I wonder if she was anybody else, she would already be gone.
I hope she doesn't recieve special treatment but I wonder why her case is being re-opened long after being told to leave.

Your link didn't work.. but I goggled it and found info on Forbes. I was thinking about this around inauguration time... was wondering what happened to her. Well this should make other illegals very happy to see that she's been given a freebie holding pattern..

Wonder if Boston Housing Authority will be reimbursed... I still can't understand how someone in the country illegally can qualify for housing.. beyond me..

An immigration judge stayed her deportation order on Dec. 17. The judge reopened her case requesting asylum on Dec. 30, and she has a hearing on April 1 in a Boston immigration court, Elaine Komis, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Executive Office of Immigration Review, said Monday.
Onyango traveled to Washington last week for her nephew's inauguration. News organizations observed her attending an inaugural ball with her immigration lawyer, Margaret Wong.

Does this mean there really are aliens landing in Nevada !!!!
Thank you so much for this link! I do not post links because mostly I just mess them up.
Some response I received - Right? Being rude is never necessary. This is a message board with opinions................

She moved because she was being hounded where she was. That's what I read anyway.
This is interesting. The state can't even ask about a person's immigration status.

"Onyango transferred to an apartment funded only by the state, which cannot ask about immigration status under the court order."
Funded by the state.. we have people losing their homes and apartments but yet we can house people that are in our country illegally... what's wrong with this picture.. what have they contributed to the state by paying taxes which is what funds some of these benefits to legal citizens... JUST ASKING...

Hounded?
She was hiding..............she was suppose to leave and did not.
It is strange to me that some of us are expected to obey the laws here in the USA, while others are given a pass or almost anything!
Guess you have to be a politician or a illegal to be given a pass.. who knew.. :tonguewag:

Yes, the press was all over her, not to mention immigration. LOL
I don't think she should be given a pass. Doesn't sound like Obama thinks she should be given one, either. Back in November, right before the election when McCain was hoping this would hurt him, Obama said he didn't know his father's half sister was here and that she had to obey the law like everyone else.
I think if she was given a pass she wouldn't be having to attend any more hearings.
I think she will be given a pass because she is BO's aunt. Time will tell.
She received housing...........................does she work ????
How old is she?
Will she be on welfare?
SSI?

great questions......If she gets a pass and millions others don't i'm going to be all swole up.
To get the answers-------------should I goggle? :laugh::laugh:
We will watch --- maybe we will be told what happened to her.
"I doubt this is on the radar of most people."
You can say that again!!! Just an isolated few who are looking for anything to bash and criticize Pres. Obama with. It's another one of those NON-ISSUES; as most of those types of posts are. IMO :thumbdown:
Guess you think that illegal immigration is a non-issue.That's what this is about. Not bashing Obama.

there are perks to being related to the president of the united States, would you really expect us to deport her?

You've hit the nail right on the head.
If he has any other relatives here, and she gets to stay, watch them come out of the woodwork.

Since all other illegals are deported yes.
Oh PLEEZ! I don't see any other cases mentioned here! Just PRESIDENT OBAMA'S distant relative.:thumbdown::thumbdown:
BTW, given the state of our country, this is a non-issue, imo.
An aunt is not a DISTANT relative.

exceptions are made all the time, get real, were talking about a relative of the president of the united states, were not gonna throw out the presidents relative - she will be given citizenship

And she should be packed up and shipped back to Africa until she can enter this country legally. I don't care WHO she is, she is here illegally, and should be deported.
that doesn't apply to all illegals, exceptions are made all the time, so this will be an exception - see no issues with that under these circumstances

You are very right Lisa.
A lot of people should educate themselves before they start spewing hate, because it only makes them look foolish. There is tons of information right here http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/ and exceptions are made all the time!
I think that about says it all. You'd think with the shrinking economy, 2 wars and global warming people would have more important things on their minds than Prez Obama's estranged Aunt. It's actually laughable.
So we forget about ALL illegal immigrants(send no one back)and concentrate on the other problems. Sounds alot better then giving 1 illegal special treatment.
Exceptions are made for extraordinary circumstances. Being the president's aunt who has been ordered to leave, then moved in order to escape deportation, isn't extraordinary. It's abuse of the system. Maybe if she is sent back to her village and her mud hut, she will appreciate all that she has been illegally enjoying enough to get it legally.
Besides, Obama has already said he wanted the law followed in her case, remember?
He said that when he was candidate Obama.Let's see if he still believes that now.

Apples and Pears.. I don't see any difference in President Obama's estranged Aunt receiving any preferential treatment ( IF that be the case) than GWB becoming president because of illegal practices.
Is there a difference? If so, please explain.
One person wants a safe place to live, the other has corruption on the brain.
So since one side broke the law as you say, then it gives a pass for the other side to break the law?
Interesting logic.

Link works fine. And you are exactly right. We have a family here in the same situation - too long a story to explain, but with much community support they are still here and there will be a hearing in the spring. (they are not, thank goodnes, on welfare). And - what is it that President Obama is supposed to have done wrong now? Looks like he or his staff have not been involved in this case at all at this point.
And when the time comes - if her story warrants it can't he support her - just as we have good reason to support this community's immigrant family? Each needs to be judged on a case by case basis.

She should stay here. Everyone who wants a better life and is not a crimnal should be permitted to be a resident.
