I agree.:glare: Her beautiful 2 year old daughter is dead, murdered, and her father is in the hospital being treated for psychiatric issues. I wouldn't see any reason to laugh or smile if I was in that situation.

Could have been a nervous smile, but still.

Wonder if Casey can get any Beignets in jail? Did she REALLY flirt with Baez in court (missed the hearing...boo hoo)?

do they have King cakes there...???

Maybe some witch doctor from New Orleans could send her one with a transfiguration spell in it instead of a plastic baby...

Well, that was fairly uneventful. :-) I can't imagine Judge Strickland granting the def motion concerning Tx. EquuSearch in it's present form. Casey still doesn't get it yet, I don't think. But she will as time goes on and she has to attend all hearings. I think also the state has much more in store for us from the statement about "a lot of things could change in that time". I'm guessing Lee is up next for some serious charges. JMHO

I wonder how long it will be before her 'writings' show up on line..they got a good close up of the writing pad. Baez will be pizzed, no doubt he advised her to keep her doodles covered with her hand, which she did initially, but apparently forgot as the hearing went on.

What dog does Conway have in this case legally? Why is he being heard at all?

Since baez brought up the supposed conflict of interest of Nejame representing TES when he formerly represented the anthonys, I think the Judge was kind enough to allow conway to approach and waive the conflict per cynthia and george. Then, he very boldly went on to add some extra statements including the remark that mommy and daddy wanted to be there, supporting casey anthony.

naw after watching her play flirty with biaz, I'd say the only thing she was nervous about was if the camera wasn't catching her good side.

IMO she looked pretty horrible compared to what she looked like 'on the outside'. Her skin is showing some wear, she has bags under her eyes and isn't allowed to wear make up. The suit, yes, looked very 'cheap' and was ill-fitting.

I am thinking the reason she didn't want to have to go to court is because she knows everyone will be watching her... all of her old friends... Tony... Jesse... and they will all see how bad she looks. The only male attention she gets any more is from Baez, and I am not at all surprised that she was 'flirting' with him. I don't think she knows how to interract with men other than to flirt with them. Even the way she talks to Lee and her dad... NOT to say that she was flirting because that's not what I mean, but there is a very distinguishable difference in her personna when talking to one of them vs talking to Cindy.

This was part of the "neener neener" with Mr. Nejame, imo. baez is the most petty and immature attorney I have ever witnessed in the courtroom.

In retaliation, Mr. Nejame let it be known that baez was attempting to go behind his back to get to Tim Miller.

NOT to say that she was flirting because that's not what I mean, but there is a very distinguishable difference in her personna when talking to one of them vs talking to Cindy.

in some people, the flirt gene is just there, no getting away from it. she could be sitting next to Quasimodo and do the same. IMO, he should have stopped it in it's tracks, not played along. 10 years from now when her letters to Jose are still coming back unopened, she'll wonder.

I wish I could answer your question, marsh.

I can only say I think it is moot because I don't believe Judge Strickland will rule in Baez' favor on this one. No disrespect intended whatsoever. :)

Landshark and Regina, thanks for answering it for me. I didn't think the issue would "float" but I wonder if Beaz really thought it through before he brought it up. I wonder that about a lot of things he brings up.

As far as the Anthony's not being there bawawawawawa ERM WHO ASKED THEM TO? If your not subpeoned what the heck!

I'm curious if said poster had seen Judge Strickland's order denying Baez' appeal to the former order.

It wasn't me but that is a valid point. Appellate cases are about judicial error. The error must be substantive. However, having Casey in court is not an error, although often it is waived. It's good that the judge is using an abundance of caution in this case.

It was not a valid point at all, considering the Judge's order itself. And the reasoning behind it.

You're missing the point. It doesn't matter whether you believe it's a valid point. It's the prerogative of the defense to determine what issues they raise on defense. ANY judicial ruling can be raised by the defense. Appeals are based on judicial rulings. Thank goodness, most appellate issues raised by the defense are ridiculous.

The prosecution IMO needs to keep reminding the jury how young Caylee was when her young mother took her life and partied away before she even told anyone about her own daughter being "missing".

the prosecution seems so competent and the defense so immature and petty. I do think they're doing Casey more harm than good. The defense seems to only have complaints and tattletales to go with and when they are offered something they do not take it and further down the line show up in court to complain that they do not have it.

That's because the prosecution has a mountain of evidence against Casey. The defense has nothing so all they can do is try to take the focus off Casey and the horrible crime that she committed.

Yep, she will be locked up. I wonder if it scared her when she heard that the trial wouldn't be until later this year at the earliest? That's an awful lot of time to sit in jail. Of course, after she is convicted she has the rest of her life to sit in prison at the big house.

State prison is worse than a county jail. Don't they have to work? I don't think she's going to be sitting in a cell all day. What if she was out in AZ with Sheriff Joe -- she'd for sure be using a shovel out there or working on the roadside.

I just found this in my local paper.

'UPDATE: Company changes Caylee doll -- a little'

'Showbiz Promotions has repackaged the dolls with new names -- Hope Sunshine, Gracie Sunshine and Sally Sunshine. It's the same doll as the one that was introduced earlier this week but Caylee's name has been removed from the shirt.'

I know all about a defense atty's job, everyone deserves a fair trial, etc., but what I can never get beyond is how so many defense attys make a game out of it. It's not about truth and justice; it's about how can we twist the truth, how can we get our testiphoney experts to cast doubt on the forensic evidence.

