This case has so many McCann similarities. Maddie wasnt missing a week until "They found their cause." I personally think some people do this for the right reasons and others find its a way to keep money coming in.I didn't follow the McCann case, so I can't really compare ... but this was so obvious to me from very early on in this case. actually I was referring more to her Atty saying she's a victim and she doesn't understand why she's not looked upon kindly. A large portion of those distainful feelings toward her are based on her words and actions. When she goes on tv like she is again now, she kind of opens the door for any comments about her.
and in a lesser way, on message board people are often chastised for commenting on her but when she willingly puts herself in the line of fire it's hard to feel totally bad for her.
my opinions once again
I understand that, of course, but my point was that we are all responsible for our own comments. CA isn't "making us" do anything. If we tune in, we make the choice to listen to her.

Apologies for being O/T...........but D. Peterson's new ex-fiancee should be forever grateful to her daddy........He came to DP"s home and wouldnt leave until she and her 2 kids left with him............
That was possibly as a result of the Dr Phil show yesterday. Dr Phil was gong to talk to him off screen and give him some tips. He also had Jesse Grund and his father on, even Nancy Grace by satellite! Lisa Bloom was in the audience.

I've seen it in action. It can be very disconcerting, because not only are you sitting across from an adult, but one who has done the incredibly difficult work of getting and staying sober for an admirable length of time. So when the person does or says something inappropriate for their age and accomplishments, you're like  ??!!
You know it. If their sobriety has been consistently hard to maintain, they may not be able to have a whole lot of appreciation for just how immature & juvenile their behavior & thinking is. And they may not comprehend the need to try to CHANGE it & 'grow up', so to speak.

No remorse indeed, what is she smiling and laughing about? Her little girl was murdered, doubled bag in garbage bags, dumped in the woods, and all that's left of her is bones, so what is so darn amusing?? That would be enough for me. I agree. And Baez certainly isn't helping change that perception when he calls her "my girl" and tells us that he knows his client like no one else does.:sneaky: Also, the inappropriate behavior during the hearing y-day was just gross. I can't get that whole pen episode out of my head.:scared:
I don't think anything is going on, but Baez needs to nip this in the bud right now. I hope the next time he goes to visit Casey, he brings along a tape of the hearing and specifically points out to Casey the things that were inappropriate. He's worried about the media circus, but then he himself says and does things that just continue to add to the madness. I've said this many times, I would totally expect this type of thing from Casey, but Baez should know better.

aww hugs january. I am so sorry you had to go through that.
I still say that in most cases the wishes of the victims family are considered before the prosecution decides to seek the death penalty and in most cases a prosecutor will not put the family in that position if there is no other family members asking for the dp.
In this case that fact that caysee is female and young makes it less likely as well.
imo
True. I also think the DP by jurors is a decision when there is a child involved. I only served jury duty once for a hit and run and we had guidelines we had to follow. It wasnt like we could decide by just our thoughts and emotions.
I ahve noticed in cases, more people are given DP when there is a child involved. The DP can also be put on the table for a child under the age of 5 no matter how they were killed. With Andrea Yates, they only charged her with 3 kids but left the 2 youngest out. If she wasnt given the Dp for the 3, they would ahve gone back and had another trial for the 2 younger ones.
I am so glad I only have to go to crime scenes and collect evidence, package it and ship it, and also interview people. There are laws we have to follow but I am so glad I do not have to deal with courtroom stuff. It makes my head ache.

I think the defense experts and LKB could make at least one juror doubt Caylee's body was in the car, and maybe discredit some other forensic evidence, but it's going to be Casey not reporting Caylee missing and her own behavior, both in the 30 days before she's arrested and now, that's going to seal her fate to LWOP. :sneaky: MOO

I fired off this email to Geraldo, Greta and a few others
Please ask Cindy if they ever changed the locks on their doors after finding out that Zanny the Nanny had a key to their house.
afterall... Casey thought Zanny and her associates were dangerous and the reason she didnt report Caylee missing is because she was trying to protect her entire family from harm... so wouldnt you think that you'd change your locks after finding out that the dangerous nanny had a KEY?
In fact to this very day have they CHANGED their locks?
The only reason i can see for NOT changing your locks is because you know darn well that the dangerous kidnapper nanny does not exist so she obviously doesnt have a key and you're not in any danger of being robbed or assaulted.
If she says "yes we changed our locks"... please follow up and ask for the name of the locksmith, or if they did it themselves please ask where they bought the new locks and if she has a receipt.... I suspect they won't produce either one.

I haven't been able to read everything since yesterday but would like an answer to this question, if anyone knows off hand. Is it usual for an attorney to address a judge as "Judge" in Court. In 25 years of being in and out of Court (professionally and not as a defendant), I've never heard this - admittedly not in America. It has always been "your Honour". It just struck me as disrespectful, given my training.

What leads you to believe that Cindy "knows every speck of dust that has settled or been disturbed in her house"? I know that's been said on here before. I'm wondering where it came from.
Re the blanket. I think we're all pretty confident it was a blanket taken from the house. But do we know it was a blanket off Caylee's bed? Could it have been one of several of Caylee's blankets, and perhaps from a linen closet, or stored somewhere? Are we just assuming that Casey grabbed it from the bed? ..... and that Cindy "had to know" it was missing?
If a blanket were in fact missing from Caylee's bed, though...would that lead Cindy to necessarily think something sinister was going on? I don't know how. A missing blanket is not indicative of murder, IMO anyway.

