Yes it is going to be a long night.

Two things stand out in my memory:

1) Dogs tracked her to the water

2) Misty says she "took out the trash", along with all that cleaning and laundry.

Has she (Misty) been taken back home from the police station yet?

Hi everyone

Katie and Jomomma

Motomom
02-26-2009, 08:44 PM
Wouldn't someone around that area smell something if she was there? Decomp would over power trash smell wouldn't it? grrr I have a meeting to go to in a little bit and I'm gonna miss ng

Motomom
02-26-2009, 08:45 PM
Yep looked like they were loading the dumpster on the back of a truck . IF they found NOTHING why would they do that?

It's not the new one getting dropped off?? Doesn't make sense for them to take the old one if there was nothing in there :(

My thought too. And why not continue searching through it. The man with the hand signals kind of makes me uneasy.

Im back in.....

They wouldnt....IMO

but it could be something else...Supposedly its human specific cadaver dogs that made the hit...but another story was that it could be a used bandage...or other waste.

Tia

there is still trash in the dumpster. they are waiting for dumpster number two to show up.

I assume to hold the stuff from the first dumpster?

KKKKKKatie
02-26-2009, 08:47 PM
yeah i think its the new one they just brought in.

OMG the family has been told NOT to come to the site and stay at their site.

just heard that

DO we know for sure the dumpster was emptied 2 weeks ago??

I know sometimes in construction they don't pick them up until they are called and told that it is full. ....just from experience in construction business I know that sometimes is the case.

emdragon
02-26-2009, 08:47 PM
JMO but i don't think they found anything in that dumpster

they all seem to be just standing around talking now away from the dumpster... no more digging through bags or anything

They just notified the families NOT to go down where the dumpster is- sadly that doesn't sound like nothing

I've not posted here for a while, this case gave me a few nightmares, and sleepless nights, so I just check in from time to time to see if there is any 'new' news. Tonight I see there is...

So, from what I understand, they took notice of this dumpster about 2 - 3 hours ago? Was it a tip from the public, or did a dog hit on the spot?

Does anyone know far away this dumpster is from where she lived?

I pray Haleigh is alive, I honestly do.... but if she isn't, I hope this is the clue they need to find her so she can be laid to rest properly.

Does anyone know where I can see a live feed of this online?

TIA.

JVM talking to local reporter on scene. Reporter said Teresa, maternal grandmother, told her moments ago LE told the family to stay at their respective sights and not to come to the dumpster site.

She also reported she has seen LE briefing the family daily.

So on the Jane V-M show just now, according to the reporter ON THE SCENE at the Cummings Tent she, the reporter, has seen LE brief the family daily.

Yet people, Crystal and/or Crystal's mother, have said LE 'don't tell them nothin'.'

Once again, how very weird. [JMO]

Thank you Myka... my goodness!

It sounds very ominous that they are removing that dumpster, but on the other hand, surely they would have checked it already?

Would someone be so brazen as to dump her little body into it recently with everyone about? (That's a rhetorical question, I guess)

IF she is in there, or ever was, I'm hoping that they find heaps of evidence to convict the perp.

Just thinking aloud here. These guys don't appear to be affected by any odor.
Does anyone know how long decomp smell lasts? Or it could be that remains of fluids or blood is in there in a separate bag from where Haleigh really is, a blanket, clothing etc.,... or that she was removed.

I hope it's just a bandage of some sort, would dogs hit on a bit of dried blood?

It's seems more logical to me for them to move the dumpster to a secure area where they can take their time checking it than to do it there, where people are actually putting up ladders so they can stare over the fence to see what's going on

They are still in a tent? I thought someone had supplied a camper for them.
The camper trailer was loaned to Ron Cummings. There is no way the entire Cummings clan can fit into the camper trailer. The woman who loaned Ron Cummings her camper trailer was because she felt bad seeing HE was sleeping in a leaking tent during the rain.

There is no way for the entire Sheffield clan can fit into it either.

Each family, the Cummings and the Sheffields, has their own tent site but the tent sites are not right next to one other for obvious reasons. [JMO]

It is my understanding that it is a construction dumpster. In my experience they only dump them when they are full and call. There is no schedule. I sure others who have undergone construction will agree. moo

wondering?
02-26-2009, 09:17 PM
I am hoping that they shoo the media away from the dumpster, there is no need for all the world to see what is or is not found. Remember the song "Dirty Laundry", how so many feed on sadness and hearing about the sorrow and trouble of others.
We will hear soon enough what is found without seeing it as it unfolds.

Here's hoping that Haleigh is found safe and sound and that her family can be rewarded for their talking to the media and giving us all a look into their personal sorrow. And did it in spite of so many people picking apart every word, every expression, their use of the English language, their hair style, they still declare their love for their child and want her found.

