If they were not in this country illegally then they would not have anything to worry about. Maybe they should think about going back home now. Also I am so tired of the excuse that "they have family here, so f**king what!! Having family here does not equal into a free pass to break the laws.

I'd bet if they turn themselves in, they'd be given safe shelter. And later deported.
Again, people put themselves in this position but they are the victims?? Sorry Lita. If they followed the law in the first place there would not be an issue.

We should leave them alone when a possible catastrophe could strike whether it's an act of god or not. It's one thing to try and apprehend illegal immigrants crossing the border, but trying to apprehend them when running to safety from a hurricane is totally another.

Wealthy philanthropic foundations are helping bankroll the pro-immigration movement, while groups advocating for tighter control of U.S. borders say they take a more grassroots approach to raising money.
The Ford Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation and Democratic activist George Soros, among other liberal funders, have donated millions of dollars to pro-immigration groups, as the Senate continues its debate on a contentious bill that would overhaul the nation's immigration policy

Everyone has choices. These people have choices. They made a choice to come over here illegally. They made a choice to be deported if caught. They now fear if a storm comes, they could lose their life or a life of a loved one. They have a choice to return to their homeland and be safe.
America has choices. America has laws. America chooses to enforce their laws.

They apparently have money in their country that they save up overtime. Thats according to your post("Here I come America fund"). They pay thousands of $'s to be able to sneak in to America. Run the risk of being caught and deported. When caught and deported return to their country and start over again. If they had not given the thousands of $'s to people smugglers in the first place and kept on saving wouldn't they be ahead in the long run. It's basically the same ? I asked earlier. If they are able to save thousands of $'s while in their country, why give the money to people smugglers and run the risk of lossing it all. IMO your attempt to help these folks is somewhat missguided. If your truly interested in helping these folks, why not teach them basic economics along with a course on applying for a green card or citizenship. IMO your time would be better spent than beating that old worn out drum that Americans do not want the jobs.:patriot: [/*]
Well according to the anti comrads on this forum say any american down and out would gladly take an illegal immigrant job. And I have said, numerous times, I don't see hundreds or even thousands of americans wanting to pick strawberries, or wash dishes for the rest of their lives and by beating down the door of the nearest unemployment office to do so.
Why poke fun at what they eat? Is there something wrong with their types of foods? It's actually very good.

My older brother washed dishes when he was younger. I washed dishes. My neice worked detassling corn crops. My friend's husband does landscaping as a career. Yes, some of us move on, some like the work and keep doing it, but there are always people that do these jobs. They just don't do them for slave wages. Lita,
You support a better life for a group of people. Why would you not do all you can to stop the root of their problems? Is it better to only care about them after they leave behind their life and family only to risk their life and break another countries laws and have to live in secrecy?
On the other hand, myself as well as many others here support our laws being enforced. This means they need to return to their country of origin either voluntarily or involuntarily and follow the procedures in place if they desire to come here. Do you propose that we should try to force Mexico into making laws to stop their people from leaving?

Maybe they would change so that they would not be breaking our laws? As has been pointed out, they break the law to come here. They break it by working when here illegally. They break it by driving (and don't try to say none do). They often drive without insurance which breaks another one.
They want to be part of this country, but to be part of it, they have to respect all of it, including it's laws.

Follow? You mean where I recognize the laws that they do break? The choice was all theirs to come here legally or not. They chose not to. The US gave them the chance to come here legally through the procedures that are in place. Just because it's not a fast and easy route does not mean it's invalid. They chose the illegal path, not me. Our government owes them nothing for breaking our laws, and neither do I.

