View Full Version : Alan Combs to Leave "Hannity & Combs"

Alan Combs has decided to call it quits with Sawn Hannity, but not with Fox News. He will continue his radio show and start a pilot show for the weekend, possibly entitled "The Alan Combs Show."

I don't blame him. He is a decent individual and it had to be difficult putting up with Hannity for 12 years. How he did it is beyond me. Hannity is rude, overbearing and often a bore regardless of what his message may be. He may even be right on his opinion, but he would make any Republican a Democrat or independant if one watches him night after night.

Alan Combs, by comparison is intelligent, a gentleman and and shows his guests civility in most circumstances. But over the years, just in survival mode, he has had to accept and sometimes use some of Hannity's tactics for which I am sure he hasn't been comfortable. For that reason, I think he thought it was time to call it quits. He didn't like was he was about to become.

I give him a great deal of respect. I don't agree with many of his views, but I feel he has the integrity that was about to be lost on the Hannity and Combs Show. I wish him well on his endeavors and hope he continues with Fox. He needs to be the voice of the Left.

Now we need to have a voice of an Independent. :)

I don't blame this guy for leaving. Did anyone see Hannity last night interviewing Mark Sanford, South Carolina Republican Governor? It was CRAZY. I wonder if I dreamed this, but they talking about it being a good idea for Republicans in the US legislature to vote against all of the new legislation the Democrats will be trying to pass with the new administration. They said this would be a good start to get the Repulican party back on track! It boggles the mind. I don't think they were joking.

Truthfully, I don't know how he could ever stand working with Hannity. Hannity's a bully...glad Alan finally smartened up. Can't imagine who they will get to co-host with him....maybe Coulter.. barf

I don't know how Alan put up with Hannity as long as he did.

Hannity is a big pompous, overbearing, holier-than-thou, windbag and bully.

A good co-host for him would be his ECHO.

Maybe, Coulter. Maybe, Rush Limbaugh.

Or, even, Sarah Palin.

i think they chose allen with his personality in mind...lets face it..it was hannity's show with allen to interject for 5 seconds. hannity did all the lead-ins..setting the agenda and tone. i ALWAYS enjoyed it when Bob Beckel was in for allen. that is who i would choose. he would just laugh at Hannity and then make a point. i have the greatest respect for allen, but he was not right for this point/counterpoint show.

This is what FAUX considers to be a "point/counterpoint" show?

GMAB!

This was nothing more than a BULLY PULPIT. Just a crock of you-know-what.

It was nauseating to me.

I quit watching it a long time ago.

this election I think put Hannity over the edge

it doesn't surprise me they would try to ambush the American people by trying to make sure nothing could get done during the next two years and then try to blame it all on Obama - the religious right are on a mission and it is not the best interests of the American people - jmho

listen to Hannity here

I agree, but I hope the Republicans don't have enough votes to do that.

Oh, my. How the horse had turned or whatever that saying is. Time after time Democrats have out and out rejected good legislation--just because it was intiated by Republicans, or to oppose a Republican President--just because they could. ;)

Folks seem to wonder how Alan could tolerate being on the show for 12 years. Well, this being a free country and all, if it bothered him much, he could have left the show @ any time. Methinks HE got something out of being there, else he would have left long before this.

Alan and Sean are great friends and enjoyed their sparring over the years. They are both pleased to say they leave this long marriage on great and respectful terms.
Personally, I hope they fill Alan's spot with someone who has a more intelligible grasp of important issues from the left side....I've seen guests from both sides left speechless by some of the obtuse arguments Colmes put forth.
I wish them both well.

ITA, Colmes, has left many shaking their heads wondering WTH kind of question he is asking.

Wish him well in his new adventures, but sure not going to miss him on the show.

This would be a great time for Sarah Palin her Television debut.

They can call it HANNITY AND HIS ECHO.

However SP doesn't like second billing, so maybe the show could be THE ECHO HOUR.

You sure don't miss a chance to bash SP on any thread on any of these boards. What a shame to waste so much precious time of ones life hating someone so much. IMHO

i would love to see bob beckel..or someone with the lungs and knowhow to stand toe to toe with him. too bad that rachel maddow is on msnbc....THAT would be interesting..am not sure how hannity would deal with a personable ,blunt woman who is highly educated.

IMO he couldn't. He is so bad about cutting those off who does not agree with him, same as BOR is.

Megan Kelly comes to mind as a very outspoken person, see her get up in BOR face and tell him how wrong he was/is.

Unless I see a commercial of who the guest will be on either show, I do not make a habit of watching them.

IMO, they plopped Colmes down next to Hannity so FOX could perpetuate their "fair and balanced" claim. Colmes going up against Hannity, in representation of the left, was like sending a yorkshire terrier to do battle with a pit bull. It was just a joke, IMO and I always wondered how Colmes could stand to be used and humiliated in that way. Oh yeah, $$$.

Sorry, this is harsh against Colmes, but he was no match for Hannity and the premise of the show was a joke.

ITA.

In My Opinion, the only news commentator on FAUX that comes anywhere close to "FAIR AND BALANCED" is Shepard Smith.

I think Hannity solo show is better than what he had with Colmes.
Hannity's style lends itself better to being the only host....he did tend to get pushy and loud, and now he doesn't have to. It gives us, the viewers, more information than sparring.

RE: "Hannity's style lends itself better to being the only host....he did tend to get pushy and loud..."
---------------------------

You are certainly right about this.

The reason he is "pushy and loud," In My Opinion. is because he is a holier-than-thou, self-righteous, sanctimonious prig.

As I said, this is just my opinion on this subject.

IMO it gives less info and context from the several times i have watched it. it is simpy a crusade. if you are pushy and loud and tend to do better when noone can disagree with you....it doesnt say much about your character.
