Can someone tell me what S.J. means..lol sorry not enough sleep I guess but have no idea what it means:confused:
Good Morning,
From the link posted
"She didn't have a lot of kid friends," David Slayter said. "She hung out with adults. ... I always told her, you've got to be careful with some adults. You've got to be careful."
So sad to read that. I wonder why Sandra didn't have young friends her age and would hang out with adults. Was she unhappy at home? I question what was going on over there. Was she not getting the love and attention an 8 year old needs? The fact that one of her friends said she wanted to run away is also a red flag. Why would and 8 year old want to run away? Did she feel safer in stranger's homes?
So many questions still and yet no sign of Sandra.

Good Morning,
I Agree. I don't think Sandra's dad had anything directly to do with her disappearance. My hope is that it may have something to do with his past drug activity. I am reaching here, but if Sandra was taken in an attempt to smoke her dad out then she could still be alive.
On the other hand if this was the work of a child predator willing to kill to cover his tracks, then the statistics say she was probably murdered before a police search was even started. Marc Klaas made one of the most chilling quotes I have ever see; "A Mile a minute" hypothetically that’s how far/fast a predator can leave the scene after an abduction.

Searchers prepare to look hundreds to show up to help search for Tracy girl Saturday
TRACY — Organizers are expecting an army of volunteers to show up Saturday morning to help find a Tracy girl who's been missing for more than a week.
More than 150 people, including the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Boating Safety Unit and a search and rescue team from Contra Costa County, are expected to search yet-to-be disclosed locations in and around Tracy this weekend while volunteers continue to wallpaper the area with fliers featuring pictures of 8-year-old Sandra Cantu.

Good Morning,
I came across this just now searching for anything new on Sandra. Not sure if this should go here, please let me know if it's in the wrong area.
OAKDALE - While investigators are calling everyone a person of interest at this person, there is a resident of the orchard estates mobile home park, that is generating a lot of attention.
FBI agents traveled to the city of Oakdale to search the home of relatives of Chris Sinclair. He's the man who allegedly interfered with FBI agents and officers as they searched a mobile home.
Sources say the FBI searched the home of his relatives. "I saw the cars and I thought, what the heck is all that! Then I saw FBI on their shirts".
Judy Thomas and her husband Arnold Thomas watched the search from across the street. Agents looked through a boat that sat in the driveway of the Oakdale home, brought out canines to sniff out the property and used ladders to help search unreachable areas.
There was also a hole dug a few inches into the ground in the backyard, sitting next to a number of shovels and metal detectors.
Both the FBI and the Tracy Police are not releasing any information about this search for fear of hindering the investigation.

aproudmom,
To clarify, "S.J." in this case stands for "San Joaquin" Valley, which covers much of central California, including Tracy. (Actually, San Jose is quite a distance from Tracy; not sure how far exactly.)
Not incredibly far, actually. I wouldn't want to make the commute from Tracy to to San Jose on a regular basis, but if I remember correctly, its under two hours drive time and many commuters used who worked in the Bay Area used to make that commute, regularly. Assuming SJ actually refers to the San Joaquin valley, it stretches for 100's of miles.
Track292003
04-04-2009, 06:11 PM
San Jose is only an hour from Tracy. They are both part of the greater San Francisco Bay Area Region. San Joaquin is to the East, San Jose to the South. Since I've seen no connection to San Jose referenced in this case, it makes sense to me that SJ means San Joaquin since Tracy is in San Joaquin County. How about everyone just agree to use the acronyms, SJC, for San Joaquin County or, SJV, if referring to the San Joaquin Valley, then it's clear it references the county or the valley where the case is centered? Since SJ is commonly used to reference San Jose around here, adding the C or the V to the end of the acronym, would eliminate confusion.
Good idea!
My post was only in response to a question about what "S.J." stood for in the headline about "another S.J. House/Home Searched" or words to that effect, and the home was NOT in San Jose; it was in SJV/SJC.

The clip is so heartbreaking. She seems so happy. But who was watching her as she skipped along? She is all by herself in that clip. I watched for any other shadows but there was just hers that I saw.
Someone was watching her though probably not to far away from where the surveillance tape ended.
I want to believe so badly that Sandra has not been harmed and will be found and returned safely but I must admit I get that same chilling feeling as I did when I saw the clip of Carlie Brucia.