You are dreaming if you really believe they do not break many laws. Of course you won't answer this and I expect the same rhetoric, sans any real explanation. You have shown that you don't care what problems are caused for American citizens by the fact that so many illegals are living a lie.
I am beginning to think that the group you support is very, very small and perhaps your kinfolk or friends. If you are fully supporting (as in financially supporting) those here illegally so they do not steal people's identities, soak the taxpayers or take jobs that might benefit our youth or poor, then maybe they only broke one law. But, guess what, one law broken is one too many.
Last I checked, none of us are allowed to break any laws without some kind of punishment. Deportation isn't even a punishment and I'd suggest they all save themselves a lot of grief by just leaving before they get caught and held by ICE. ICE is not the enemy and I am tired of some people making them out to be the bad guys. More and more people are behind ICE and enforcing our laws. The message is clear and I hope someone translates it to the illegals right away. [/*]
Come on Brat, do I have to continue to post links indicating illegal immigrants do pay taxes? And I have also provided links that certain banks are approving loans for them to buy homes. Why do you continue the same rhetoric?
Don't worry I'll answer your questions Brat. I'm not afraid to state my opinion no matter how many people are against me.
What I see from anti's point of view is only one solution: deportation and it's not right. It's not fair. Many did not apply for amnesty in 1986 because some were only here a year or two, and you could only apply if you lived here for four years or more. Secondly, many did not have the appropriate paperwork to prove they did. Third, many did not believe our government and was afraid to apply for fear of deporation. It took time for people to gain confidence in the process.
Many have thought about listening to our government and laws by going home and applying legally but they do not trust our government:
Here's a snippet from when Bush's bill may have gone through
Cesar Damian Solis, who earns up to $600 a month laying bricks and pipe in Phoenix, thinks most illegal
immigrants would rather have a plan that allows them to remain in the United States while their applications are
processed. "I want to wait here and I will pay here," said Solis, 22, who left Mexico two years ago. "Sometimes I think the
government is lying. They can say go over there to your country, wait over there. Then they never answer. That's one of the main points that immigrants don't trust," said Tarazona, 19, who came to U.S. with his family when he was 11 years old and overstayed his visa. "Why do they have to go back and how much time?"
Immigration lawyers said a key unknown is whether the agency handling visa application promises not to share
information with deportation officers. Such a promise was made in 1986. "No one is going to come forward if they think it may lead to deportation," said Mary Meg McCarthy, a lawyer at
the National Immigrant Justice Center in Chicago.

The illegals broke the law and don't want to get caught. Period.
How on earth is it not fair to catch and deport them?
Much, much worse would happen to us if we attempted to pull this stuff in Mexico. Of course, there's no free lunch there and severe penalties for entering illegally. They are just lately trying to appear kinder to the illegals there in hopes of convincing us to keep their people. They need that money sent back in remittances. The Mexican government must laugh themselves silly at what their country has been able to do to us Americans.
Laying brick and pipe for 600.00 a month?? That job still pays decent around here, but as soon as some of these local companies realize how much more profit they could make by hiring illegals, that will change. Shame that so many jobs are going so cheap now. And most of us don't get government aid so some people are really hurting. And we pay taxes legally. Way too many taxes, and I wonder if you've looked at the numbers. The money spent on illegals far outweighs any contribution from them.
Face it, as long as you choose to view us Americans as snobs who can get any job they want at whatever pay they demand, you'll have an easier time of accusing us of being racist or mean just because we want laws enforced and no more favortism for certain groups who break laws. [/*]

I agree Brat, that job pays decent here too. Even to illegal immigrants. Who lays brick and pipe for $600.00 a month? Either he's lying or he's crazy. Thats probably the amount he "reports" he earns to his welfare worker and to the IRS. If he is paid weekly (average 4.33 weeks in a month) $138.56 a week divide by 40 hours=$3.46 an hour. Come on now! Lita you want us to believe he pays taxes on that income? Right. If he is paid $600.00 per month his yearly income is $7200.00. Not taxable dear. Therefore it costs the U.S. taxpayers to have him here, the only one profiting is the greedy employer. Plus I wonder who's job that was before he took it.

Turned it over to welfare. I had to go thru welfare to get support for my son, not me. Welfare was supposed to get payment back from him. We got back together and bought a house. We both worked. Come income tax time, IRS took our taxes to pay back the money. Not just his taxes, but mine too, because it was joint.
So, oh yea, it needs changing. And it still boils down to, its our law, and we MUST abide. We meaning legal citizens.

Sorry Jo but this is going to piss you off more.
All parents/caretakers who apply or receive Medi-cal (Medi-caid for some) are required to cooperate with the local child support agency and give information on the absent parent so that the government can go after the absent parent financially for the benefits their child received (just like in your case). If the parent/caretaker refuses. Then the parent/caretaker is denied benefits (as long as she is not pregnant) for failing to cooperate with child support.
HOWEVER, there is one exception. Guess what it is? If the absent parent is an illegal immigrant, then it is not a requirement.
Because our government doesn't even try to locate the illegal immigrant absent parent and make him/her pay for the costs of their child (as they did in your case). They always claim family is #1. Then why are our caseloads full of illegal immigrant absent parents? So your husband had to pay child support owed. Then you guys got to pay for the medical costs of the children of illegal immigrant parents.
Special rules for special folks, must be nice. I smell dicscrimination, and it stinks!

