This is an awful story. I guess we take a chance every time we leave our children anywhere.

I hope this facility had mandatory drug testing.

The article states that another adult was in the room, as well as a number of children.

As horrible as this story is, that is just plain bizarre. Who would throw a child down on his head with so many witnesses?

What a sad story.

Me too. It's so sad. Poor little boy was trying to comfort himself with his blanket, pacifier and bouncy chair. I can't imagine being his mother, knowing that. :sad:

She had "issues" with the children in the room? I guess poor Benjamin just happened to be the unlucky one closest to her.

She told a friend she "loves children." Well, anyone can say anything. Doesn't necessarily make it true.

I agree. I feel so bad for the mom, knowing her poor little baby was trying to comfort himself and she wasn't there to provide that. It brought me to tears, too. I just can't imagine living with that knowledge. God bless her. This is just too sad for words, really.

I'm not familar with this case. How could this have happened with ANOTHER aid in the room? How many children were in that room at the same time for this to happen and have no one notice?! How long was the poor boy left to die in his favorite chair before the aid that killed him noticed he had finally died? (You can't tell me she didn't know the child wouldn't be severly hurt if she threw him down on his head. I think that's why she's been charged with first degree murder.)

One of the articles said that her sister got her the job at that daycare. Where had she been working before? It wouldn't surprise me to find out that she has hurt other children there as well...you know, pinches, slaps, bruised on arms from being grabbed, the sort of thing that might not get noticed right away. I wonder if that will come out at trial.

The fact that this happened with another aid in the room, makes me think that A. there are too many children and too few adults in one classroom B. the staff is unqualified and not very observant C. Where was the "teacher" when this happened? D. What sort of qualifications did one need to work at this school? Was anyone there, professionally trained?

I do hope this woman gets jail time. I wonder if the school will get sued or closed down? I wouldn't send a child there.