The camera is a personally owned one, on top of her trailer.
Her grandfather put it there because his tires had been slashed recently, probably because he was in a neighborhood dispute over trapping neighbor's cats and taking them to the pound.
If this is the trailer where she lives, with the camera mounted on it, why is she coming from across the street and then passing this trailer? The caption under the video says, "Sandra Cantu leaving home"? Is that a mistake?

I know. Before we actually saw the video I imagined it to be video of after she left her friend's house. Now this video is labeled as her leaving her house. Now a poster here says the camera is mounted on her own house. If it's mounted on her own house and it's video of her leaving her own house, then why do we see her exiting between two cars parked at homes across the street?
And why does she pass her own trailer? Is this porch we see the entrance to her trailer? I think the caption may be wrong or this camera is a different one....but who else would have a surveillance video mounted on their roof? If it's supposed to be captioned "returning home", she doesn't. And does her friend indeed live in that place she's coming from?

CC I See -her hair isn't sun bleached blonde.
It's chemically cosmetically bleached blonde on purpose.
Her origin is hispanic, and they can be outside all day long all year and their hair doesn't lighten. Their skin darkens, their hair remains black.
I wondered too, why her hair was colored. It occurred to me that she was in some way exposed to early sexual behavior, and that caused her to color her hair and take on a sexualized appearance.
But it has recently come out in the news that her father abandoned the family last year. That in itself causes girls to seek male attention, and might have caused her to color her hair. Who knows?
At any rate, it's really ODD that a girl of 7 would color her hair, and it's odd that she would be allowed by her mother to color her hair.
It's still up in the air whether she was receiving undue male attention or maybe she was distraught that her father left.
Prayers that this darling little girl is found safe. It seems more and more unlikely.
I teach in So Cal. I live in an area that is 80% Hispanic. LOTS of young Hispanic (and non) girls dye their hair. There was a girl at my son's preschool whose hair was colored. In this area it is completely accepted and not viewed as anything sexual. Yes, the moms color their own young daughters' hair. I don't agree with it, as most of you seem to not approve, either. However, for the area I live in it's not seen as anything negative, just a fashion statement. In fact, it's difficult to find girls in this area who don't color their hair in some way. I've seen it all. I'm not even 30 yet but I haven't dyed my own hair. Guess I am not cool!

Something caught her attention. She was looking ahead while skipping, then that sudden glance as her head turns ever so quickly completely to the left, then straight ahead again. Could be as innocuous as the sight of a cat running by or a little noise, but maybe not.
This glance thing can be seen better on the bigger version of the video posted above.
Wasn't a neighbour's house searched? Isn't this her house where the camera is installed? Is the entrance to her own house just out of view to the left of screen, or is this porch the entrance, and if so, why does she continue and rather than come up the steps?

I've lived in CA my entire life and have never seen a child with colored hair either. There's about 38 million people in the state that are counted. I hope you don't believe all of them bleach their children's hair just because some do.

I'm sure that there's more to the video than what LE released but even the short bit that is on the net is just heart breaking to see that sweet little girl skipping along and then disappear.
The only good that I can see is that LE has a decent look at the Hello Kitty shirt she was wearing and at least they can compare it to the one they found.
Sad isn't it? As another missing child earns her own separate forum on here.
It is very sad. We all may not agree on how to raise our children and while I wouldn't approve of coloring my own child's hair it's still legal for my neighbor's to chose to color their child's hair.
Kidnapping is illegal.

OMG- is it not bad enough that this child is missing that we need people in an up roar about the coloring of her hair? And worse it means she is sexually exposed?
Why do we find it absolutely necessary to find fault with every parent of a missing child? And don't say it isn't true- every single case has had attacks on the parental character or parenting style.
Kid color their hair we don't know why she did- perhaps a play she was in or a fun makeover with dye that washes out after so many shampoos.
The hair is a non issue. As long as there is a current and correct description who cares about the color of her hair?

Now we blame a child's hair color for what the monsters do to them?
In the video I see a little girl happily skipping along. Her pause looks as if someone is yelling at her. Her body language completely changes. My question? Who? Seems the child knew that trouble was brewing by the way she suddenly stops skipping and looks to the left.

