Does her presence mean anything at this hearing?

IMO you may answer your own question.

Lot's of people are guilty of things they aren't actually convicted of. Actual guilt and legal guilt are two different things .. imo.

On with the sentencing .......

I have been fighting the urge to be HAPPY that he will finally pay for the murders. Have to tell myself that he deserves prison for this armed robbery. Then I said  Heck with it! I am glad he goes to prison and I feel justice is finally being served for both crimes!

Unfortunately, this will be the basis of the defense's appeal .. that there were juror's that still wanted to see him pay for the murders.

I'm glad he's going to serve time. He's a thug.

I am looking forward to seeing this remorseless, acquitted killer sentenced to a long time behind bars.

JVM last night had two defense attys on to :crying:
waaah waaaah waaaaa! Over how "unfair" this all is. How if he hadn't gotten away with murder (and road rage and stealing direct tv) he wouldn't even have been charged with kidnapping and robbery and blah blah blah. GMAB!

Where is my teeny tiny violin??????

They would have the gall to do that...The armed robbery case stands on its own. If one doesnt deserve life for armed robbery then change the law. There is proof beyond reasonable doubt he committed an armed robbery. I am personally glad he will finally get some jailtime that he deserved for the murders.

I feel a tiny bit of sympathy for CJ Stewart who is little more than a gullible pawn in Simpson's game. Had he been smart, he should have copped a plea and thrown himself on the mercy of the court.

From all I've read, Glass is hard-nosed. She was the judge in the Craig Titus case, and she tacked on 4 more prison years to what was agreed upon in his plea bargain.

I saw that snoopin round the other day. Gosh all I can figure is that LV doesnt have the death penalty(?) because if anyone deserves it, those two do. What a horrible crime that was. Uggg...

Well duh! It WILL be only because it is OJ. The part Jami can't bring herself to admit is that OJ is a thug who has broken the law, just like untold numbers of other John Q. Publics. In spite of what Jami thinks and says, OJ has been judged not by the color of his skin, but by his content of his character. Now its time for him to trot off to prison, where thugs belong.

Judge Mathis had a case where a woman had rushed past a homeowner into her home and grabbed up her dog that the homeowner was refusing to return to her. Mathis said that she had a perfect right to do that. She could see her property and had a right to go right in and get it. Then he said "of course if you do it with a a gun and hold everyone hostage like OJ you get convicted of armed robbery". I'm surprised. I didn't think that going into someones home without calling the police is illegal - even without the guns. But she won the case.

Bear in mind that judge Mathis on TV handles civil cases, not criminal ones! Perhaps his understand of the law explains why!

I think (JMO) Justin is really hurt and, after losing one parent, doesn't want/need to watch this. I feel Sydney knows he killed her mom, and is done with him. I'm sorry.

Apology to the state of Nevada.
I came here for a wedding.
I didn't plan it.
I called my kids and the Brown family and had a chance to get some of our family property back.
We called the police to ask what to do.
I knew these guys.
Had no hatred for Mike Gilbert.
Yes I yelled at Bruce and Beardsley---I've forgiven them.
I did request Mr. Stewart to help me to remove my things.
If they wouldn't allow us to remove them, I would have called the police.
I believe it was my fault they were there.

Judge: There were a lot of you big guys in that little bitty room. It was a very violent event, not just "give me back those things."

Judge: It is rare for a judge to have everything before them (video, OJ's own words and testimoney) If gun had gone off and bullets had gone flying, not only would many be hurt in the room, even others in the hotel would have been hurt. This is why Rules in Nevada say you cannot take back your own property or anyone else's property back by force. When you take a gun with you and men with you to show in a show of force - that's not just a "hey give me my stuff back" - that is something else and that is something else and why we a re all here....

Oh crap - I thought she was addressing OJ! She gave Stewart 15 years on the kidnapping charge? I didn't think she'd do that.

Wow, what a judge!

16 years, the gun enhancement carries a mandatory 1 year extra.

So what is the total? All the min to max 30-60 months was confusing.

Heck I can't do math! Man she really handed it to Stewart; does anyone know the MINIMUM amt. of time he'll spend behind bars? Does he have a crim. record? TIA.

Jack Ford just said they figured it's 15 yrs with a minimum of 6 yrs before they are eligible for parole.

Other good news is the sentencing went so long that Jamie Floyd didn't get a chance for her "last word". lolol

Both of them will serve 6 years. They could come up for parole in 5 but the gun enhancement adds a mandatory year to that.