A lot of attorneys address the court as judge its usually younger attorneys. I personally only call the judge I clerked for Judge. Kinda like a first name. Of course, the trouble comes and a sign of age is when your friends become judges and you have to remember not to call them by their first names.

In response to your opening question, I have a friend who is obsessive/compulsive about her clean home. I have often joked that I would like to move some little thing out of place just to see how long it would take her to notice it. She even puts her canned vegetables in alphabetical order in the cupboards, I could go on an on. As controlling as Cindy is, it wouldn't suprise me if she wouldn't notice something immediately.

Much as one might try to "mainstream" Cindy Anthony's behavior, comparing it to everyone else's more or less, it just ain't flying, imo. She's not the norm. That's precisely why she's the topic of so much discussion.
The responses to my posts are actually making my point for me! How one "comes across" is largely based on the interpretation of the listener. There was no defense of CA in my posts!
Just pointing out that we have a choice whether or not to listen to whatever she has to say.

Yikes, my ex hubby did that with my spices. That's why he's my ex.

This case has so many McCann similarities. Maddie wasnt missing a week until "They found their cause." I personally think some people do this for the right reasons and others find its a way to keep money coming in.
That said PN, I am wondering what the next move will be for Cindy and George. I have a very sick feeling that Conway and his VILLAIN statement concerning Cindy is the beginning of another round where Cindy will be out pandering for SYMPATHY FOR CASEY but never acknowledging they brought this all on themselves.
The entire TRAGEDY was BASED ON LIES from the START WITH CINDY and she needs to be taking responsibility for some of the SCREW UPS since she added much work for OCSD and has enabled her daughter to the point of TOTAL DISREGARD FOR THE LAW and the LIFE of that beautiful child she adored. I'm thoroughly sickened at the seemingly meaningless ending for Caylee and how her family has basically thrown her to the side to save Casey. JMO. :crying:

I didn't get to see all of the hearing yesterday but I've never heard of a lawyer addressing a judge that way! Yes, you're right, they're called "your Honor". I'm surprised he got away with it. MOO
When the call her "Your Honor," Judge Judy tells people to refer to her as "Judge."

I don't remember ever seeing that clip where Cindy denies that Casey ever got on that 911 call! She kept on denying it!
I didnt either watched it today...UnBELIEVABLE....even with her on video saying that she knew it was on tape she just kept on lying..
Heres another question I'd like someone to ask cindy why did you tell casey you weren't giving her any more time you already gave her 30 days.. Whats that all about cindy? I Still believe that the nanny story was all made up by all the A's...jmho...they knew something had happened to Caylee and they waited...to get stories straight... Just like the text to casey 'call me big problem" that was from cindy.......mo

That would totally make sense. Especially did you see the oddball way she asked. Almost like she was trying to trap Casey in a lie. Where is that ring? Who gave it to you again because I forget.
Yes, just the same way she asked if that was Zanny's apartment with the drums in the photo. Casey lied and said yes until Cindy told her she knew whose apt. it was. Then Casey "finally told the truth" after she lied. She always does, according to Cindy.

Oh sure it may not surprise us, but we can't be sure.
More importantly, we don't know that the blanket was taken off the bed, where Cindy might have noticed. If taken from elsewhere (closet), she most likely would not have noticed.

I think Casey made up the nanny story all on her own. As for the text, it was when Cindy found out about the money missing from the ALF on Father's Day. The big problem was she needed to confront Casey about the money.

While I think there's a lot Cindy has done wrong....IIRC she said "you've already had 30 days" I think there's a big difference.

There are a lot of things in this case that we can't be sure of but we still discuss the possibilites. Running off now, going to watch a rerun of NG.

Yes, because Casey may not always tell the truth but she doesn't lie. As Cindy said.
And at the same time she told her brother Rick, "Casey may be a liar ..."

Assuming facts not in evidence. We don't know what Cindy would notice missing or not. And we certainly don't know if the blanket was taken from a place where it would be noticed missing by anyone at all.
Too many assumptions, IMO. Can't assume in a case before a court of law.

You're right ~ and if it was in a closet or drawer, she might not have thought about it until Caylee was found. There are some things like that in the house I wouldn't notice as missing until I'd actually go looking for them.

Cindy also said that lying wasn't a criminal offense when her daughter was charged with 837.06 False official statements.--Whoever knowingly makes a false statement in writing with the intent to mislead a public servant in the performance of his or her official duty shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083. http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=&URL=Ch0837/Sec06.HTM
AND 837.055 False information to law enforcement during investigation.--Whoever knowingly and willfully gives false information to a law enforcement officer who is conducting a missing person investigation or a felony criminal investigation with the intent to mislead the officer or impede the investigation commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

I'm getting ready for the interview. Here's the hammer incident on 8/29 while Casey was out on bond. It's interesting to watch Cindy in action.

She needs to check herself in with George IMO
WOW! I had forgotten about that little gem. I remember her running outside at all times of the day and night hammering and arguing with anybody and everybody. That's just cindy folks.
Spoiling for a fight.
tonight should be interesting but I am fixin to not believe whatever this woman has to say.
Funny thing is after her not showing up yesterday I figured we wouldn't make it through the weekend without her opening her big mouth. She never fails me.

That was pretty much my interpretation, too. That Cindy was essentially saying It has taken me 30 days to get you & I in the same place at the same time, do NOT tell me you need more time - you have had plenty of time
