The threads aren't locked, so if you like the other thread that's fine.
I believe this was probably set up to separate the "deliberation" from "the verdict" so we could discuss it in depth.

This did nothing for Nicole and Ron - it's a different crime - not even karma, since it was OJ's own actions that locked him up. Congratulations to a jury that gave the honest answer, didn't let fears nor celebrity, nor all the spin money can buy bias them. 3 times the evidence needed to prove the case was present, and I'm glad they didn't overlook it.
Now the UNTOUCHABLE has been touched.

There is that possiblity. :)
O.J. will most likely die in prison even if he gets the least amount of time possible.
Let's see. He's 61 right now. On the kidnapping charge, it's 15- life with possibility of parole after 5 years, so he's up to 66 years old on just that one count, if he is granted parole the first time.
On local TV here in Las Vegas, the local reporter just interviewed Tom Riccio. He said he thought "they" were just out to get OJ, it was payback for the previous case in LA, and the jury just tried to get a verdict on the 13th anniversary of his not guilty verdict. What a marooooon! It was his audio tapes that done 'em in!

This verdict is crap. CJ, especially should have been aquitted, and OJ was definately not guilty. This jury found the way they did because of the murders. Period! They DID NOT find for the evidence in this case.
I feel just sick. What an abboration of justice. IMHO, I can't say what my opionion is, it would involve a lot of cussing, and I'm really pis^ed.Hobby - it's all about the evidence. If it makes you feel better - take a look - this is 3 times what would be needed to convict in any normal case.
In a normal armed robbery case, you'd have the testimony of the victims, as we do, the recording of their 911 call. We have that. The tape of Beardsley calling 911 to say they've been robbed at gunpoint by OJ mere moments after it happened, Fromong and Beardsly describing the robbery, identifying their assailants, the stolen property found in the posession of the suspects, and video showing OJ and crew walking into the room empty handed, walking out of the room carrying the stolen items. That'd more than convict any normal person.
But - over and above that, we've got the testimony of the thugs, of the accessories, through a plea deal (as usual - this is not abnormal for police to use a plea to get people to testify). This again - more than enough alone to convict. While some of these people have records, others do not have anything serious on their record, others were pretty much hapless saps who just wandered into what they thought was a job carrying stuff for OJ, and turned out to be a robbery.
But then we go several miles further - the planning, the robbery itself, and bragging and joking about it afterwards was all recorded. Nice unbiased tapes. Recorded by multiple people, confirming the stories of the victims, the thugs, and everyone other than OJ. Many of these tapes have enough of the details to prove many charges alone.
So, either everyone is lying, including tape recorders - or OJ is guilty. Stewart there's a bit more wiggle room - a case could be made he thought he was just there to carry stuff too - with a bit of evidence maybe slightly ignored.
And for the defense - aside from a bunch of challenging the tapes - and the tapes are hard to challenge because it's plenty clear enough to hear what is going on, and there's enough cross talk that hints of modification (that the FBI expert said he looked for and did not find) are really not credible - the whole OJ defense has been that it's his stuff. The prosecution not only wiped that idea out, but also the law says even if you honestly believe something to be yours (and OJ took stuff that by no definition could he believe was his - cell phone, Montana lithographs, etc.) you still can't lure someone to a hotel room, hold them there with armed thugs, and take it back by threat of force.
It's a clear-cut case - for anyone other than OJ, there's many, many, many times the evidence normally needed to prove the case. Fortunately for justice, the jury did not let the celebrity, race, or noteriety of the defendant change their verdict.

From the link .....Las Vegas police officers were heard in the recording chucking over Simpson misfortune and crowing that if LA couldn't get him, they would.
Those statements alone are proof that the Las Vegas LE was out to "get" him for an unrelated crime in which he had been acquitted.
I would wager there are a number of appeal issues in this case including the prosecution removing the only two black jurors. One reason given was one woman was very religious and the prosecution believed she might be more forgiving.
The other men involved including the two carrying a gun made deals with LE to help them "get" OJ when LA couldn't is a travesty. If the crime was serious enough to put two defendants away for possibly life then the all men in that room should get the same sentence. This was a popular verdict to correct what many think was a bad verdict 13 years ago.
I see this case ending up in the Supreme Court before this is over.

As to your question about anyone walking into a courtroom with a camcorder, the answer is no.
Judge Fidler has approved the cameras. No interest from media to cover it. Reported cost---$30,000 a month. TruTV did the feed for KTLA during 1st trial.
I'm hoping KTLA sees the light and will pick up broadcasting on their own.

