I haven't kept up with this tragedy for the last couple of days and I'm trying to catch up. I saw the video and the woman driving did resemble ML from the myspace page that was posted.

But then the news reports showed Huckaby who looks nothing like Lawless.

Odd that a woman is suspect in this. I know it happens, but it's rare.

I know we are quick to try to judge the grandfather, but it is possible that he had a gut feeling or knew after he learned about the suitcase and had been talking to and helping LE with info. about MH. We just don't have all the facts yet.

Yes her sister and 2 others. Her sister was a wedding gift. Sick sick sick. Yeah she's out because of the lax laws up here. She got a plea deal to testify against her husband. She has a child now and apparently living it up in the Caribbean somewhere. :cursing:

That's the only other case I know where a woman sexually abused young girls and murdered them. Maybe there are others that I'm not aware of.

I'd be shocked if MH did this alone. I wonder if Sandra witnessed something and paid for it with her life? Unbelievable.

Twenty-eight-year-old Melissa Chantel Huckaby was arrested at 11:55 p.m. Friday on suspicion of kidnapping and killing 8-year-old Sandra Cantu.

Huckaby was arrested at the Tracy Police Department, where she had gone voluntarily for questioning nearly five hours earlier, police spokesman Sgt. Tony Sheneman said.

She was booked into custody at 2:49 a.m. Saturday at San Joaquin County Jail, in French Camp.

Huckaby, a West High School graduate, lives with her grandparents, Clifford Lane Lawless and Connie Lawless, in the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park, where Sandra lived.

No other arrests were made, and Sheneman offered no other details but said he would have a press conference at 10 a.m. today.

Tony S. says there was no motive, nor did she give them an answer. She gave another story that the one she gave to the newspaper. Based on her conflicting stories she was arrested with probable cause.

I know we are quick to try to judge the grandfather, but it is possible that he had a gut feeling or knew after he learned about the suitcase and had been talking to and helping LE with info. about MH. We just don't have all the facts yet.

So that's what the three men were carrying to the vehicle. All I could see was a blue sheet that covered it.

Also would like to comment on the MySpace pic of Melissa, too. On that page, she states she is not the same Melissa that is connected to the Cantu case.

The woman driving the SUV back and forth looks different, too.

Then my local area NBC said she was originally rebuffing them and sticking with her first story, but when confronted with some of the inconsistencies that she started coming out with the truth. But that's just the DC NBC news and I am still shocked to the core.

However, I have repeatedly stated to hubby that this was not a pedo kill IMOO due to the full dress of sweet Sandra and the allegation of her being almost folded into the suitcase. Then when I heard there was a murder weapon....again I turned away from thinking pedophile sex crime outside of one stray thought I couldn't even put to words, and that was the Pastor. JMO again. :crying:

The only things I can come up with are rage or Sandra witnessed something and she killed her or jealousy? For some reason I don't think it was sexual but I guess nothing would shock me anymore. :sad:

We need a criminal profiler to tell us why a woman would murder someone else's child.

Of the hundreds of people who have posted on Sandra’s thread you were the only one who saw what I saw in the multiple search warrants; the fact that the police had no firm suspect. Or if they did they were not releasing that information. There may very well be more to come. Other arrests may be in the works, but as of now it looks like the “person as yet unnamed” committed the crime.

Many people were beating up on the three men whose names were in the press, and some were willing to point fingers based on a few brief news statements, we were not. We noted their actions were strange, in one case (The Kiss) inappropriate, but also realized that nothing reported pointed to certain guilt.

I will have a lot more to say about what happened on our board and even more so what was said in the local papers come Monday, I just want to be the first to tell you your observations were right on the money.

PS; Just so this post is not completely off the subject, the news reports about Tori’s case are strange, I am not sure what to make of them yet but something seems to be off kilter in what’s going on in Woodstock.

In 2006 Huckabee was ordered by a court judge to be examined for mental stability. She has several charges petty theft and something else from a few years ago.. But she is being reported to having some mental issues. Not that that makes it okay.

There will be another news conference later today. Already saying that her defense will be mental.

They don't believe anyone else in involved.


Huckaby was scheduled to appear in court on April 17 to check in with a county mental health program as part of a three-year probation sentence for a petty theft she pleaded no contest to. In an interview with the newspaper on Friday, Huckaby said someone else by the same name was facing charges for the attempted November theft from Target.

There is a possibility IF ANY KIND OF ABUSE is in the chain that Melissa was one of the prize girls and felt jealousy of the attention poor little innocent Sandra was getting from the men Melissa was around. No, it's really not. The Melissa who's been arrested lives in the mobile park in Tracy, this one lives in Manteca.