Look, you need to face the facts! In many instances some racism is involved whether the person making the accusations realizes it or not.
The Democratic allegations of racism may sound like just another political ploy, but there certainly is a case to be made that racial fears are informing some of the debate on immigration policy. The political demand to seal the U.S.-Mexico border, and the President's new proposal to send 6,000 members of the National Guard to help do that, is nominally based on national security. But why then is no one proposing sending additional National Guard troops to secure the U.S.-Canada border? Don't laugh. Ahmed Ressam, the so-called Millennium Bomber, was caught at the Canadian border with a trunk full of explosive precursor material and a plot to bomb Los Angeles Airport. And as for the notion that terrorists are mixing with undocumented border crossers to infiltrate the country from the south, all 19 of the 9/11 plotters entered the U.S. legally. Just as important, the debate could address the issue of race head-on: should ethnicity be a factor in granting citizenship? There are a small number of respectable scholars, like Harvard's Samuel P. Huntington, who argue that the large Hispanic influx into America does threaten its character.

Racism is just an excuse not to enforce our immigration laws. Honestly terrorism and illegal immigration are two totally seperate issues. One (hopefully) has nothing to do with the other. However they are both a huge threat to this country.

You just use racism as a crutch Lita. Debate the facts. We all know racism has nothing to do with wanting our immigration laws enforced. It's a sign of weakness when you need to constantly throw in the race card. Sorry, but it is.

Because some with racist views are out there against illegal immigration does not mean that those that are against illegal immigration have racist views. That is why they are seperate. You like to let them blend to create false arguements to prove your points.

What I don't understand why you just won't admit that you really don't know anything about the group of illegal immigrants that you support other than they have been in this country illegally the longest. [/*]
I do know as a fact. Why the hell do you think I would be sitting here day after day, supporting a certain group of illegal immigrants, getting bashed, namecalled and ridiculed if I didn't really know? Do you think I just pulled it out of thin air? I have given links to support what I say but nnnnooooooooo. It's either an editorial piece, an article that is over a month old or it's something from a pro website! Even if I had an illegal immigrant on here posting, supporting what I say, it wouldn't change a damn thing so what's the point?
No matter what I say, it will not change the fact that you and everyone else on this illegal immigration forum are not willing to give a chance to people who deserve it, who've earned it. Your mindset is that they have all broken several laws, they take jobs from americans; americans who don't even want those jobs! If it weren't so sad, it would be laughable.

They do have a chance. Procedures are in place to apply to come here. As far as earning it, what have they earned? Just because they worked, while breaking the law to work I may add. I've worked for over 20 years. What have I earned besides the pay check I get every week? Do I get some special consideration? You act as if they have only broken 1 law in coming here. How many people can you actually say that have been here over 20 years have done nothing more than cross the border? As for the jobs they work, we've shown time and time again that Americans do these jobs and only require they pay a reasonable wage.
Lita, you continue to ignore anything that has been posted and see your group through the blinders you wear. The day they showed up here, they showed they were willing to break the law. Is that what you want to laugh at?

They have earned my respect after going through everything they go through just trying to survive. They don't even know day to day whether they will make money for the week to put food on the table; something you would know nothing about since you do get paid every week. You have a pension, unemployment benefits, health benefits, tax refunds, etc. They don't get that.
I'm not ignoring anything Ranger. They showed up here is right, and nothing was done. They were allowed to stay with no repercussions and they build their lives here because of that. Now that it's out of control these same people need to leave?
It's just wrong, it's immoral.

Where is your respect for our own people who don't know if they can put food on their table? We have millions unemployed, we have single parents working mininum paying jobs. Why should illegals get preferential treatment over our own people? Don't you think we should have our tax dollars supporting our own people first? Your right, its just wrong, and its immoral to put illegals before your own people.
In todays world, I didn't know that all jobs came with all those bennies you talk about. I know my husbands job doesn't. And he's legal.

The things you talk about are because I work within the law! If I worked under the table or used someone else's identity, how much of that would I be getting?
They weren't allowed to stay, they hid. And not enough was done to find them. That is being rectified. So yes, these people that have been circumventing the law need to atone for their actions that put them in this place. Again, their actions. They did it. Facing the consequences of breaking the law is right. Continuing to break the law knowingly is the immoral action.

