Here's a thread to start today. I am still reading the first thread from yesterday!


Seems like things are starting to open up, especially with LE stating inconsistencies in Misty's "story". I think that's exactly what it is, a story. I hope Mr. Meanie questions her again, sounds like maybe he can break her.

Maj. Gary Bowling also said Misty Croslin's inability on national television Friday to clear up inconsistent answers was what detectives have faced for weeks.

"Our interviews with her have been pretty much like what you saw on the "Today Show," Bowling said. "We've confronted her with her inconsistencies and America got a sample of our interviews with her."

Bowling also disputed Croslin's assertion on TV that she wasn't a suspect.

"We have not ruled her out as a suspect," he said.

Wow...we've heard LE say that everyone is still a suspect but this is the first time they that I've seen them acknowledge that one person is not cooperating. Are they also saying she did NOT pass the LDT? That's what it sounds like to me. So what's going on? There's something more to this marriage thing too. I ddin't like how she was looking at Ron for answers in that interview. I think my first gut instict and theory about this case may very well turn out to be true. I noticed how Ron keeps saying he was at work so he knows nothing and Misty keeps saying she passed the LDT.

Someone is covering up what really happened, imo. I don't like this at all. If there are no "stranger" fingerprints, DNA , no clues that anyone else was in that home, it has to be someone in that home. I hope LE will start clarifying some of the questions we all have.

The "blanket" may hold the key.

I'm so glad he's working with LE unlike the Anthony case. That shows credibility on his part that he's really trying to get to the truth rathter than trying to hide the truth, IMO.

I was thinking last night there are sooooo many attorneys/experts on the KCA case...working for free (according to JB) and here is a Haleigh needing ALL the help she could get to help find her and no one was coming to her aid. Now..here is someone finally coming forward. Maybe..just maybe..this PI will be able to get somewhere with this case and Haleigh can come home. ALL we can do is HOPE and PRAY. jmo

We all need to keep that in mind from today forward. No matter what Ron or Misty says the police have not stated that either one of them passed a lie detector test.

Comparing what we all saw of Misty on The Today Show, 3-13-09, her demeanor, body language, facial expressions, eye contact and words is what LE has been dealing with for over 4 weeks now. Can you imagine their total frustration?!

This darn blanket has me stumped..I thought it was covering a window..I thought it was in the van..I thought it was being washed??? Also..did anyone hear why LE took the wall out by the water heater? questions..too many questions and too few answers. :confused:

This is just all so weird, off the wall actions from the father and the whole family thinks it's all pretty normal. Well, Ron's family anyway, I'd love to be a fly on the wall in Crystal's camp (or trailer), especially with her Mama.

Arrested development all the way around, IMO. Not so sure about mental retardation though.

Yes, it seems as if Misty has her story down pat. If what she said yesterday is the same thing she keeps repeating to LE, no wonder they're not getting anywhere. And when they give her the stink eye about her story, she conveniently throws in Joe The Cousin who "messed with her", and then later she remembers (supposedly) that he used a cinder block in all his crimes.

But yet she remembers nothing else about the night Haleigh disappears - or does she? She rattles off all her activities as if they are scripted, but when someone goes against the script, she's stumped on how to answer it. I'd be willing to bet that if someone stopped her when she rattles off about the blanket washing and asked what color the blankets were, she'd be looking to Ron (or Teresa, or GGM Sykes) on how to answer.

When LE finally busted her chops about that night, she walks out claiming the investigator was rude to her.

I've never seen a case where LE forced or suggested marriage between two yet-to-be-cleared "suspects" in a missing child case. Or in any case for that matter.

You and I asked the same question about the wall. I'll have to do a search to find out more about that wall. Was it connected to something? Did they think something was hidden there? Were there fingerprints or blood stains on that wall? Is the water heater in the laundry room?

Trying to connect the dots....I think the blanket is a clue, the wall another and possibly the gun that was supposedly ditched but we never got a confirmation from LE about the gun, right? Now they took down the door after realeasing the home and said it was no longer a crime scene. hmmmmmm

Neither one of us can envision Ron marrying Misty to gain her trust at the request of LE. You have that right -- no way!