Yep and they get paid big bucks for doing it!

I think inmates work but it's based on their classification. Not all of them have the "honors" of working. And they make very small wages - like $1.10 a day or something like that.

As repulsive as I find this whole family, I can't help but feel a bit of compassion for Cindy Anthony this morning. She probably watched this, alone, in her living room. Her whole world has been shattered beyond repair:

Her beloved granddaughter brutally murdered
Her daughter facing possible death, certainly life in prison for her murder
Her husband in a psych ward after trying to end his life
Her son facing possible felony charges

I wonder if she realizes that Casey has single-handedly destroyed, one by one, her entire family.

Question in reference to TES.
Orange County was able to give $5,000.00 in donations to Tim Miller's group if they would stay and continue the search after Cindy told him to leave.
I don't know how to word this... Even if Tim Miller was paid the searchers were all volunteers. Why would the judge rule in favor of Baez and release the information he is seeking from TES in reference to volunteers and their personal information.
Tim Miller and his group have to work close to LE in any town they come to assist this is not a special instance.
Nadia Kersh case here local, Tim Miller and his group organized a search and worked close with local LE trying to locate her.
Just wondering what the judge would take in consideration concerning volunteers information being out there for Baez & Co.

That being said, I know that the reason cindy may have been sitting there all by herself with no other support besides george, lee and their attornies is a direct result of her actions and words since the truth about Caylee being missing came out.

Had cindy not called us all maggots and told us to get off our lazy azzes and look for Caylee while she and george stayed holed up in their house, only sending their PI out covertly to search for a body, I bet that cindy would have had a host of people there with her for today's hearing, and any other time she needed some emotional support.

I recently watched an episode of Locked Up, and an inmate who was in a trustee status and had a job of landscaping said he earned 75 cents per day, and I believe this was a large prison in CA.

casey may get more interested in working (if she is given the opportunity at some point) when the donations slow down or stop all together.

I'm curious if said poster had seen Judge Strickland's order denying Baez' appeal to the former order.

I think he was being sarcastic meaning the only way he gets discovery news is through the media. He usually has to make a smart mouthed comment in court.

Oh yes, it was a sarcastic poor poor me, this ain't fair snide comment.

I doubt Judge Strickland appreciates such disrespect and whining in his courtroom.

I feel compassion too....despite what theyve been doing

I do wonder.....I noticed....Lees attorney didn't come to court today.....Guess he doesnt like to hear himself speak as much as conway and baez.....and what Conway had to say really had NO LEGAL bearing on anything....it was a "request" at best.....making some kind of a statement...at worst.

Conway actually took away one of JB's complaint againt TES. JB was claiming that Nejames had a conflict of interest representing TES because he previously worked for the A's. He let the court know that the A's had no problem with it. Nejames went to the back and assisted BC up to the front. Think that was all arranged before court convened. JMO

Hi 8

They chose not to be there because Tim was looking for a dead Caylee and they would have no part in that. Cindy was furious with Tim IMO

yeah, I remember that, but now they want to interview the people who were looking for a dead Caylee. Just seems a little two faced on their part. According to one reporter when talking about the donation money, the Anthonys provided bottled water for the searchers for Caylee. Me thinks they just did not want to go cuz they knew she was passed. It seems weird to protest the action yet provide items for the action. Rambling here I know, but it rests heavy on my mind for some reason.

I can feel SOME compassion for cindy and for george. I have daughters who are around casey's age and cannot for the life of me imagine going through what they have.

Someone posted earlier that Cindy was getting George out of Halifax today. Poor George stuck with Cindy. Maybe he will check right into a new facility without haste and won't have to be home long with Cindy if any.

Just a thought, don't kill me....but, it now makes me wonder why the family or a representative wasn't with TES while they were searching. The brave men and women who took time to search for this baby should not be dragged into public domain for Baez to interupt their lives further. They did what they needed to do at the time. The records should be a part of the Anthony's heart, but they chose not to be there.

I know it wouldn't be acceptable to Baez, but just hypothetically, what if Tim signed a sworn affidavit that TES did not go into that area due to flooding. Would that suffice, instead of Baez trying to get all that personal info & records he's requesting.

My mouth dropped when Baez came out with THAT one. I bet the reporter's did too. I'm sure she didn't like being called out like that. Maybe she was working "undercover" or something. I'm sure helping Baez isn't the popular thing to do in that town about now.

And I can't imagine that makes her very popular at the lunch table either.. JMO:smile:

Good, I am glad that wasn't just me.

That was really odd.

What in the heck is she writing?

Mrs. Stan Strickland, Mrs Casey Strickland, Casey Anthony Strickland, Judge Stan and Casey Anthony Strickland.. perhaps

Umm I dont know about anyone else ....But I was wondering if her top (blazer ) whatever you want to call it was new or if they got it from the A's? It looked a little small to me....trying to play dress up in a top and jail house blues pants just didnt work for me....maybe cindy should have sent the grey slacks that she washed the smell out of to her.......mooThat jacket was not flattering in the least! Looked like she just threw it on over her bra.Hope it was itchy to go along with her itchy palms. mo

I agree. As much as some don't want to for a second give Cindy a nod, you do have to admit that she's really the glue that kept the whole family together for so long. She was the only one who was "doing it right". Working, supporting her husband, her grown daughter and her grandchild, paying the bills and providing a home. I hope she has a good support system around her...