Compare myself to them? Where? By saying if I ignored the laws of the country I'm supposedly building? Not at all! I work within the law. I don't go to another country, break their laws and expect to be rewarded for it.

And, as is shown over and over, states nowhere near the Mexican border are seeing taxpayer dollars to support illegal aliens growing by leaps and bounds. ANOTHER Amnesty Program is NOT the solution. Here are some more facts and figures for New Jersey found in my research.
Sure, many of them hold jobs and are hard working, BUT:
"Welfare Use by Working Immigrant Families: Most immigrants from Mexico and Latin America hold jobs. Their heavy use of the welfare system is due to the fact that a very large share have LITTLE EDUCATION and as a result are able to earn only low incomes in the modern American economy, even though they work. The welfare system is geared toward helping low-income workers, especially those with children. Their education levels and the presence of U.S.-born children means welfare use will be extensive."
Sure, some of them pay taxes, BUT:
"Tax Payments: Of course, immigrants, including illegal aliens, also pay taxes. However, because of the education level and resulting incomes levels of Mexican and Latin American immigrants, their tax payments are much less than natives on average. The same is true for illegal aliens. In a 2004 study, the Center for Immigration Studies estimated that illegal alien households used about $2,700 more services than they paid in taxes at the federal level only. We also found that households headed by a legal Mexican immigrant created a net fiscal drain at the federal level of roughly $15,000, and for those with only a high school degree the drain was a little over $3,700."

Speaking of education levels, it is obvious by what is shown below that education is NOT a priority in the culture of some groups:

Most recently available and rounded off to the nearest whole percentage, the population demographics for New Jersey are:
White: 71%
Black: 14%
Hispanic: 14%
Other 1%
New Jersey State Department of Education: http://www.locationnj.com/Demog_NJ_General.asp
2006-2007 Dropout Rates (K-12); rounded off to the nearest whole percentage, the figures are as follows:
White: 33%

Hispanic: 33%
Other: 3%

And the issues for teens getting jobs gets worse all the time.
The uncomfortable reality, as Andrew Sum sees it, is that there's a direct link between the steep national decline in teen employment rates and the growing practice of businesses hiring illegal immigrants and paying them off the books.
Sum is the director of the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University and lead author of a widely cited nationwide study projecting teen employment will continue to fall, with a drop to 36.7 percent this summer from 45 percent in 2000. That puts it at or near its lowest level since the data series began in 1948, despite a strengthening economy and improving overall labor market.

California is seeing it happen in ever increasing dollars; millions of dollars each and every month.
Here's a statement from Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich:
"WELFARE COSTS FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS IN L.A. COUNTY OVER $36 MILLION IN JANUARY 2008
New statistics from the Department of Public Social Services reveal that illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $36 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in January 2008.
25% of all welfare and food stamps benefits is going directly to the children of illegal aliens. Illegals collected over $19 million in welfare assistance in January 2008, and over $16 million in monthly food stamp allocations, for a projected annual cost of $412 million.
“Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,” said Antonovich. “With $220 million for public safety, $400 million for healthcare, and $412 million in welfare allocations, the total cost for illegal immigrants to Los Angeles County taxpayers far exceeds $1 billion a year – NOT including the millions of dollars for education.”
* * * * * * * * * * * *
If you do not think this is happening in New Jersey on a smaller scale you are kidding yourself.
I, as well as other readers of this thread, take note that your single sentence above was the only reply to some serious research and statistics.
And your recent comment, "Has nothing to do with the people I support, " is telling, indeed.
You have been asked several times to identify who 'the people you support' are and you refuse to answer in even the most general terms.
No one here knows if you philosophically 'support a single family' of illegals or are a paid/volunteer spokesperson for a group that has convinced you they need your sympathy. For all anyone here knows you could be an illegal alien yourself.
Today you have shown to me at least that your mind is closed to facts, statistics and publications from linked sources. Your replies often consist of off hand comments that aren't even worthy of an 8th grader. You throw out the racial card whenever it suits you and you are miffed.
There is no reason for me or anyone else to try to conduct a serious exhange of ideas with you. [/*]
Actually it was a valid question. Just because it wasn’t a full page question does not mean it wasn’t valid. The group I support does not use forged docments to collect welfare. If anything, they may collect on a child they had here in the US and that is it. Your research really doesn't phase me one bit. I, too, have done plenty of research and what I've found only confirms my beliefs, that we need a revamped immigration system and it also has shown me how american citizens are so easily apt to condemn another human being for trying to have better life with no stipulations but deportation for these people. It makes me sick.
As far as the people I support, I’ve been posting about them since day one, and up until Jo wanted to know who these people are, no one gave a crap about the group I support because she and everyone else on this board threw illegal immigrants into one entire group. They never gave a crap they helped build this country, that they do in fact pay into the system, that they do speak fluent English. I’ve given my stories on how I know these people. I don’t know what you want. You want real names? Pictures? What? So freaking ridiculous. I have told the truth, it’s up to you whether or not you believe me either way and if statistics show, you won’t give a crap either, so what is the point? But they are ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS who do not fall into your murderous, scandalous, raping, robbing, human beings category.
I have again reiterated I am not an illegal alien. I am an American citizen I was born here and I am not Hispanic. Again, it’s up to you if you want to believe me or not.
My mind isn’t closed, but it is closed to repetitive, one sided, links that only support your point of view. I have always stated close the borders, I have read and listened to each and every argument. The situation is this: I DON”T AGREE WITH YOU. I don’t care if you think I’m in kindergarten, I’m only trying to get my point across as well as you, and obviously, there’s more than one mind or one avenue closed on this thread if you want to take that path, at the very least, at least I listen and if I agree, I will state that I do. I don’t push anyone away who at least is humble, fair, and is just willing to listen. I’ve been called all sorts of names on this forum, you are no different and that’s sad.

