Week One
When officers arrived on the scene of missing Haleigh Cummings, they started their ground search for the 5 year old. Using a K9 and tracking Haleigh's scent on foot, led investigators on a path of a wandering child.
K9 Evidence in initial report
Putnam County called in a K9 unit to help find missing Haleigh. Jeff Hardy and the K9 unit initiated a track beginning at the back/side door of the residence. The track lead directly out the backdoor, and down a wooded path, as we traveled down the wooded path, we located what appeared to be a small child's footprint in the dirt. It was noted that Ronald said Haleigh's shoes were still inside the residence. The track led to a pond and then back to Green Drive. At the last residence on the right side of Green Dr. was a small building with a door which had been left open. I entered the building and verified that no one was inside. The track then continued north past the residence, where we made a left turn on Monroe Ave. We made another left onto Buchanan Circle, which we followed in a loop back to Monroe Ave. (the next sentence was removed, blacked out) We then made a right turn on Buffalo Bluff Road, to the railroad crossing, where we were forced to end the track, because the K9 was unable to follow it further.

Items of interest found?
SATSUMA - Items of interest found Friday during a search for Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings were of "no significance" and a search today has turned up nothing so far, a Sheriff's Office official said this afternoon. The troubling news came as a growing sense of gloom and hopelessness for the well-being of Haleigh, 5, has fallen over the little girl’s south Putnam County neighborhood during the fifth day of the search.
Roughly 250 people on horseback, all-terrain vehicles and foot resumed their search of thick scrub land and woods about 9 a.m. Dive teams also continued in the St. Johns River about 300 yards from Haleigh's home. The land search will resume Sunday, but the water search will be suspended unless further information is developed, said Chief Rick Ryan of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies chased after and stopped a truck about noon after some family members yelled out that they noticed something suspicious about the vehicle as it traveled past on Buffalo Bluff Road. When deputies opened the doors, they saw a pile of clothes with what appeared to be something under it. But when deputies searched further, they found nothing and let the startled driver go.

The Reported TN Sighting
A reported sighting of a white man and a white woman with a little girl resembling Haleigh Cummings was seen outside a Carrabba's restaurant in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated, but found nothing. The witness stated they saw the couple shielding the little girls face as they walked with a little girl who looked like Haleigh. They entered a red Toyota RAV4 with Florida license plates and drove away. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has no further information and at this time is unable to confirm the girl was actually Haleigh Cummings. There is some discrepancy through media reporting whether or not there was actually a couple with the child or just a man.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Department questioned a man in Tennessee. Sheriff Jeff Hardy said the man is a relative of Misty Croslin. The Sheriff's department at the time would not reveal what kind of relative the man is to Croslin, later Misty pointed out a cousin who was suspicious.
Haleigh's paternal grandmother, Teresa Neves, said Croslin's cousin visited Putnam County days before Haleigh's disappearance. Neves said the cousin and Haleigh's dad, Ronald Cummings, got into a fight about a gun during that visit, although Ronald Cummings denies the argument ever took place. She also said the suspected cousin left town the same day Haleigh disappeared. Later in an Interview with the Today Show LE confirmed no one has been ruled out as a suspect yet.

Tim Miller & EquuSearch were involved initially in finding Haleigh, but later revealed they were packing up and going back to Texas. On their web site they had the following to say...
"We are leaving with tears in our eyes and pain in our heart, for we have not found Haleigh yet. However, we are also leaving with many new friends and much hope…for we have met a lot of new people and seen the best that people have to offer. This search effort has brought out the best in mankind. When tragedy struck this small community of Satsumah, the residents responded. Our members and volunteers have been treated with the utmost care and respect and we are so very grateful."