I only watched the video of the Today Show. First viewing I purposely watched RC & Misty without any sound to pick up on that.
Misty = 95% expressionless face except when she went into her script and looked upward, prayer-hands kept between her knees.
Ron = avoidance, arms crossed, left knee jiggled entire time, with a sneer or two plus the occasional upthrust of the chin. I bet they had to ask him to remove his wrap-around shades -- his latest crutch.
2nd and 3rd times I watched did not dissuade my skepticism about both of them.
They are both just plain weird ... neither one of them seem open, forthcoming, engaging. [JMO]

My only problem is where is Haleigh? I can't believe a 17 year old could have hidden her body without a trace, if she is responsible. Did she get help?

As for the gun...At start of the case Ron was questioned about an argument/fight the night Haleigh went missing w/someone...possibly Cousin Joe. He denied it and said the fight had been weeks prior. Then TN does an interview and says the fight WAS the night Haleigh vanished. ..ummmm....Then I heard the "gun" was found in the ditch and LE has it. If Missy chased someone out of the house with gun I would see no reason she would not say that...KWIM..??I mean that would have been a good story..Intruder breaks in and takes Haleigh and she(Misty) chases them out of the house but she could not get Haleigh back..???? This entire case is full of BS..on Misty's part as well as Ron's part. JMO

Just to make sure we are all on the same page, here are excerpts from the link about the polygraph tests -

Bowling said authorities have not released results of the tests, which were given by FBI agents shortly after Haleigh vanished on Feb. 10.

Initially, Putnam County authorities said "the world is a suspect" in Haleigh's disappearance but Bowling narrowed the focus on Friday.

"We haven't eliminated anybody connected to it as a suspect," he said.

LE does have the results. It seems they have not felt it necessary to say anything publicly about them before now. The FBI agents who gave them would have been able to determine at the time they were being taken whether the test taker was being inconsistent, deceptive, etc.

I believe there are inconsistencies specifically about the bed - as in, which bed Haleigh was in. I have a very strong hunch that Misty initially was firm in her statement that she & Haleigh were in the SAME bed.

And I'd be willing to bet that someone pointed out to her that if Haleigh was in bed asleep BEFORE Misty went to bed, then it stands to reason that Haleigh was on the inside of the mattress - the side that would be against the wall. So how the heck would the abductor reach over Misty & snatch Haleigh out of the bed? And why would Misty not notice soon as she woke up that Haleigh was not still in bed with her?

I think as soon as it was pointed out to Misty that it would be completely out of the realm of reasonable possibility for Haleigh to be on the inside of the mattress & be abducted while Misty was sleeping on the outside - THEN Misty decided that Haleigh must have been on the little mattress & it was really Junior who was in bed with her.

Good morning to you. Many theories yesterday about the "wedding." IMO LE had Nothing to do with it. Possibly suggest wearing a wire but not a wedding. As for the gun...At start of the case Ron was questioned about an argument/fight the night Haleigh went missing w/someone...possibly Cousin Joe. He denied it and said the fight had been weeks prior. Then TN does an interview and says the fight WAS the night Haleigh vanished. ..ummmm....Then I heard the "gun" was found in the ditch and LE has it. If Missy chased someone out of the house with gun I would see no reason she would not say that...KWIM..??I mean that would have been a good story..Intruder breaks in and takes Haleigh and she(Misty) chases them out of the house but she could not get Haleigh back..???? This entire case is full of BS..on Misty's part as well as Ron's part. JMO

Yes, it seems as if Misty has her story down pat. If what she said yesterday is the same thing she keeps repeating to LE, no wonder they're not getting anywhere. And when they give her the stink eye about her story, she conveniently throws in Joe The Cousin who "messed with her", and then later she remembers (supposedly) that he used a cinder block in all his crimes.

But yet she remembers nothing else about the night Haleigh disappears - or does she? She rattles off all her activities as if they are scripted, but when someone goes against the script, she's stumped on how to answer it. I'd be willing to bet that if someone stopped her when she rattles off about the blanket washing and asked what color the blankets were, she'd be looking to Ron (or Teresa, or GGM Sykes) on how to answer.

She did the same thing yesterday. Used the word "our" in reference to the blanket(s). It seems like she corrected herself on either the "our" or the "blanket" (making it plural). I'll have to go dig it up again. I couldn't stomach watching it more than once.

Remember, early on she said "my blanket was in the van that they took and that she washed Haleigh's blanket because it smelled. (Then she couldn't remember what night it was that Haleigh supposedly wet the bed and said "It must have been Sunday night". So this little mommy wannabe lets that blanket sit on the bed all day on Monday?

