PHILADELPHIA - For days before Danieal Kelly died in a fetid, airless room — made stifling hot by a midsummer heat wave — the bedridden teenager begged for something to drink until she could muster only one word: water.

Just unbelievable that so many monstrous people could be involved with the care of one child. Why do the parents have children? Why do these social workers get in the profession? How can people be so, so brutal?
For Danieal...:rose: May you be in loving arms forever and ever.

This sort of thing makes me just want to vomit.
Why was this social worker even ALLOWED to touch another case after the 3 week old baby died?? He should have been fired or confined to desk duty pushing papers and filing *@&@%^$ pencils.
I hate reading things like this.. it's so heartbreaking.. that poor girl never stood a chance between her own parents and the severely lacking social services help she should have been receiving.

if she did not want the child, why not let the state find a home for her, I just don't get it? was there a ex involved that wanted the child and she did not want to pay to support her child?

This is heart wrenching. At least the powers that be seems to be putting the blame on all of them, not just the parent. There has to be some accountability with these workers. They get in these jobs, they work for cheap and they cant possibly do the job with the resources available. Some are dedicated, I know, but most are drawing a paycheck and if someone dies......oh well.......
But we, as a country, have to get involved. That is the bottom line. Make our lawmakers hear our outrage and demand reform. The old saw, our children are our most precious resource, is still true.
Poor baby girl. :rose:

From the article:
She had been lying on the filthy mattress for so long that her body outline was imprinted on it.
Everyone involved should be treated the same way. What a perfect world would that be?

I have not been able to stop thinking about this since I read it this morning. I hope they all rot in hell. :flamemad: Why in the world did this happen? There are people out there that foster/adopt disabled children all the time. Did the parents not think about this? WTF?? Instead they abuse her, ignore her and God knows what else until she dies. You can't tell me she didn't know she was dying either. What a waste and a shame. I hope the department is happy with their HR Staff at this point. Sounds like a complete overhaul should be the next step. :cuss:

I have no clue how organizations of social workers operate, but I held the assumption that people seek out those positions mostly for desire to want to help other people. They're there because they care, I assumed. And in that manner, I would never have considered that those people could possibly look at their job in such a detatched, disdainful manner. If they weren't interested, they'd be in greener pastures, right?
But... No? I am utterly confused as to how the people of such a supposedly benevolent institution could instead be so.... malign. I'm deeply confused over this. Maybe I'm misunderstanding.