Hi
I agree. The reason Sandra may have asked to have her hair lightened was because she wanted the same color as a friend or family member had; nothing more, and nothing sinister.
What is important is that people be able to recognize Sandra whatever color hair she now has; hence the importance of releasing both photos. The need for LE/NCMEC to do this is not infrequent. Many missing children posters have two pictures showing different hair color or style
BTW on the old thread I posted an example of the need for doing so; the many faces of Morgan Shonfelt a teen who went missing Nov 8 2008 in Arizona. Yesterday I got some very good news from her mom:
"Hi Peter,
I wanted to share with you that my daughter Morgan walked into a shelter in Las Vegas called WestCare and advised them she was a runaway and wanted to go home. I spoke to her and from what I am told she is in fairly good health. I am heading to Las Vegas to get her in the AM. Your kindness and support has been unbelievable! I don't feel thank you is enough but I can’t find any words to express my gratitude for all your effort to assist me in my search for Morgan. I will keep you & your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Thank you,
Christine"

Good morning all.
Wanted to come in and apologize for the rumor I posted about last night.
I sent someone a PM to the link, but wanted to clarify 'in public'.
The 'talk' was from a 'Forensic Astrology' thread and I didn't realize it until I went back for the link.
I had read an awful lot of different topics at the website and forgot which one it came from...
Anyway, sorry I mentioned it AT ALL!
No problem I went and seen the site you were talking about so it was not your rumor you said it was unconfirmed..no problems on my end..

Maybe it's a Ca. thing, but I have NEVER seen a child this young with bleached hair, unless it was Jon Benet Ramsey.
Got to agree with ya doc I know in the summer kids hair can change but not that much I know both my boys and sisters does but not mine it is dark brown and never went that light..and my hairdresser would never color or perm a child's hair at that age...lets not forget she just turned 8 so she was 7 before march..my gosh these days kids should not be be allowed to die their hair or even pick out what they wear at that age...I have seen some little girls that look like teens..not that Sandra did she didn't but we see it all the time..I see the video was released just watched it on fox and busted out in tears to real for me I guess she was skipping along and now gone..
Here's a link about the video:
http://tracypress.com/content/view/17727/2268/
I'm sure you all seen it, but I wanted to add that there is a poster in the comments section who lives in the MH park, and she gives pretty good details on where the camera was facing, and where Sandra may have been coming from or going to.
Thank you for posting the link and reference to the comments. Very interesting that most see the same as we do when watching the video. It is so obvious that something/someone caught little Sandra's attention and she suddenly stopped skipping. Why? Who lives at that house to her left? No mention of where the video cam is located either unless I missed it. It doesn't sound like it's the one at her house so who else has a camera?
Also a question to be asked is this the last time Sandra was seen or was she seen after this video by someone. A family member? What time was this video taken?
Praying Sandra is safe. That video really gave us a glimpse of a happy little girl. My heart breaks thinking something horrible may have happened to her.

The video shows Sandra walking away from the mobile home park's only exit, on West Clover Road.
Lt. Jeremy Watney, Tracy police spokesperson, would not say where or at what time the video was recorded. He said investigators analyzed the clip thoroughly and determined that what appeared to be a backpack or purse on her shoulder was just her shadow.

Maybe they won't release that information for security reasons or maybe for privacy reasons for the people who own that camera but the time the video was taken is crucial.
Maybe what we're all seeing really doesn't matter. In other words, if Sandra was later seen somewhere else, that quick glance to her left doesn't mean anything unless she was being stalked. Hope I'm making sense.