Even citizens have to fill out paperwork, apply for a social security number, etc. when their child is born to make sure everything is in order. Can you imagine how far we'd get if we tried to get the shortcuts that illegals do? I can't fathom applying for a loan without giving my life's history to the loan officer, or worse yet, applying with a fake identity. I'd go directly to jail.
I noticed when I register my kids for school each year that there is a section asking about citizenship. If you check "no", then it seems you don't have to fill out all the info. That would be so much easier and cheaper. I should check the "no" box and maybe my kids will get free schooling. Might not get caught since if you're here illegally, the policy is for them to look the other way.
Naw, on second thought, I can't break the law because I respect this country and it's people. Besides, I speak English and that would be a dead give away.

As I said, when I feel someone is right, I'll say it. It's true, I don't like the term "anchor baby". I just don't like it. It's not their fault they were born here. It's not their fault their parents may have to collect welfare to survive. Why blame the children? Anchor baby is a derogatory term and shouldn't be applied to these innocent children.
Hmmm. Wonder how you feel about america bringing in the Iraqi's? Guess that's ok because their country is going through a hardship right? But hey, even though some Mexicans, or a south american country, etc. aren't going through hardships at all are they? Nope. I would also surmise the Iraqi's will be let in just as they did many many years ago, with their names on a piece of paper and a health exam.

You say things such as "it's not their fault, they can't help it, etc." Why do you feel as though they aren't quite as bright, as clever, as knowledgeable as real citizens? I would like to hold everyone to the same standard. These people aren't stupid, I believe they know right from wrong. It is because I would like to treat all humans as equals that I believe they should be held responsible and accountable for their misdeeds. Treating them as subhuman is really doing them a disservice. Perhaps if you expect the best from everyone, they would rise to the occasion. Treating certain groups of people as though they are inept and incompetent is just another form of oppression.
Herlock [/*]
They are not mentally challenged, that was asinine for you to say. How are they supposed to do anything, when they are shunned wherever they go? No paperwork, nothing. You tell me ole wise one.

I would much prefer the best and brightest. Of course, that they are "challenged" is NOT what I believe but seems to be what you think. I believe they are perfectly capable of navigating our system. Many just refuse. They are practiced and adept at maneuvering outside the legal boundaries (no easy task!) while other determined immigrants choose to do the right thing.
Nope, I say, hold them to the same standard that we hold others to. It's the right thing to do. When held to those same requirements that everyone else is, imagine the satisfaction, the pride they would feel when accomplishing this task. Perhaps they would discover a respect for the USA that has sadly been lacking.

