Uh, Dunnie?

"Leading" is not allowed when examining your own witness on the stand. It matters not a whit that investigators use that technique when questioning a suspect. Not one. Standard is completely different.

FWIW, I don't think the investigators sounded like THEY were the ones on crack. Who could possibly sound that nonchalant and chatty when their child is missing except for a complete sociopath or someone under the influence?

Wow! She is frightening - just lie after lie, no problem.
I know that she does it, but actually hearing her is chilling!I'm glad the tapes are out...It is hard to defend her ( I imagine) when you actually HEAR how cold she is. It is getting harder to defend George and CVindy too...how can we believe they found her lies so convincing when we hear for ourselves how poorly she lies. They total lack o feeling heard in her voice andher general demeanor. Of course, as mentioned up thread Cindy found the transcripts of the same interviews to be "a good read".
I'm interested in hearing the family reaction to these having now heard them as well...probably total denial again.

And, if you are listening to these tapes and do not hear that the LE involves are skilled SVU investigators dealing with a major league liar (as opposed to sounding "like they are on crack," to quote you), I find it very surprising.

I think the clue that she is lying for me is that her voice IS so calm...it shouldn't be. It should sound overly emotional and like she is a wreck. She should even sound angry or outraged at points (if innocent....hah!) I think that calmness is how one can know she is a pathological liar....her responses sound programmed or automated and she doesn't show emotion.

She obviously knew Zanny's number. LE can trace that number, obtain the records and find out if calls were actually made, or better yet if the number actually existed.

I think there is no "proof" that Casey did anything to Caylee. Casey continues to assert she dropped Caylee off with the non-existent babysitter. There are too many unanswered questions, and this will never go to trial.

I still think the interviewers did a lousy job and if I was looking for the "truth" I wouldn't brow beat a potential suspect. I will log off now because my presence seems to upset some posters. If you don't agree with the majority here, you become an outsider who gets "picked on".

So much for debating, discussing in a civil way.

Notice how he says burying, these guys are so smart. I wish we had video of her face.I still haven't listened to the tapes, but just reading the transcripts I had such respect for the officers who questioned her. I would have had the overwhelming urge to either roll my eyes and say 'Come ON!Get real missy.'...or say 'Stop Lying! ' and yell at her...or throttle her . I can't believe they don't just laugh out loud at some of her tall tales and put on grandiose airs.

Wow! I just listened to the taped interviews with Casey and I must commend the investigators conducting these interviews. I do not see how they did not lose self control. I couldn't do their jobs. imoITA...the most recent things that happened would be forefront in Casye's memory. Those are the things she would access for "facts" to back up her stories.
Now, a question for any lawyers or law students...what do you think the chances of getting even a portion of these tapes in front of the jury are? I know sometimes they make it into trials, and sometimes they are declared too predjudicial ( I'm not sure why? They are a persons own words and gee, we wouldn't want people to see how callous and sick she is firsthand would we?). I do believe Baez will do his utmost to keep them away from the jurors, I would because if they hear these w/o something significant and concrete to refute the claim that she harmed caylee they will convict. I haven't a doubt they would convict w/minimal evidence...jurors are humans with a heart and common sense so they will readily see casey for exactly what she is and want her behind bars where she belongs.

I can see that but here's another thought... I've known a few people in my life who were a little on the cold and callous side. My exH being one of them. Doesn't seem to care a whole lot about those around them. But bring something up about their parents or how their parents feel about them and things change. That's what I see with Casey. The only real "thing" that bothers her is Cindy. Cindy is the only one who can evoke true emotion in Casey. Not directly mind you, but mention to Casey that she can't live up to mommy's expecations or something along those lines and she tears up. Totally makes sense to me. Spending their whole lives trying to live up to mommy's or parents expectations and weird things happen personality-wise. IMO.

I think the clue that she is lying for me is that her voice IS so calm...it shouldn't be. It should sound overly emotional and like she is a wreck. She should even sound angry or outraged at points (if innocent....hah!) I think that calmness is how one can know she is a pathological liar....her responses sound programmed or automated and she doesn't show emotion.yes, I think that a pathological liar often feels a "neutral" voice tone is a better bet than choosing the wrong emotion or failiing to convince with the emotion they try to portray. This would apply especially to a sociopath, as REAL emotion would be a tricky thing for her anyway...she would need good acting skills and a "model" for that emotion to pull it off.