FYI~ I do not think I ever blamed her hair on why she is missing for one it made me angry that recent photos were not put out since we kept seeing 2 pictures looking so different and wondered why she had such a difference in hair color that was my problem I for one would not allow my child to die their hair at that age but not blaming it on her mom or her just cause it can cause a lot of damage to hair for children that age..I don't care if her hair is purple as long as LE got the right info out ASAP such as the mark on her face was it not 5 days later? we hear she had a mole or birthmark. That stuff should have been out ASAP if you ask me..and now they do not want to release the time or where this video came from for one it should have been released ASAP if they had it before and it should also be sent off to the FBI labs and zoomed in to show the clothes better...this is all JMO..TIME is crucial and they are dropping the ball on this one I hate to say all these POI and taking cars and still nothing that we know of..11 hours to notify the media and some SO with in a 5 mile radius said they were not even talked to for over 24 hours. the stats are not good a child who goes missing is usually dead with in 3 hours they spent to much time saying she could have ran away...please how many 8yr olds run away this should have went out ASAP and just hoped that she had just ran off to a friends or something...their own SP said they are learning from this WHAT this is a child not a learning tool on what to do or what not to do..I also read that they have a big problem with child porn being passed around in Tracy I hope they are able to see who these sickos are..OK I will hush I am just sick of all these children going missing...god bless these families
I am so glad the FBI came in so soon thank god..they were talking to the father at the same time the LE SP was telling the media they thought he was in Mexico and had not been in the child's life that whole town should have been closed down and every car stopped ASAP..
I heard there was a carnival in town is that true? anyone know? also does anyone know what time the officers funeral was? I know they had the memorial for all 4 of them but then all had private funerals and one was form Tracy I watched the funeral procession and looked like a lot of cops attended this private funeral why I ask this is because could someone have known most cops would not be out I know I am grasping at anything..but as I think she was no reported missing until after 8 so guess that would not matter...

So if it that's true, didn't she go out again after she went home after visiting with the first friend? Where does her other friend live and would she have gone the same way? If so, why isn't she on camera the second time she went out? Did she go the opposite way?
Many comments from posters on that earlier link say they absolutely see her carrying a purse/bag with a strap but LE say she was not. I have a lousy monitor at home so I can't really tell. What do you all think? If she was carrying a bag, why would LE say she wasn't? Did they find the bag but are not saying and that's why it took them all this time to release this video?
Ugh! So many questions.
If that camera is at her house, could the quick glance to the left be someone yelling to come inside but she knew she'd get in trouble for whatever reason and walked away? I wish we knew where the entrance to the home is vis a vis the camera angle.
ok my question was answered after listening to that video clip. She walked right by the home and she has a friend who lives close by and they hoped she was going there.
Of course, one answer brings me to more questions. Didn't the family members say she went home after the first friend's visit? Something about wanting to go to the movies? If that's the case, why don't we see her entering her home?
Who was the last family member to have seen Sandra??

Maybe the sun was in her eyes and if someone yelled at her or some type of greeting it would take a moment to get her bearings on identifying who's calling out a greeting to her or where their location is.
I don't necessarily think she knew trouble was brewing. Just a thought.

Wondering if Chris S. SIL. Is still on here if so I hope your family is doing well. I know some of you were not even on here when this was under the amber alert/missing children's thread. So you may not know CS is the one that got arrested for being drunk and then they later called him a POI his cars taken and another home in oakdale that he may be linked to was searched and on this video to the right if you click on the one that shows a white car that is the martial arts guys car it has been returned so wonder if they released CS cars to. It has a neighbor talking about the oakdale search and another neighbor who did not want to be on camera said they had seen CS car at that home before..Just thought Gap may be able to let us know if his things have been returned also..I really thought this case was going to have a answer by now with all the searches and POI in the beginning I pray she is found soon and found safe..

I think I've been misunderstood with the hair dying issue.
It may be common in Ca for girls to dye their hair, and that would make more sense. I don't know.
When you see a child who dramatically changes her appearance, it is often because of sexual abuse or living in a very sexualized environment. When that child then goes missing, it's one more clue to look at and think about, and consider if perhaps the two things are related - the appearance change, and then going missing.
It isn't a non-issue. It might turn out to be a non-issue, but it's something to consider if you have no idea what the circumstances are, and who took her, and why.
RR not sure if it is a CA thing.. my only problem with it is that they did not have the picture out first off instead the one with her dark hair was on fliers it took several days to get new ones and info out to the media about her hair being lighter..she does not look the same IMO..big mess up if you ask me..and a week to get the info about the mole on her face those things are crucial when you have no Amber Alert. and dont forget a week to get the video out and still can not really see what she was wearing. all jmo

Just a positive thought about Sandra's hair color AND long, dangling earrings (which I also think are unusual for an 8-year-old):
Perhaps her big sisters made her up as a birthday treat! Often older sisters dress up the baby, who -- at the age of 8 -- probably wants to be just like them!
Also, although I haven't read all explanations of the video, my hunch is that Sandra may have been coming home from her attempt to visit the second friend (at the second friend's house, where perhaps no one was home). Obviously, the poor child never made it to her home so no PERSON saw her after she left to see the second friend, but the grandfather's CAMERA did.