You and I asked the same question about the wall. I'll have to do a search to find out more about that wall. Was it connected to something? Did they think something was hidden there? Were there fingerprints or blood stains on that wall? Is the water heater in the laundry room?

Just to make sure we are all on the same page, here are excerpts from the link about the polygraph tests -

Initially, Putnam County authorities said "the world is a suspect" in Haleigh's disappearance but Bowling narrowed the focus on Friday.

LE does have the results. It seems they have not felt it necessary to say anything publicly about them before now. The FBI agents who gave them would have been able to determine at the time they were being taken whether the test taker was being inconsistent, deceptive, etc.

I agree. I believe her initial statement was true but then she changed it. The question is why? As you mentioned in your post it could very well be where Haleigh was sleeping in the big bed. The other theory is that Haleigh did wet the "blanket" in the big bed. Misty stumbled on the blanket question in the interview. She said Haleigh's then "ours"....she got caught in her inconsitent statement, imo. If it's "ours" that would mean the big bed blanket and that's the blanket Haleigh probably soiled and sadly could very well have been punished for doing so. I still question where Junior was. Could Junior have been with grandma or great grandma? I don't think he was there that night. When great grandma dropped off the clothes, maybe she took Junior back with her. Maybe that's why Ron insists that Junior made up the story about the black man because Junior wasn't there. Junior may have told Crystal the truth. Just a thought.

I only watched the video of the Today Show. First viewing I purposely watched RC & Misty without any sound to pick up on that.
Misty = 95% expressionless face except when she went into her script and looked upward, prayer-hands kept between her knees.
Ron = avoidance, arms crossed, left knee jiggled entire time, with a sneer or two plus the occasional upthrust of the chin. I bet they had to ask him to remove his wrap-around shades -- his latest crutch.
2nd and 3rd times I watched did not dissuade my skepticism about both of them.

The blanket has something to do with this whole thing, somehow, it was in her original statement and she has mentioned it in every version since (I think, no link), when it's all said and done (soon hopefully), the "blanket" puzzle piece will fit in somewhere. Even if she fabricated the story and/or parts of the story, the blanket must have played some roll in it and that piece sticks in her mind.

I was on the fence, for the most part, until her appearance on the Today show, but her body language and just the look on her face, screams to me "LIAR", she speaks like she knows that everyone knows, she is lying, she is just waiting to be busted for it.

My guess is that the information Cobra going to be gathering is going to come from people outside of the immediate family members. I think all of them probably have heard what each one has said publicly - now the trick is to find out where all the running buddies are, who are the people who hung around them, what do the neighbors say about what life was typically like around the MH.

Does anyone recall seeing the video of the outside of the house where it shows a bunch of the kids' toys? I notice on one of the news websites that more than one person has commented that there were also beer bottles all OVER the place - anyone here notice that, too? IIRC MC said that when she was getting the children ready for bed, she noticed that Haleigh's blanket smelled like pee. She said she put a sheet on Haleigh and washed that blanket and a blanket she took down from the window. MC said her(MC's blanket) was taken in the van. Hopefully "Cobra" can distinguish any good information from the information that people are giving based on which side of the family they represent. I just wish there was not so much venom in this case. Time and energy should be used for finding Haleigh and not for someone's personal agenda. JMO

It struck me as somewhat curious that for a man who believes someone came in & 'stole' (sic) his child - he had a bit of a sneer on his face while he dismissed the story that Junior might have seen a man in black (or a black man, or a black man in black).

It's so interesting to watch these videos again and pick up on some of the things you may have missed the first time around.

I notice his cell phone rang and he didn't pick up. It gave me the chills. I had a flash back of Scott Peterson when he was doing the interview when Laci was missing and the phone rang but he didn't bother even to check to see who may have been calling. A lead to his wife's disappearance. Same case here.

I can't watch that today, but I recall that when I heard it some time ago it was one of the primary things that caused a freezing bolt of creepiness to run straight up my spine. People who are genuinely crying cannot stop on a dime like that. Not possible. Doesn't happen. It was that, the throwing himself on the ground as if he was a child, the carrying on during the 911 call, the fact that he started off the whole story with an alibi or excuse for himself - all that off-the-wall, phony crap that brought me to the conclusion that he is full of it.

Theresa didn't give the ring to Misty - she gave her ring to her son. I think it's pretty common with an heirloom engagement ring, to give it to a son to use for his bride. It would be strange, in my opinion, to give it to a daughter, because the man gives the engagement ring. You could give it to a daughter to wear as ornamental or sentimental jewelry, but not as an engagement ring.

