:seeya: Hi. Can anyone recommend some good books? I recently finished reading "Stolen Innocence" by Elissa Wall. It's about her escape from the FLDS. She is the woman who pressed charges against Warren Jeffs for forcing her to marry her cousin at 14. She's a brave young woman!

I am reading a good book by Joan Johnston called A Stranger's Game. It's a good mystery that will make you not want to put the book down.

I'm a big fan of the book, "Gone With the Wind," and I always assume most of us who are readers have read this classic. The sequel, "Scarlet," was TERRIBLE - I never finished it; but, the new sequel, "Rhett Butler's People," is a really good read. I am a tough critic, too! It does help to know the original story, though.

Thanks for the suggestions! Right now I'm in the middle of "The Lace Reader" by Brunonia Barry. I am enjoying it. It is about a woman who returns to her home town-Salem-after leaving 15 years earlier. The woman's elderly aunt, a lace reader(Psychic), is missing. Later, the old woman is found drowned. The story is very interesting and pulls you in immediately.:read:

I am reading an excellent book by Elizabeth George, it's the scotland yards Dective Thomas Lynley, it's a really good mystery.

3. A Beautiful Child by Matt Birkbeck: This book revolves around a girl who was kidnapped as a child by a dangerous criminal. She was held captive for over 15 years, abused and tortured by her kidnapper. When she tried to escape, he killed her. The really shocking thing is that no one knows who this girl is. The only clue they have to go on is a photo of her and the kidnapper that was taken back in the early 70's. This child was a mystery in life and in death. Really good book.

4. The Darkest Night by Ron Franscell: This book revolves around a horrible crime that took place in a small town in Wyoming over 30 years ago. Two sisters were kidnapped and assaulted by two criminals. If that wasn't horrible enough, the thugs tossed both girls over the side of a bridge that crossed over a deep canyon. One of the sisters survived the attack. The book goes on to chronicle her struggles throughout her life and her need to understand why she survived and her little sister didn't. Powerful book.

I read A Beautiful Child several months ago and was absolutely riveted. That is one of THE best true crimes books I've ever read. What a story! Wow! The author did a superb job.

I just recently finished The Darkest Night. VERY horrific crime. I thought the book was kinda so-so, maybe I didn't like the writer's style so much, I don't really know.

I will avoid it like a bad rash. I barely got myself out of funk, don't need to drag myself down there again.