IMO if she had MPD, there would be someone coming forward to say they had encountered her saying her name was Zanny, etc. The other personality wouldn't exist in a total vaacum any more than a real person would...in essence "Zanny" would BE a real person, just sharing a body with Casey. Besides, we have heard nothing to suggest that Casey ever suffered a significant enough trauma to create a need for MPD. I think if anything really waful ever happened to Casey Cindy would tell all to make casey a victime unlesss cindy was protecting someone else. If that is the case I have no doubt Baez would bring it up in court.
Besides, she did have two psych. evals. before leaving custody did she not? I'm pretty sure something noticeable would have come up.

I used to think speaking in past tense really mattered but then I heard Ed Smart speak of his daughter in past tense after she was missing a few days. Someone asked Marc Klass about the significance of it and he said you really can't read too much into a parent speaking in past tense when their kid is missing. He said their mind jumps from best case scenario to worst case scenario and they can easily slip into past tense at that time but not because they are guilty. That said, I think Casey knows exactly what happened to Caylee...

It's very difficult to wade through a swamp of lies and expect to come up with the truth.

One has to almost assume that everything she stated is a lie. There may be bits of truth woven in, but how can anyone tell?

they were talking about her mom always yelling at her and putting her down and that she's right about everything and then casey said she's afraid she'll never see caylee again and the LE says awwww we know we can tell by the tears in your eyes. crying lasted about 38 seconds. maybe 39That explains the tears for me anyway...she was crying because she was thinking about how "mean" Cindy is to her...the detectives just called her attention to the fact and gave her an "out" to say she was upset about Caylee and just couldn't control her tears....I'm not surprised they dried right up with a quickness.

Something I found interesting is that in interview 2, LE is giving her a pretty hard time, then one of the guys switches to the "good cop" mode...i.e. "I don't think you are a monster, who in your life has given you a hard time or stressed you..." etc... That is when Casey gets emotional, it's like the change in tactic catches her off guard. But then she adapts and her demeanor goes exactly back to calm, cool, collected lying... I think she is definately lying throughout. IMO

I used to think speaking in past tense really mattered but then I heard Ed Smart speak of his daughter in past tense after she was missing a few days. Someone asked Marc Klass about the significance of it and he said you really can't read too much into a parent speaking in past tense when their kid is missing. He said their mind jumps from best case scenario to worst case scenario and they can easily slip into past tense at that time but not because they are guilty. That said, I think Casey knows exactly what happened to Caylee...

I think a lot of times we "read into" every little thing said, try to make something of it, when sometimes it has no sinister meaning at all.

And that being said, I TOO think Casey knows what happened to Caylee.

But I don't think the use of past tense is particularly noteworthy.

Holy cow! It's hard for me to understand how a person could listen to those audio tapes and think that those detectives were anything but exemplary in what they had to do. I didn't hear "brow beating" at all. My hat's off to them! Sheesh I feel like sending them a bunch of roses for the great job they did with Casey!

I agree, however, that there is no SOLID proof (other than circumstantial) at this point THAT WE KNOW OF, that Casey harmed Caylee. I disagree though with you that the case won't come to trial. Oh yes it will, and this girl doesn't stand a chance in &*$% of not being convicted of something regarding Caylee's death.

Let me also say I agree with you that people who don't agree with the majority many times get "picked on"...been there, done that myself...and I see it happen continually to two or three posters. Hopefully, CW has put a stop to that. So......hope you continue posting. I don't think ANYONE should be run off.

:seeya:ITA, for the first weeks of this (when I posted under my other nic) I got alot of grief for being firm in my belief that this was a murder, no Zanny, no accident. The tides have turned now, and that POV is more prevalent, especially I see after people have heard the tapes.
Stick to your guns in what you believe, but be open to what any new FACT tells you. Being closed minded won't help anyone reach a decent conclusion. I try hard not to discard facts that go agaainst my POV, and to see anything from more than one direction. There were some WAY out there things said early on...some of which are tame in comparison with the things we have since learned.
No need for anyone to go unless they are just antagonistic and rude, then I only WISH they would begone.

I also find it interesting that she then tells the "good cop" how Zanny used to give her praise about how she was raising Caylee...she actually says something like Zanny said she was "PROUD of the way Caylee was being raised" and then says, "you know, nothing I haven't heard from friends before..." I think she was trying to convince them (and herself) that she was a good mom. Interesting that she does this right after "good cop" bring up Cindy yelling at Casey and fighting with her. Since we now know about Cindy's talk with the counselor and advice to get custody. IMO

That is what Cindy claims, but I'm not sure I believe it. I think it is more likely that Cindy got irrefutable evidence on Casey's misdeeds at times in the past, and then (and only then) Casey probably made up a lie/excuse to explain away the situation which Cindy took for the truth. Like the "borrowing" of credit cards... JMO