It is a sad day today that a man of such enormous talent put himself in this position. I watched the whole murder trial as you did opening to closing and still to this day I have mixed feelings about it as I do with this trial. Like you, I couldn't have voted guilty of the murder of Nichole and Ron because Chris Darden and Marcia Clark got out lawyered. I kinda thought in this current trial that it could go either way. Hobby - it's all about the evidence.
Unfortunately for justice, the jury did let the celebrity, race and notoriety of the defendant determine their verdict.
Any doubt of the thinking of the jury can be assessed by the many posters here on this forum that leaping with joy that OJ finally got his due for a crime that he was acquitted for 13 years ago.
What is happening to our jury system? Does anyone really believe the jury followed instructions and put aside any of their beliefs that OJ needed to pay for past crimes they believed he had committed? Many of the jurors admitted they didn't agree with the murder verdict but said they could put aside that belief and fairly judge the merits of this trial.
I don't think that happened.

I hope that it gets to the Supreme Court. This whole case has been absolutely ridiculous. I believe that are many many appellate issues for both CJ and OJ.
Everyone is saying justice for Nicole and Ron.... It's that kind of mentality that leads jurors to verdicts like this. A trial isn't for vindication.
Go for it.

I don't feel bad one bit if the jury was getting back at OJ for what he did and we all know he killed Ron & Nicole 13 yrs ago. This case might have been robbery but I knew someday OJ would mess up again and I was right and finally justice has be served! Call it what you want OJ is getting his finally:patriot:
this above statement is just so wrong really .. this is why I'm appalled whenever a defendant's 'past' is allowed in court .. that should NEVER happen .. only the evidence pertaining to that specific trial should EVER be allowed

13½ hours of deliberation.
and one charge shy of 13.
Justice has FINALLY been served. Nicole and Ron's voices were heard in the end. Karma just kicked his ***. I don't CARE that this trial was about robbery and kidnapping, I just wanted to see justice no matter how it had to happen, and I, for one, am thrilled. I hope he rots in jail for everything he has done in his lifetime and I hope he lives to be 113 years old. I have said MANY times, that the jury would have a lot of trouble with guys admitting to a robbery, even for a reduced sentence, if it didn't occur.
WHY would they do that, IF there was NO CRIME?

Swabby, I have said it before and I will say it again. Marcia Clark and Chris Darden were out lawyered by Johnny Cochran and Company. The jury had no choice. Why prolong deliberation when the jury all agreed almost imediately. Wether he did it or not the prosecution did not prove their case. Maybe justice wasn't served but the burden of proof is on the prosecuton. They lost plain and simple.

I just keep thinking he will get out of this somehow..AGAIN! And I for one NEVER believed that bull that Mark Furhman "set him up" in the double murder investigation because of his race or any other reason. Come on! Is everybody setting OJ Simpson up? The man is weird! Did you all watch his face in all these trials? I still have loads of VHS tapes from the murder trial way back in 1995. I recorded them because I was at work and wanted to see everything! I wanted him to be not guilty but after watching and reading all I could I now believe he must be guilty! . I re-watched some last week because I am putting them on disc and its sure something to see again after all this!! He sat in this trial muttering to himself and making odd looks towards the camera and jury box. Watch any of his interviews in the past years? He is mental and one odd man! And yes I am WHITE but so what? I have Always believed he is a murderer! How can you not??? JMO as everyone says!

Agreed, and I am also seeing a real diversity of the judges in these high profile cases. They are giving these celebs too many breaks before they slam the door on them. I think tho that the judge in this case did a yoemans job of keeping order and moving the trial along. She certainly wasn't Star Struck with OJ.

I would wager there are a number of appeal issues in this case including the prosecution removing the only two black jurors. One reason given was one woman was very religious and the prosecution believed she might be more forgiving.
I see this case ending up in the Supreme Court before this is over.
This would, MUST, include Federal constitutional violations, as the SC will NOT disturb a state criminal conviction based soley on state law.
What would some be?
You point out juror exclusion based on race, so in effect, this is a Batson challenge!!
If you were OJ's appellate attorney's, what other violations, in your view, are potential assignments of error?
Since the crimes are not capital, it is not automatically reviewable by the Nevada SC if a court of appeals decision affirms or reverses.
State appeal remedies must be exhausted first to proceed to Federal court, even under a 2254 Motion, which also MUST be based on federal constitutional issues.
Or if OJ looses in the state appeals court, and the NV SC refuses to hear the case, it can be directly appealed to the USSC from there, yes, and bypass a Federal Habeas Corpus petition.
In the interim, he remains "in custody" as bail was denied. Appeals take years.
