so very sad...i just can't imagine the pain that little girl went through. :crying:
I am at a loss for words right now...... The only comfort I take, is knowing she is in a far better place, being treasured and loved for the special gift she is.
Um where was her mother???? She slept through this???? My kid makes a peep and I am up mmediately from a deep sleep...

I wondered about mom, too. And the niece and nephew--were they in the same room as the baby or in a room way across the house? I read where it said maybe the baby was choking from the first, and not able to cry out? (Ummm---?????) But you gonna sit there and tell me that this "enrage" man did not YELL @ that little girl for disrupting his sleep? That he quietly got up and threw her against the wall, kicked her in the stomach and knocked her to the ground several times? That he didn't yell (I'm sure swearing all the time) about her keeping him awake? THAT I don't believe. So, I could see the little niece and nephew, if they were in a position to hear this to cower in fear, wondering if they were going to be next. BUT, the mother? She was so sound asleep that she didn't hear? Or, was she also cowering in fear?

I agree, this would not have been a silent attach by any means!!!! That poor little angel. And then you know damn well she was trying to get to her mom...... I know what you're saying tho.... my daughters cough at night in their bedroom at the OTHER end of the house and it wakes me up, and they are much older. I'm not sure about the mom right now... but this poor little girl... and for this POS to leave her little body for the mother to find.... :cursing:

OMG..she was such a beautiful little girl. What I've read on these boards the past two weeks is just horrible - so many selfish and senseless acts. Children murdered, sent to walk to their death in awful weather conditions, abuse, abandonment..just is so sickening.
The pain she must have suffered for hours - couldn't crawl to her mother for help. How the mother could sleep through that? Maybe she took sleeping pills? And this brute leaves here there to die...then just goes off the next morning like nothing happened? Just - I want to say unbelievable - the horror of it is incomprehensible, but I'm hardly surprised anymore of what so-called adults are capable of. It makes one wonder about bringing a "man" into one's life as a single mother. I think sometimes you just don't Know a person...but maybe this mother did know he could be a threat?

some people can sleep through anything... not their fault, just the way it is, so I would not blame the mother - jmho

I think I read they had just returned from a bon fire. Maybe the mom was drinking? Not that that has any barrings on this case. No one is to blame besides the POS who did it:cursing:

you could be right, I just read it as he just got back from a bon fire, not sure if she was there or not, but your right, the blame only belongs to the person that committed the crime, not the one who slept through it imo

the blame only belongs to the person that committed the crime, not the one who slept through it imo I guess I dont see it that way. I think a parent has an obligation to protect their children and I cant believe that this woman did not know this man was violent. We are letting too many off without making them accept responsibility for their own actions or inaction or bad choices. I know that is a slippery slope but............I am tired of the weakest being preyed upon and then the parent goes out and procreates again and again....

What is with these men?? And women picking up these men???? We have a sad case here in DFW, 6yo boy beat to death so I'm on a crying jag and torturing myself by reading other cases right now.
All I can say is what I pray daily....God help and protect all neglected and abused children and animals. The truly innocent.

What the hell is wrong with people?
BTW, is the correct spelling of her name Haley or Haleigh or Hayley? I am seeing it all ways. In the link of the top article it says Haley, but in the article itself it says Haleigh, while other articles also use the variation Hayley.

I am not a big supporter of the Death Penalty....it's too big a decision for me personally.
But..if the accused did those things to that sweet baby , then that is what needs to be done to him. Period.
Does anyone know how the mother did not know anything about this ?
And, two other kids--altho I can see little kids being scared spitless, if they heard or saw anything. But, unless the mom was in a room some rooms away from where the beating occured, how could she not have heard it? Even if the first action incapacitated her so much she could not cry out or scream, there had to be some noise of the actual beating, throwing her against the wall (his words.) I just looked @ the first articles, and she was in the room NEXT DOOR.
I wonder how he handled the noise of little kids other times, and if he didn't tolerate it well (and a two year old in the throes of the terrible twos?) how did he react then?
