Thanks for sharing the link. Well it sounds like they are going for Death Penalty in this case. Has anyone ever said what the motive was?

Moonlite She was found in bed with her dead children beside her. Motive seems to me to be beside the point.
Poor woman is nuts isn't she? DP seems unlikely from what little we know right now.

Wonder if there are more articles relating to the case?
Just because she plead not guilty by reason of insanity, doesn't mean that she was. I see she also plead not guilty. Seems they are covering 2 bases here. She's not guilty. Or she's not guilty because she was insane. I didn't think you could plead 2 ways, kind of having your cake and eating it, too. (But, I guess you can, @ least in LA, cuz the courts seem to let it go thru that way.)
Besides, there are other reasons women (or men) kill their children. Like they don't want the other parent to have the children, or sometimes, don't want to SHARE the children w/the other parent. Or, like some people think--if I kill myself, the children will be humiliated, or who will take care of them, guess I'll kill them, too.

A good link describing how the police were notified and what was found initially at the scene of the crime
I do believe I read somewhere she was despondent over her divorce (her husband is now remarried) but at the moment can't find that article

But I have never heard of someone laying in a bloody bed and just clutching her dead children. Sounds guilty but insane to me. I just don't see her as functioning well enough to be a reasonable candidate for the DP.

Amy Hebert, a 42-year-old former teacher’s aide, allegedly stabbed and killed her 9-year-old daughter, Camille, and 7-year-old son, Braxton, inside their home on St. Anthony Street on Aug. 20, 2007

she is definitely mentally ill, the suicide\murder attempt that put her in intensive care proves that imo

surely this woman will be found insane. I dont condone what she did but putting her to death is not the humane answer. According to her doctor, her stab wounds were many and deep on herself so I dont think that was a bid for the insanity plea. She is a very troubled woman, IMO.

People can flip out for the moment and go temporarally in sane, that doesn't mean they are insane every minute of the day, like real insane people. I do not concider her insane.
I think she had alot of stress, sadness, and depression because of her divorce coming up and raising small children can be stressfull. She snapped. So sad for the kids and her husband, to think of what he has to live through
I think she is selfish and deserves the death penalty! I'm sick of people killing others and then trying every way in the book to get off.

In the mug shot, she has full makeup, perfectly done, hair fixed and earrings. Strange. Was this right out of bed with the dead children and dog or right from the ICU? Due to her injuries I doubt she got a mug shot before going to hospital, but who gets done up to go from there to jail? Maybe she's trying to set up an insanity defense from the get-go. Maybe she wanted to kill the kids to get revenge on her husband for re-marrying and wanted to get away with it. If she had wanted to kill herself, she certainly knew how. She had managed to use the knife to kill a dog and 2 fighting children, not easily done, yet her injuries caused no permanent damage.
I smell a rat. I sure would like to hear what the psychiatrists have to say.

I had looked, but could not find info about custody, just that the ex has remarried. I know being a single parent to small children is stressful. Was there a custody battle? Did Dad want the kids? Was there to be custody hearings? Or was Dad a deadbeat dad who didn't involve himself in the care of the kids, and did he pay child support? If Dad wanted custody or @ least paid support, had them on visitation, she had "help" in raising the children. Not under the best of circumstances, certainly, but help nonetheless.
There isn't a great deal of information, but could custody issues have been a factor? As in, Dad might have had a chance in getting custody and she wasn't going to let that happen?