On one of the articles linked here in the comment section there seems to be posters who live in this trailer park and are giving detailed information about where things are in correlation to the surveillance tape, you may want to look there.
I didn't get the feeling she saw anything in the street, like a car but saw something or someone to the right of her, like at a home or something or someone standing in a yard and they may have yelled something to her.
Even something vulgar and she tried to walk past them as if she was ignoring them.
imo
I dont know if it is the same one I read is she the one that said she had never seen her before but did live in the park..if so I read all her comments she was talking about them working on a mobile home there and hoped they had talked to them..is this the same one you read?

Cal EMA Assisting in Search for Missing Girl
http://newsblaze.com/story/20090405073048zzzz.nb/topstory.html
“MATHER, CA - At the request of the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department, the California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA) is supporting efforts to locate Sandra Cantu, the eight-year-old girl who has been missing since last Friday.
As of this morning, Cal EMA's Law Enforcement Branch has coordinated the deployment of more than 300 search personnel, 30 search dogs and 15 horses through the state's Law Enforcement Mutual Aid system…”.

I hadn't heard the name "David Slayter" before - apparently he was interviewed by police, voluntarily. He and his wife had Sandra over to the house several times a week and have taken her on outings. The wife notes that Sandra didn't have many friends who were children, that she preferred to socialize with adults.

yeah he was the one that they talked to this last time he had been at the vigils and was on the media saying he had told her to be careful of who she talked to..so not sure why they took him and his cars in but he said she was at his home a lot..he said she did not have to many friends in the park so she came there to play games and stuff..not sure if this is the same one they say is a 44 year old bachelor cause I am almost sure he is married maybe media got it wrong...
Geraldo got it wrong (surprise, surprise!) - he's the only one that said bachelor. Unfortunately, LE officers did not correct him either way, but here's the article that says he's married:
Another Home Searched, Man Talks to Police (http://tracypress.com/content/view/17706/2268/)
From the above:
"The Tracy man lives with his wife, Debra Slayter, and a son. A missing-persons poster with a picture of second-grader Sandra Cantu was pasted on the Slayters’ front window. Sandra was last seen near her family’s home in the neighborhood around 4 p.m. on March 27.
Slayter was quoted in the Stockton Record expressing concern for the missing girl.
“I told her (Sandra), you’ve got to be careful with some adults,” he told a Record reporter Monday."
I wonder how old his son is.

thank you! That's a lot better than her being down at his house alone.
I hope they clear up the inconsistency. In this video, the grandfather said she walked right by their porch. That's where we see her take that quick glance to the left. He then says she had a friend close by and "hoped" she was going there but subsequent reports say the friend wasn't home. How would the grandfather know this if she never made it home? And why the stories about wanting to go to the movies then, if she never made it home?

I'm confused also. About the friend, it could be he found out afterward that this person wasn't home, but I'm still wondering about allowing her to just go "wherever" without knowing exactly where she'd be and with whom. It was a lot safer out there when I was Sandra's age but my folks wouldn't just let me wander around to different houses without knowing first that my friends were home. And definitely not for four hours! MOO

I've lived in CA my entire life and have never seen a child with colored hair either. There's about 38 million people in the state that are counted. I hope you don't believe all of them bleach their children's hair just because some do.

At first I wondered if LE were not saying anything about the tape so they could use it against POIs without them knowing they had specific information. What I mean is if a POI gave an alibi that matched up with the time and place of the tape it could be used against them. However, if that was the intent, wouldn't LE have informed the family not to reveal the location of the cam?

I guess it maybe all had to do with when the reporters received information. I know the first day, all I had heard was that she had visited one friend, then decided to go on to another friend's house. Don't know if they got that information from the first friend or where. Mom did not seem to know--or, as I think I would be, unable to put tho'ts together coherently enough @ that point. Then the next day or so, I read where Grandpa says she came home from the first friend's house, she and sis wanted to go to church and the movies but didn't have enough money, Sandra was going to another friend's house.
I am assuming she must have told Grandpa or sis the name of the second friend, else how would anyone know that that friend and family weren't home @ the time she headed off.