It struck me as somewhat curious that for a man who believes someone came in & 'stole' (sic) his child - he had a bit of a sneer on his face while he dismissed the story that Junior might have seen a man in black (or a black man, or a black man in black).

Which raises the question - if Ron is that dismissive of Junior's story & believes it was all BS created by Crystal &/or her family, why the faux concern about Junior's safety, once that story was made pubic & Junior's face was shown on TV? It's one more thing that is completely contradictory between Crystal & Ron - as well as being completely contradictory between Ron & his own mother. If the 'man in black' story is BS, then there is no 'man in black' kidnapper to get all in a frenzy over being seen by a little boy.

And if it was so wrong to show Junior's face on TV when it was his mother who was responsible - why was it not also so wrong to show Junior's face at the weddng ceremony? If Ron &/or Teresa were that concerned, they could have requested the media to please fuzz out Junior's face when the video was broadcast over the air.

But LE doesn't need her to be married in order to treat her like an adult when they question her. They have that ability all along. Remember the King brothers, Alex & Derek? They were both a LOT younger than Misty & LE had no problem questioning them in whatever fashion they deemed appropriate at the time.

If LE has been babying Misty, I would tend to believe it is part of their strategy, not because the law requires them to question a juvenile one way & an adult a different way.

If they arrest her, an attorney will be provided for her & she will more than likely stop talking. By not arresting her at this time, they can hope she will continue talking. I get the notion that LE is ready to start putting some public heat on her & Ron - by letting out just a bit of info - that nobody close to the case has been cleared, that no one has been told that they "passed" a polygraph, etc.

I am trying very hard not to post disparaging things about either Ron or Crystal. Every time I start to, I see Mark Lunsford's face. He took such abuse, not just here, but all over.

I am trying really hard but it is getting increasingly more difficult :sad:The first time I heard Mark Lunsford speak I could feel his pain and fear...it was in his voice, his eyes...it was palpable.

Doesn't bode well for Haleigh that there doesn't seem to be a clue as to what really went down.

Initially I thought Misti too unsophisticated & naive to withstand not only LE's interviews but also the FBI's. She has been up against some people who are well versed in interrogation techniques, although I am not sure about local law enforcement.

Anyone on the board who is an expert on body language? Two people just married, Ron sitting with his arms folded in a closed up position (Today show)..neither Misti or Ron in any kind of supportive postions for each other. Most people would be clinging to each other, help me get thru this interview, help me get thru my child being missing.

Neither Misty nor Ron seem to be able to articulate exactly what went on...is it their inability to string words together in a reasonable & sensible way or are they holding back on the events of that evening?

I was thinking the same thing as the other poster about Cindy and George being out of town when Caylee's remains were found. I just wondered if LE somehow planned to announcement to coincide with them being out of town. Maybe they had information a little earlier but held on to it, waiting? It sure made things easier with the search. Right off the top of my little pointed head, I would say stiff & detached. Lemme ponder on it. He looks cold, unemotional, almost. I've been married 4 times (can't make jello either, my 2 failures), no way would I marry anybody with his demeanor, even in his stressful state.

I agree that she knows everyone knows she's lying and tried to explain it last night but I don't think I did a very good job of it. I'll try again.

It's been my experience that when an adult is trying to get to the bottom of something where kids are involved there is a point where the lying doesn't even sound beleivable to them and that's when you get the sheepish, "I dunno." It's all they have left.

That is the first thing that popped into my mind when I heard the "I dunno" response from Misty in the interveiw yesterday. After the long pause and the realization that Ron wasn't going to help her out, she had nothing left but "I dunno."

No proof of that, of course, but it didn't make any difference. She's where she belongs...sitting in jail with a life sentence with no parole.

I think the blanket story, in the way Misty mixes it all up, supports the theory that Haleigh WAS in the same bed with Misty. I don't recall specifically where I read it, but I am pretty sure that Misty related the blanket washing story at least one time to indicate that the blanket was something both she & Haleigh would have been sharing. Misty said something along the lines of "I washed OUR blanket".

Maybe the blanket will have DNA of a "3rd" person in the house and that "3rd person" isnt really supposed t be there IMO... I have a feeling that Misty left that evening and possibly asked his cousin Joe to watch the kids. Misty possibly came back after 2am ( she wants to come back before Ron comes home ) - Neighbor heard a woman screaming around 230am - it could be Misty screaming Joe or that "3rd person" --- and little boy was right - Man in Black took Haleigh ( he said it was Man in black because it is dark - Haleigh was sleeping beside him and the man took her and possibly brought her in the living room to raped her.

