Oppss I meant I was going on the 22nd got my dates wrong
We'll look forward to details of your experience - including the interesting sights and sounds besides the race. I went to Talladega once - the race was great - but what a drunken zoo outside of that.
We rode around a bit to see the sights on Sat. night - had to put my 12 yr old grandaughter inside the cab of the truck to keep her safe from drunk guys trying to dive into the truck to get at her. yuck

I agree...going to the races is an adventure. My husband and I went to a race at Talladega, this woman(who shouldn't have been...if you know??) was showing her "girls" for $5.00 a pop.Men were telling her they would give her $5.00 to keep her top on!!:scared:

Don't count Tony out even with a back-up car. Smoke is heck on wheels when he's angry - and he's angry (again) at Goodyear! What's up with Goodyear? That "it was a bad batch" comment about an earlier bunch of tires they sent is just amazing to me. NASCAR needs to deal with them.
I like Tony - he does alot for the sport - supports the up and coming youngsters and kids just getting started; works like a bear on his own dirt track. I know he's a "guys' guy" and a little rough around the edges, but he has grown up alot after being set straight by his crew a couple of years ago. He could even set an example for young Kyle Bush at this point.

I know - really drunk guys just thinking gotta get the pretty girl! I doubt they were picking up on the details - like that she didn't even quite have a figure yet - just a pretty face. Now that she has a figure to go with the face we wouldn't let her anywhere near that track in or out of the truck!

I became a fan the day Dale Sr died and been watching Nascar ever since. That's why I'm a Jr fan because I wanted to see Jr do as well as his daddy. I love watching all the old races and seeing Dale Sr do his thing!
I saw Dale Sr. win many races, took all kinds of pictures of him taking the flag and doing victory laps. I saw Dale Sr. die. That night I became a full time Dale Jr. fan.
Dale Sr. may be gone....but never forgotten.

 Jr is going to get blasted for what Vickers had all the control of. I see Jr. clipped him but Vickers had him pushed down to the grass. Go Jr Go!!!!!!!!!! May his daddy RIP. My DH saw that race so I need to almost be silent during this race every year. I didn't start watching racing till I met him and at the start of the race, he had goose bumps.
I know. I realize the feeling of needing to be quite during this race, I feel that way too.
Although, after seeing what Vickers did to Junior, I have to yell at the television. I hate Darryl Waltrip, he is such a whiny man. Going right out and blaming Junior. He makes me sick and so does his brother Michael.
Oh, right now they are blaming Junior.

I'm a 38 D so I better make sure to not be wearing a low cut top to the race. I think it will be cold so I will be wearing a jacket. My husband is use to guys staring at my chest but I don't think he wants to be dealing with drunk aholes so I'll just wear some sweats to the race so I don't draw that much attention. And since it's going to be loud I'm going to bring some ear phones. The kind with the radio in them? I think that would be great - to hear the race commentary while watching right there. Sometimes it hard to see everything that is going on. You can't quite see who hit who and who got caught up in it.
I just have noise reducing ear phones I bought at Walmart (under $10) and I bought two boxes of earplugs also ($1.99 ea) - which I have used to line inside the ear phones to further reduce the decible level. (Trick I was told about at our local gun range). Very comfy and works well.

I'll be at the race tomorrow so Jr better win dang it! Well almost everyone likes Jr. and I do wish him well; but I can't imagine why anyone "can't stand" Jimmy Johnson. He's not the most exciting guy in public (apparently very funny when among family and friends) but he's a good driver and seems like a good guy... well liked by other drivers. Hey guys! Well I have to report on my first Nascar race. Very sad that Jr didn't make it into the top 10 again:angry: Damn car problems! Have to say hubby was happy because his favorite came in 2nd (Gordon) It was sooooooo loud there and I'm talking about the cars I couldn't even hear myself talk! I'm glad I brought some noise reducing earphones!!! Half the time if I wanted to talk to my husband I had to text him  I spent about $100 on Dale Jr fan stuff some cute tanktops and mini Jr cars but I didn't get a chance to get them signed by him yet but I will hopefully next time:wink: It didn't rain but it did sprinkle alittle I was scared that it was going to start pouring down on us! There are some crazy fans there and drunk as heck I hope they had someone drive them home. Over all it was really exciting to see these cars up close they are a piece of work and so much goes into making these cars run the way they do and I hope that Jr's bad luck streak is over.
Thanks for the "up close and personal" report! How fun and at least you got to see checkered flag. It's quite an experience...btw,I'm with your hubby on his favorite (<thumbsup>).

GREETINGS!
HOME SWEET HOME! The Busch brothers nab the front row for Sunday's Shelby 427. However, that's not how the race will begin as Kyle Busch drops to the rear of the field after an engine change earlier in practice. Jimmie Johnson, who qualified third, will start up front as the entire inside row moves up because of Busch.

That was a pretty good finish I think. Jeff's still gonna lead in points I reckon so I'm happy with his second place today.
Great finish... wish Gordon would of won.. but 2nd is cool. And I agree about the points.
I wondered if you were going this year Doug.
Have fun!

We had a great time. It was a sunny, 75 degree day with just a slight breeze. You put that together with the roar of those engines and I couldn't help but think it just couldn't get any better than this.
I never thought I would ever say this but Kurt deserved to win that race.
Here is a picture a nice lady took of us in the parkng lot after the race with a nice view of Mecca in the background.

I'm starting to really wonder about Jr and his cousin. I think he needs a new crew chief! Jr isn't improving at all he's just doing ok. If he wants to win a championship something needs to change. He's starting this season off crappy he's driving like an average driver he's not living up to his hype. When I first become a fan of his he was doing so good and now seems to be doing worse every yr:thumbdown: Sorry I just had to vent! Very disappointed today without a win by Jr.
I too thought he'd do much better when he switched over to HMS but so far the wins are eluding him.

Agree with you...needs to change something.
Not sure if it's his crew chief, however...just may not have the same determination as his father.

I think you are right about his dad but as most of us know no one can be like Dale E. Jr. had so much pressure on him after his dads death:(
I think he is not putting his all into it either he has so much other things going on Darrell Waltrip even ask him if he thought he could do better only focusing on Nascar

WOW what a race..thought the first wreck was bad.. took out half the field... then the second was pretty up there...but that last one.. WOW..Edwards had a wild ride.. and is a total classy guy.. only thing that would of topped it would of been him doing a back flip across the finish line...lol.
Unfortunately 7 people were hurt by flying debris.. some not bad but two were airlifted to hospitals due to traffic. ESPN is reporting one woman has a possible broken jaw.

Dang, what you talkin' about! Jr was "given" the opportunity to race with the "winners", since he couldn't do it for DEI, and still hasn't been able to pull it off! Pathetic! I wouldn't think you'd want to watch 24 hit the wall, since 88 could, (I use the word "could" very loosely), help out a little with "owner points". IMO, he should have stayed with DEI and not mar a "winning team". :tonguewag: <<< back atcha!
OMG that was like a knife if the back littlewheels. I dont want to see anyone hit the wall it was a joke at least I said he was a good driver..back at ya:tonguewag:
T.E. + Little E and sis=Drama not racing just could not work things out cause of someones greed for money..glad he left DEI