So, he did NOT know for sure whom she was going to visit, only "hoped" it was this friend, whom it turned out was not home? So, she could have been going to yet another friend's house, too. Or even taking a walkabout to see what kids might be out and about and available to play?

Yes according to the grandfather. If you listen to the video in the link I posted he said that was their porch. Did someone call her (from her own porch) but she didn't recognize the person so she continued on?
Or
This was from a comment from a poster in one of the links....it looked like she was happily skipping towards her house but something made her stop skipping. Did someone call out her name and she thought it was grandpa or a family member and then when she got closer, she didn't recognize the person so she continued to walk straight ahead?

Hey all -
I don't post much at all, mostly just view, but I felt I needed to post this after reading many views on the video of Sandra.
I could be the only one who feels this way but I don't really see a huge change in Sandra after she glances to the left. Also, there could be endless possibilities why she looked that way quickly, then kept going. It could be anything from kids being loud, dog barking, loud car, et cetera. I really don't think that just because she turned her head it was because someone might have called out to her or anything like that. Then again, I could be totally wrong. To me she looks like a happy 8-year-old, skipping along to go find friends and such, and just happened to stop once she got to that side of the road.
I just wanted to point out that though I may be the only one who doesn't see a huge change in her, there are still other possibilities that nothing was happening in that video that pertains to her disappearance.
I know you all know this (or most) but I just don't want all of us to get stuck on this one video when there might not be anything to actually "look" for.

Yes, it could be nothing and maybe LE released it to show what Sandra was wearing and what she looked like on the day of her disappearance.
But..
there is that possibility that something/someone caught her attention and she suddenly stopped skipping. I would not be so suspicious if I was the only one who noticed it but many have not only on this board so in my opinion, it's very obvious.

Hi Taybug,
I felt the same way when I saw the video. I didn't notice anything unusual. To me it kind if looked like she was looking for a car after she was already in the street, like maybe someone was going to back out. Don't know. Either way, the video I saw did not strike me. Assuming I saw the same video as everyone else...
FOX News gave a brief update about 1/2 hour ago saying LE took a large brown bag of "evidence" (?) from another home within the park but did not say whose home it was. Again, it could be nothing.

Sandra was reported missing in the evening. I don't know how early or late but it seems likely she may have disappeared during daylight hours. It seems kind of difficult to snatch someone in broad daylight with chances that someone could witness. Therefore I'm wondering whether she actually entered someone's home for whatever reason.
I can't find the link, but there were several comments by someone who lives there. She said that there were only about 6 houses past the video scene, in the direction Sandra was walking. I don't know if it's an actual dead end or if there's a path or something that continues.
A later video evidently does not show her walking back. Who lives in those six trailers? Anyone know if any of these guys who have been questioned live at the end of the street. Seems that she disappeared there? Or someone giving her a lift there and driving out. Wonder if LE have investigated any vehicles passing by on that cam.
Or could she have gone between two houses, if there was no path, don't know how close these places are to each other, and what's behind on that street.

Slayter was quoted in the Stockton Record expressing concern for the missing girl.
“I told her (Sandra), you’ve got to be careful with some adults,” he told a Record reporter Monday."
I wonder how old his son is.
Seems like this is not the only person who warned Sandra away from some adults or to be careful who she spoke to iirc.
Was she that gregarious? Seems like a very lonely little girl, playing with 5 year olds, asking adults if she can do anything for them - including the guy from 2 years ago, one article said she often was in his yard or asked if she could help him with things.

doors17 is the poster who lives in the area. I believe this is the link you're referring to. She says Sandra was headed to the end of the park with no exit of any kind and according to this poster the exit is a wall with homes in front of the wall. Where Sandra lives there are about six homes down the road in the direction she is looking towards. The wall has a line of about 12 to 15 homes.

Something stinks.

I'd also like to know who was at her birthday party on the 8th.
i have a weird feeling about the grandfather. ...she seems like the type of child who ...ack... i don't know what im trying to say but i know what im feeling lol.
just something stinks
eta, and why would a grandfather "hope" she went to her friend when she knows she is missing.