The illegals aren't stupid, but just need help to get around the laws and avoid getting caught. Look at everything they've gotten away with. You have to be smart to play the system to the extent they have.
In the long run, the only thing holding the illegals back is themselves. Even though applying for citizenship takes a long time, they don't even bother to get work visas. I think it's because a good number of them want no part of us and just want to take advantage of anything here that benefits them before returning to the country they love. [/*]

Yes many of them are to lazy to take the time to go through the process that we have in place, and have had in place for a long time. American citizenship is not something that should be given a way. It is something that people should have to earn by putting time and effort into getting it. We expect our military to put their lives on the line and fight for our country, then the least we can do is be careful of who we let into our country.
You say that if they get caught crossing one time they can not apply, which is a bunch of bs. There are illegal immigrants who have crossed illegally more than ten times before they were charged with entering illegally.
What the hell are they suppose to do? THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO ENTER LEGALLY!!!! It really is not that hard to understand. Immigrants have been entering legally for a many years.
Also you have called Americans lazy but yet you get defensive when illegal immigrants are called lazy hmmm.... and you wonder why I question your loyalty to this country and your fellow Americans. Amazing.

We've had enough and are not willing, or able, to pay the price of leaving them alone. If they want to be left alone, they can go home or apply to come and obey the laws of the land. As long as they are here illegally and creating hardships for us, we will fight back. [/*]

No Jenny. I am not Spanish nor do I have roots in the south. I use the nic Lita for other reasons and has it nothing to do with the name and its heritage.
I never said make the rules disappear. I have never said that. I have kept saying over and over again, which is completely overlooked by the anti’s, to “close the borders immediately”. The borders need to be closed if this problem is to be rectified. Once the borders are closed, this will allow our government to take a deep breath, get their chit together and start revamping the illegal immigration system we currently have in place. It’s a long, drawnout process, that is really unfair, not only to the people who have been waiting for years but for the people who have lived here a long time and have paid into the system. There’s nothing wrong with revamping the process, with stipulations, and everyone can live peacefully together.
I also have a problem with the anti’s “get legal” and we’re happy attitude. Because one poster who continually tells me she’s tired of the illegal immigrants taking the time up of teachers who are teaching her children who are of course American, in our public school system because, so what if illegal immigrants change their status? They are still having trouble speaking English and learning English, the teachers time will still be used teaching the “now legal immigrants”, time will still be taken away from her child. So what’s the point of all this? What difference does it make?
I am passionate about this. About the people who have worked here very hard, sometimes three jobs trying to make ends meet, who send their children to school, who are happy to be here in America and following our rules and culture. Who have contributed to our system the best they know how and not getting anything back for it. They are not taking advantage of it. They love America and only want a chance, that is all without the risk of deportation.

Current immigration rates are moderate, even though America admitted more legal immigrants from 1991 to 2000 (between 10-11 million) than in any previous decade.
Since 2000, legal immigrants to the United States number approximately 1,000,000 per year
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigration_to_the_United_States
How many should be admitted a year Lita? There are limits, and as long as more want to come here than the limit levels, there will always be a line. You talk as if somehow the wait will go away, but that will not happen unless the limits are removed. If you figure a 5 day work week for people to approve immigrant applications, that's about 4,000 people a day.
And one more note in regards to us not doing enough to get immigrants in.....
the United States accepts more legal immigrants as permanent residents than any other country in the world

Well what poster could you be referring to? Hmmmm could it be me?
So you think if they were all to come here legally that we would still have the same amount of non English speaking children in our schools? If you do you are wrong, since there are so many entering this country illegally every day, day after day, that we are not prepared to handle such a huge increase in our population. If they would have respected our laws in the first place and taken time to go through our immigration system then we would have time to prepare for them, since we would know before hand how many were coming and the immigrants would have time to learn how to speak even a little bit of English before coming here.
Also the parents and children would be made to go through a health check before coming here. If the parents have some form of illness like TB, and they are not made to go through a health check, sooner or later their child will be infected with TB and I do not want that child sitting in the same class room as my child.
There are many reasons why we have a process and for you to think that we should let them ignore that process is putting our kids in danger. If you want to risk your child's education and health, that is your irresponsible choice, but you have no right to be that careless with every other child who is in this country legally.
I will never understand how people like you think that it is ok for illegal immigrants to skip such an important process such as our immigration process. If we all thought the way you do we would be living in a third world country for sure.
Every single illegal immigrant in this country (even the ones in your group) needs to be deported, even the ones who have worked three jobs, since if they have that many jobs then some where out there is an unemployed American citizen or legal immigrant who needs that job and more than likely had that job first, until the illegal immigrant came along and took that job. The needs of illegal immigrants do not and should not ever come before the needs of any person here legally and any American citizen who puts the needs of people here illegally first, is not loyal to this country.