Misty knew more than what she's saying IMO. That screaming around 230am that the neighbor heard tells us that there is something more to this story other than Haleigh was taken by a stranger

At this point I think any "leads" that amounted to something more than gossip or an ax to grind would have been investigated and ruled in or out. The leads would also have to pertain to the facts surrounding Haleigh's disappearance. (Those complaints from ex-wives blew me away...what a waste of manpower having to deal with that when a child is missing.)

I was sorry to see Tim Miller leave and Ron didn't want him to go. If LE asked him to leave (and I've read where they claim they didn't) because they felt they had proof she was still alive and they had an idea of what happened to her, they were obviously wrong. Why don't they ask him to come back?

That is my fear. Giving her a break, I think she was and still traumatized. As time goes by if she remembers something she actually believed and told LE, she will now be afraid to tell them. My own trauma in my life caused me to remember things differently as time passed. I was not lying it was the way I remembered it at the time. I do not think Ron wanted to get married at all. I will not be surprised at all if Misty is not pregnant.

In the beginning when this all took place, with all the filming, etc. they always had their arms around each other, etc. So, I don't think Ron is one of those men that are afraid to show his emotions in public. I think he was in so much pain, he was leaning on Misty a lot. Now, he acts like he does not even want to touch her. Has anyone else noticed that?

I think Ron either got married because Misty is pregnant and that would not look good - not get married with a custody battle getting ready to hit......OR

Initially I thought Misti too unsophisticated & naive to withstand not only LE's interviews but also the FBI's. She has been up against some people who are well versed in interrogation techniques, although I am not sure about local law enforcement.

Anyone on the board who is an expert on body language? Two people just married, Ron sitting with his arms folded in a closed up position (Today show)..neither Misti or Ron in any kind of supportive postions for each other. Most people would be clinging to each other, help me get thru this interview, help me get thru my child being missing.

Neither Misty nor Ron seem to be able to articulate exactly what went on...is it their inability to string words together in a reasonable & sensible way or are they holding back on the events of that evening?

I believe LE has a pretty good idea what happened but nobody with any knowledge will say anything and without a body there is no where to turn. I believe either Ron and/or Misty caused Haleigh to be dead and they got rid of the body, or someone Ron angered took Haleigh and he won't tell LE because he's going to deal with it himself.

It is easy to broken record say "I don't know". LE has never been able to get Casey Anthony to admit to anything. She sticks to the nanny story and Ron sticks to I don't know I was at work and Misty to I don't know.

I agree. Misty might just have been fed-up taking care of the kids, maybe she felt suffocated by them, doing the laundry, cooking and all the other day to day humdrum things. She's young and wants to party...the bed wetting might have just pushed her over the edge...

But since he married her, he now have full access to her and possibly will need to cover something up. I get the feeling LE does NOT like any outsider's to involved in their work and Tim, in their opinion is an outsider. LE needs to get over this and allow Tim, back in to search and treat him with the respect he has earned in his searches.

I highly doubt that Tim will ever return to search for Haleigh, he was called in the first time because he has a new piece of equipment that is very effective in searching bodies of water and I think LE's first guess was that Haleigh would be found in the St John's River. After the Caylee search there are 100 members of TES in the Orlando and I haven't seen anything about them assisting in any search since Tim left.

I have a feeling that Misty left that evening and possibly asked his cousin Joe to watch the kids. Misty possibly came back after 2am ( she wants to come back before Ron comes home ) - Neighbor heard a woman screaming around 230am - it could be Misty screaming Joe or that "3rd person" --- and little boy was right - Man in Black took Haleigh ( he said it was Man in black because it is dark - Haleigh was sleeping beside him and the man took her and possibly brought her in the living room to raped her.

Misty knew more than what she's saying IMO. That screaming around 230am that the neighbor heard tells us that there is something more to this story other than Haleigh was taken by a stranger

ITA I think this is close to what happened or misti just wasnt there at all.
I believe someone was there that she does not want Ron to know about. After the rumors of the fight Joe seems to be a very likely candidate. Misti cant say he was there so she tells LE she thinks he may have taken her. She wants to stay silent about it because she doesnt want to lose Ron but wants Haleigh found so she points Joe out.