I don't know about the grandfather but something is just not sitting well with me about this family. Maybe I'm just suspicious of everyone when it comes to missing children cases especially the ones that I've followed and have been following.
These are just things I've noticed about the family. Considering LE hasn't ruled anyone out yet and according to them everyone is still considered a POI, here are my observations about the family:
1) The few times I've seen the mom, it looks like she's crying but I don't see tears.
2) The father. Gone for 6 years and suddenly reappears when his daughter goes missing.
3) The grandfather. I believe he's the one with the inconsitencies in his statements unless the media is reporting it wrong. The big one is the one I mentioned earlier. If Sandra was skipping towards home, she did not go inside. She walked right by the porch and was heading towards what they "hoped" was a friends house. So, when did she go home to tell grandpa that she wanted to go to the movies?
4) Reporting the child missing at 8 pm! This is another big no no in my book.
I hope LE clears things up and at the very least rules out the family members.
I am really happy to see that there are incredible efforts by all sorts of organizations in helping find Sandra. The outpouring of dedication is incredible. I've never seen anything like it in the cases I've followed.

I agree with everything but number 4. 8 pm when it it is light until near that time..depends on the family life. If they thought she was at a friends house and often ate over then i can see just thinking she lost track of time. We here are used to cases where children go missing but not everyone has the same worry or knowledge. They might be angry at her for not coming home on time but not start to really worry until after 7. I get the feeling she was alone alot, not a very structured life or family. Which doesn't necessarily mean bad family simply irresponsible about dangers to children or more importantly the need for structure and boundaries in their life. Just watch Supernanny for an idea of caring families who are hopeless at child safety or rules... well not hopeless but make you shake your head.
I still think there is something hinky here and normally i stand up for the family until proven otherwise in these cases

Hey all -
I don't post much at all, mostly just view, but I felt I needed to post this after reading many views on the video of Sandra.
I agree with you. I don't see anything noteworthy in the video either. It's kinda nice LE has it since it's the last known time the child was seen. At least they know her whereabouts when the video was recorded.

Could be the no structure. I would think that if your child doesn't show up by dinnertime 5 or 6, you would be in a panic. I know when my kids were 8 years old and went to a friend's house afterschool to do homework or play, I always expected them back by dinnertime. If they wanted to stay over there for dinner, they had to call me or have the friend's mom call.
Heck, 8 was bath time and 9 was bedtime at that age for my kids.
Oh well...I guess different strokes for different folks. I pray Sandra will be found safe soon. It's 9 days today and still no sign of her.

That's the problem. It's not the last known time. All we know is it's the day she went missing. What time was that video taken? 4 pm ? 5 pm? 6 pm? All we know is she apparently left a friend's house at 4 so do we assume that video was taken shortly after 4 pm?
What time is sundown in California?

Exactly! So I take it to mean the video was taken right before she disappeared, but thats just MO. I mean its not like you can get this very detailed description of her from the video - so why release it?
(highlight by me)
Maybe LE released the video on the remote possibility that someone, somewhere might recognize her build, her gait, the way she walks, the way she moves, her body posture, the way she carries herself. anything. We have her still photos but the way a person moves is unique about them too in my opinion.
I applaud them for their efforts. It might help and what can it hurt?
Forensic Files last eve replayed a case wherein a murderer could disguise everything about themselves but body posture and body movements. So let's hope someone recognizes this little child. She's got to be somewhere.

Sundown depends on the part of the state you live in (N vs S and E vs. W) because CA is such a large state. Mountains and such also effect the time it gets dark because they obscure the light. Since I live so far south I won't speculate, but I'd like to hear from someone close to that area or a local news service. Sometimes in a newspaper they give sunrise/sunset times.

This is for today's date. It's daylight until about 7:30p.m. I think we gain about 1 minute of daylight each day. Sandra's been missing about 9 days so subtract 9 minutes from today's sunset and you'll have the approx. time. Also, Weather Underground has weather history.
There's sunset and nautical twilight. It gives explanations for all those terms but I forget what they each designate. It stays light until after the actual sunset as you know. If she was reported misisng about 8:00p.m. they got concerned when she wasn't home around the approx time it would've lost all daylight. Also you could look at the moon on that day. full moon gives off a lot of light if there's no cloud cover comparetively speaking. Weather Underground will have all that info for that date.