The Melissa who's been arrested goes by the name Huckaby, the girl in the myspace page goes by the name Huckaby-Fudala indicating she's married.

We have no reason to believe the Melissa under arrest has a significant other unless the rumor about her being GF to one of the other POI is correct, which still wouldn't line up with a sir name of Fudala.

The Melissa who's been arrested has been under questioning or arrest since early yesterday, this one logged into her Myspace page yesterday.

The Melissa who's been arrested doesn't look a thing like the picture in this Myspace page and she's got about 50 lbs on the girl pictured in the Myspace.

The media once again jumped the gun and posted the picture of the wrong person originally, they've all updated with the booking photo at this point. Whoever used that photo originally needs to make an apology at the very least. JMHO

I'm thinking something about Sandra must have sent her over the edge. Add to that she was recently released from the hospital (ALLEGEDLY) and God knows for what...or how stressed she was if that was true about internal bleeding and WHY SHE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL (I have no idea).

Well, thank the Lord. I had trouble sleeping last night because I had a feeling something was about to break. And I'm not surprised to find out she was supposed to have some type of mental competency hearing. The stories she was telling the reporters was just too bizarre, especially the note stuff. I'm feell sure she told something inconsistent to the reporters from what she'd told the police, and that's why they brought her in last night.

I do have a feeling there will be another arrest, at least one if not more. Looks to me more & more like some type of porn ring, especially after them pulling the bed from the church last night. I could be wrong. PLUS, at the very least, I think she had some type help disposing of this poor baby's body.

Was just listening to KGO local news and they interviewed a police officer that interviewed Melissa. She said one moment she seemed very relaxed..unconcerned.. then became very emotional.. then back to very relaxed and at the end seemed resigned to what was about to happen, being her arrest.

They also reported she was suppose to appear in court next week as posted before I believe they said to be sentenced or charged in some previous crime.. (theft was one of them)


At the time of her arrest for the above mentioned crime she originally told the court that she was not mentally competent to stand trial...but the court found her to be competent after which she plead no contest.

This woman has some issues... still wondering why she was hospitalized.. how do you spend several days in Intensive Care and get realized a few days later... kind of weird.

This sounds very plausible to me...and maybe by having Sandra's sister babysit her daughter it was just to make sure her daughter didn't just pop-in at the church to see what mommy was doing?

If the scenario of Sandra's sister babysitting Melissa's daughter is true, where did Sandra's sister think Sandra was when she was probably being disposed of? And, wouldn't the 5 year old have spilled the beans, even indirectly that Sandra had just been there?

If so, my guess is that LE knew very early on who did it. But, I certainly didn't get that feeling in the first few days she went missing.

One reporter ask LE if she was under suicidewatch when she was in hospital a few days ago, he said no. Was she a suspect before tracypress interview, no. Was there drugs involved, cannot answer that. How did she die, cannot answer that. Anymore arrests pending, no. Has she lawyered up, no. Did her parents know she was under arrest, no, shes an adult, do not have to notify her parents. LE states she was not a supsect early on.

If she truly was in the ICU, it was not just a panic attack. They would probably do some tests to make sure her symptoms weren't from something physical, give her some kind of Xanax-type drug to calm her down, and send her home with a relative and a prescription. With instructions to see a psychologist. If she truly was in the intensive care unit, it must have been something bad. ICU stays are EXPENSIVE for the hospital and the patient, and they don't someone in there for nothing. Maybe she was never in ICU?

Even to keep someone overnight anywhere in the hospital means something is wrong. The philosophy of most ERs is triage. Get to the most urgent patients. Stablize them. Do tests. If nothing seems to wrong, send them home. I also wonder if she attempted suicide.

IIRC there was some confusion as to whose house Sandra had went to play at. Now we know why.

They reported several times this morning they have no other suspects or others involved in this case.. only Melissa.

Was wondering about the guy on the road also by the pond.. but could of been nothing.. :confused: So far I'm understanding it's just Melissa.

The second could be, but if it is it's an old picture. The girl arrested has 75lbs on the girl in that second pic, a good stiff wind would knock that girl over, her face is thin and defined, her nose more pointed and thin.

The girl arrested is not thin, take a good look at the heaviness of her face, neck & shoulders. As far as we know the Melissa who's been arrested has never gone by the name Lawless.

I wonder if the note was written by someone who saw her but didn't want to reveal themselves to police? Why would Melissa give the note to LE though? Or was the note just given to the media? :confused:

Royals, this makes me think that LE told the media there would be no furthers arrests to lure other suspects into a false sense of security. I keep hearing that there any huge implications to this arrest, and I hope that if there were others involved, they get them, too. I want anyone who had anything to do with this or knew about it or helped cover it up to PAY.
