View Full Version : How GENUINE BLACKLIGHT can aid in the search for those who go missing

LivinITup posted this on one of the daily threads and I suggested she start a thread so more people would see her post (they get buried too fast in the daily thread). She asked if I'd post it for her, so here it is. It's actually quite fascinating and she informed us that she sent this off to Tim Miller of EquuSearch.

HOLY CRAP this thread moves so fast this entire post will probably get lost but here is the goods:

I discovered this while playing with my kids, I also was involved with a search for a deceased person who was brutually murdered, I'm being vague on purpose for safety sake I don't wan't my location to be given way.

This involves BASIC science.

The use of a GENUINE BLACKLIGHT.

Please research on your own how and why a blacklight works.

Using a genuine blacklight, and for the purposes of a search for someone, you need to purchase a specific blacklight that is well over 50 watts.

Here's what I've learned about searching;

Night comes at blazing speed the first day someone goes missing.

Sometimes a good hour or so goes by before the reality sets in that someone is lost. It is CRUCIAL during that first night to try to find someone if you want to find them alive.

Confused people such as with Alzheimer's or Autism can actually become frightened by all the searchers hollering their name (this actually happened about 2 years ago with a slightly autistic boy scout who was too scared to answer to searchers),

With this method, using a portable generator and a portable deer stand in the back of a pickup, a person can stand up in the deer stand shine the black light on the ground and have "spotters" on the ground checking out the things that you can see with the black light.

The reason this works so extremely well is because of the modern laundry detergents we all use today. Our clothes contain PHOSPHORS that actually absorb the UV light, lower the frequency and reflect it back out at us and we see it as a GLOWING LIGHT.

That is why the person needs to be above ground and have some type of clothing item or blanket on them.

In the searches that I have been involved in, when night comes the search ends until the next day. This loses very precious time especially when looking for a lost loved one.

I have tested this on my own family and I can tell you it's extremely effective!!

The best part about it is that it actually works the best in the woods, field, grass ditch ect...because the natural foilage doesn't contain phosphors and so the ground looks nearly black and the clothing is GLOWING AWAY!

Tonight, you can experiment with this to a smaller degree right at your own home, taking a blacklight that you can buy at any hardware store or discount chain...this is very important though YOU CANNOT use the "painted" blue/black incandescent bulbs because they are not "true" black lights and do not emit the correct wave length of UV light.,

Anyway have one of your family members go lay in the yard and even try to cover them up with some leaves. Turn the black light on and you will be AMAZED!!

Especially if they have white socks on, they won't be able to hide! AND if they start to laugh while you are shining the light on them their TEETH will often glow too!!

So there it is...for all the world to see.

Write it down and tape it to your fridge and I'm telling you if someone goes missing near where you live, you show up with a black light and you will find them if they are laying somewhere in need of help.

I really look forward to hearing from you folks on this. [/*]

That is such an awesome ideal that LivinITup thought of!!!

I have been use one for decades to show/teach Children about Mother Nature, also I take mine with me camping & always check to see if I'm gonna be setting my sleeping bag up around any scorpions.

Okay ...I just read that while shining a black light on stain in the trunk it glowed.
So what does that really mean?

all the above info is when there is a person to shine the light on it will detect that person.
But what about a stain?

Help me here.

Black lights are really interesting to play with. I'm a Halloween freaks so that why I use them.

As Livin said, anything with phosphurs in it will glow under a black light. Many household items have these. Laundry soap, Dawn Dish soap, bleach, etc.

Bodily fluids will also glow under a black light. The light is used as a tool. LE will then swab a 'stain' to see it it's blood, salivia, etc, and if its human.

LE says they have proof that a dead Caylee was in the trunk. We've also been told that Arm and hammer laundry soap was in the trunk.

That trunk may have had alot of glowing goin on. IMO. Especially if the Arm and hammer was used to try and clean up the 'stains'

I did find the answer:
Body Fluids
Many body fluids contain fluorescent molecules. Forensic scientists use ultraviolet lights at crime scenes to find blood, urine, or semen (all fluorescent).

But I don't remember reading that laundry soap was in the trunk also.
Hummmm!

That would be good to search more open areas, but not areas that could be dangerous at night.

I'd like to hear Tim's response.

This would fluoresce bone also?

My son has blacklight in his room. Everything light colored or especially white glows like crazy.

Do they make black lights for flashlights?

Not that this has anything to do with this case but, cat pee also illuminates under a blacklight. (Easy to find where that cat pee smell is coming from)

I think I saw that quite some time ago.

Thanks for posting this Natalie!

I'm really admire those that are searching, but would alligators, crocodiles, bears, and black panthers show up on black light? They are more active at night.

Thank you for bumping this thread.

LivinITup was unfortunately banned from IN Sessions for some posts she made while having a "Midol moment".

She remains quite close to me however and I can tell you that this method is very highly effective and being worked on as we speak.

I'll try to keep you updated.

P.S. Provisional patent is being applied for to protect this idea. [/*]

I bumped this because I think its a great idea, and really hope that all plans go well.

p.s. I was there and witnessed the midol moment it's all good

Fascinating stuff! Good luck with your Research and Development, I'll be keeping a lookout for this technique to come into broad use. It sounds like a wonderful solution to keeping a search going when time is of the essence.

TY for sharing LivingITup and Justamama. TY for the scorpion tip and pic too.:)