Civil Twilight
This is defined to be the time period when the sun is no more than 6 degrees below the horizon at either sunrise or sunset. The horizon should be clearly defined and the brightest stars should be visible under good atmospheric conditions (i.e. no moonlight, or other lights). One still should be able to carry on ordinary outdoor activities.

Temp 65.6 degrees, wind calm @ Civil Twilight. At approx 7:54p.m. (approx 21:00)
That's from Weather Underground history for that date and I did the times approx. It would have been just prior to 2100 hrs. I didn't post the link because it's my personal account with my personal information that I don't want to post publically. Anyone can go there themselves and scroll down to weather history, then at the pull down menu set the date you want to look at the weather conditions for.

I heard on the news they reported her missing about 8:00p.m. so they reported her missing soon as there was no more light outside according to weather underground history for the date she went missing.
It was ample light until about 7:55p.m. that date.
God Bless Sandra.

i hate to say it but i think she is dead. It seems she did not leave the trailer park. I know there is always hope but after a week its pretty unlikely. Wish we had more information on the family dynamics.

Also very odd is police wouldn't say where the cam was set up but the family comes right out and says it's their cam? Why?
I had assumed the camera on her home was in the front of the house. Isn't that where it records her skipping by?
Are you asking why the family would come right out and say they have home security surveillance cameras? I have them. They're available, why not have them? They're nothing new. They've been around awhile. My husband and all his uncles have them. Gadgets. They're fun for one thing. I can be anywhere in my homes and know who's at any of my doors. My sons have them on their homes too. I can be anywhere in my businesses and view other areas and who walks in or out the doors.
Men love gadgets. My girlfriend bought me one for my purse. Night vision too. LOL
Thank heavens they do have this video of her. At least they knew she walked past the house at a given time. People have baby monitors in their homes and keep them for years even when the children are older and playing inside and outside.

Bold done on my part.
I totally agree with you. I didn't mean to downplay that there could be possible evidence in this video if you felt that way. Actually, after having posted what I did and reading theories elsewhere, I'm beginning to wonder if it's more practical that someone called her over in the direction she actually walked instead of the direction she glanced quickly. From what I've seen/read, she quickly glances in the direction of her own house, so I'm wondering if someone calls out to her, she glances at her house, and then walks over. I don't know. Total speculation on my part.
I just hope this little girl is found and brought home safely.
The above is MOO.

Okay thanks for that info. On radio news they said she was last seen on the video. So the last time anyone saw her was her Mother at 3:00p.m. when she came home from school? this says.

This is just so tragic. Her poor Mother and extended family.
The sun sets in CA around 7:30 p.m. these days. It set about 7:25p.m. the day Sandra went missing. According to Weather Underground, Civil Twilight was around 7:55p.m. or there abouts on that date. Few minutes before 8:00p.m.
This is how Weather Underground defines Civil Twilight.

I was questioning why LE wouldn't release where the camera was located. We then hear the family come right out and say it was theirs. There must've been a reason LE wouldn't say. It could be they didn't want the public to know that the family had a cam eventhough most already knew from previous reports or there is some other reason.

Adalena, one would assume this video was taken when she was coming back from her first friend's house because she walks right by her porch but doesn't stop to go in....she's seen walking away from her home and what her grandfather "hoped" would be going to a friend's house. The second friend apparently was not home. The family spokesperson, however is saying that they didn't know if she was there or not according to this statement in your link.
"We just know that she had gone to the first house, and played for just a very short time. And then she was on her way to another friend's house," said Lisa Encarnacion, the spokeswoman for Sandra's family. "And we don't know, we can't confirm that she was there or she was not."
Whatever happened to Sandra would've had to have happened when that video was taken because nobody saw her after that, imo. That's why I think it important to know what time that video was taken. I'm sure LE already has that information but it would confirm whether or not she made it to the second friend's house, if not did anyone else see her around that time? She couldn't have gone very far from home. Apparently there's no way out from the park in the direction she was heading. Did someone put her in a car and drive off with her?