Don't know how much faith I put into these sorts of things (dreams and visions) but, this site (see below link) has been mentioned on here several times in the past. And so periodically I go and look at it just to see what new things are being mentioned.

Anyway, yesterday I read through a lot of info and interestingly enough, a dumpster was mentioned (back on Feb 14th). And, lo and behold, today they are talking about a dumpster on the news.

Here is the link. The dumpster is mentioned almost at the top of the page.

Ronald's choice was to stay nearby in a tent, despite being offered places to stay with family in the area. (This was early on). Later, someone offered him the use of the RV in which he is currently staying.

I'd bet money if they find her in there the big blue tent will go up before they remove her.

That's my understanding too.
My townhouse neighbour, when she was renovating, had one on our shared driveway for 10 weeks!! (when she said it would be there for 2!).

It was mentioned though that this one was emptied two weeks ago.

A BIG what if...

If this was emptied two weeks ago, was it because it was full or because of smell? Would a bunch of construction workers even put a missing child together with a stinky dumpster? Maybe one of the workers got to thinking about it and contacted LE.

I think it would be very noticeable if the dumpster was only being used for construction materials, or was it open for everybody to use? At the end of JVM's show she said the 2nd dumpster just brought in was going to be used for 'non-relevant' garbage.

No, when a human body decomposes, it releases certain gasses. I can't recall the names of them right off, but there are two distinct gasses that are not released from animals or blood smells. The dogs are trained to alert to these gasses. Blood on a bandaid wouldn't cause them to alert.

they do alert on blood....and on a construction site there could be cuts that would bleed LOTS....and blood is by definition connective tissue ...when it breaks down over a period of time it releases cadaverine also.

I'd expect a message to stay away from the dumpster search to be simply a suggestion to help them avoid an unpleasant scene - garbage, and worrying every bit might be the missing child, anxiety causing you to read secret messages in every bit of trash, every random way someone tilts their head - they shouldn't be there, for their own sake, even or especially if she isn't there.

Amber Alert -- Dumpster Searched In Putnam Co.

Searchers have cordoned off an area in Putnam County.

Investigators have searched a Dumpster in a subdivision that's approximately a quarter-mile away from the home of Haleigh Cummings.

The contents from the Dumpster has been placed into a second, where investigators are going through the bags one by one.

Investigators are now using a backhoe to sift through debris in the first Dumpster.

According to News 13's Saul Saenz, investigators took pictures of the Dumpster before taking out the contents.

Neighbors told Saenz when cadaver dogs got close to the Dumpster, they started barking.

These are cadaver dogs - trained specifically to find dead bodies. They would not alert to dried human blood from a living human being.

Might be that there was construction garbage near the bottom of the dumpster, after removeing what looked like household garbage they needed the backhoe to move the rest of it.

JMO

I'm thinking the same thing. It was called a construction dumpster but it seems people might have just helped themselves to using it for everything else. If there were construction materials in it, they'd need some equipment to go through large, heavy pieces. MOO

So more than one cadaver dog hit on the dumpster? Oh, my:sad:

Not necessarily, some construction dumpsters such as this only get dumped when the renter calls them. Perhaps they have regularly scheduled dumps though. I don't understand that a construction dumpster one football field away would be allowed to dump at all after the night she was reported missing. Perhaps that is when they checked it and released it though? I don't know. Why does it seem everything always end up being within arms reach :cursing:

Have you ever been to a landfill? I have unfortunately when we had to replace our garage doors and empty out the garage. Large items have to be taken to the dump. Almost immediately after we emptied out the back of the truck huge tractors with compactors crunched up and turned under all the contents so they were not even identifiable. I can't imagine after 3 weeks going by anything could be found there. The ground looked like a tilled row of farm land. Everything was totally smashed.

Still why did they bring out the dogs today to began with. Le said there would be no more searches unless something came up to merit a further search. They seemed to be on a mission searching neighboring trailers especially underneigth them.

Wonder why they took Ron back into the trailer. I cannot help but wonder if it all had anything to do with Misty`s 3 hour interview today. 3 hours after a 5 hour interview the other day seems like a very long time...........unless they are on to something and grilling her in hopes she will break.

I listened closely to the original 911 tapes and more convinced than ever that Ron accidentally killed Haleigh. No man starts crying and sobbing finding his daughter is gone. He wants help to find her, yelling maybe, and calling for her but not those muffled type sobs and cracked voice. His emotions were raw and real, but it was his grief in having killed her that was coming through. I don't see this guy being the soft male in touch with his feminine side. Not by anything we have seen of him on camera

Cadaver dogs are supposed to hit on human remains which have at least started the process of putrefaction, which is different than simple decomposition. Putrefaction in humans includes the breakdown of amines & produces cadaverine & putrescine.

Simple dried blood (even if degraded), such as would be found on bandages which were on a living person, would not be the sort of thing a cadaver dog should hit on.

I'm sure like everything else, errors can occur.