To find out who the convicts, drug lords, gang members and etc are, takes time, which is another reason there is a waiting period. There are other ways they can document illegals here. First, ship home the ones that are incarcerated, second, go through all records of welfare recipients, case workers need to check them out, and their entire families, third, Mexico must give us full access to their criminal records. It's the only way to check out people. I, obviously know, there may not be a record for all of those people, but I"m sure, I'm sure, they can find some and ship them back.
As far as the people with no record and who are here, they need to be documented, monitored, very carefully.

To screen them takes checks. To do those checks takes time. As it is, 4,000 a day. How many more can be added? How cooperative is Mexico going to be to hand over records so that we only send back the bad ones? You're right about what we don't want, but still, identifying these takes time. Do you really see that number per day being increased? And while it's not part of this particular discussion, your own words are the biggest reason why amnesty would be a horrible idea!
And if it doesn't take much time to put a name into a computer, why the resistance to the e-check system for employment verification?

Well the rule was broken by many. There is no use in trying to rectify something they did a long time ago. There has to be a medium here. Many have been here a long time, why convict them now? We don't get away with breaking the law and we sure don't get rewarded for breaking the law and neither should anyone who is in this country illegally.
We have given amnesty to illegal immigrants before and it was the worst thing we ever did because it caused more immigrants to come here illegally. They are a burden on this country and the citizens. They are destroying the lives of American citizens.
Like I said before, the needs and wants of illegal immigrants should NEVER come before the needs and wants of the American citizens.
Also no matter what they have contributed to this country it does not come close to what they have taken from this country. They all need to be deported.

How about I go rob a bank and then go into hiding for a number of years. When that time is over, I'll even pay taxes on the money I stole. So I should just get to keep it now with no penalty right? It's really simple Lita. They broke the law. In all likelyhood, multiple laws when you consider most drive unlicensed and work while here illegally. Time does not change that. Allowing them to stay is a reward. You don't reward someone for breaking the law just because they hide in the corners, continueing to break laws, and don't get caught for a number of years!!

Robbing a bank and crossing the border are two completely different crimes and you know that Ranger. Jeez, you anti's consistently compare crossing the border with a heinous crime and it's not right.
Allowing them to stay, and offereing them a plan with stipulations is another example of two different situations.

Both are breaking the law and taking something that was not their right to take. I never said they were equivalent crimes, I said they are both crimes. And I've said I would be agreeable to a plan. That plan is that if they self deport, their illegal crossing would not be held against them and they should be free to apply to come here the correct way.
I know you want to think we see all as the same, but we don't. The fact that you like to ignore is that it is still against the law and you want that overlooked. Maybe one day you will see that people should be held accountable for their actions.

Once again Lita, you feel people should not be held accountable for their actions. When the crime is coming to this country illegally, what should be the proper consequences? When I tresspass, is it OK to stay once there?

It is called agreeing with something someone else says. Nothing more and nothing less.

So if a person steals something, it's OK to pay a small fine and keep it?

I want to share with you this fairly well known quote:

That's one of the best, and most fitting, that I've heard in a while. :)

I wonder how Lita would feel if her family went on vacation only to come home and find an illegal family had invaded their home while they were gone? They ate their food, slept in their beds, and found info on their bank accounts.
Would she just say, well they needed a place to sleep, eat, and oh yea, they had to send money to the rest of their family in their home country? No big deal? I don't feel violated?

It's all in her way of thinking, Ovr. She speaks for all the illegals and acts as their leader, though none of them have come here to thank her or agree. (hopefully, we won't be flooded with sock puppets now)
She figures since we're all in agreement that you must speak for us and be our leader. I am detecting some jealously, perhaps.
You'd be a good leader because you'd do the right thing by your country! [/*]
I am not their leader, I support some of them not all of them can you get that straight at least? No one needs to thank me, I don't need a whole group patting me on the back everytime I make a comment to the group who believes opposite of myself. I am my own person, I don't need back up as all of you obviously need every single time. No thanks.
Jealous of what?
Yeah ok Brat.

They have taken the right to be in this country. Something many people work hard and wait a long time for. There is an easy way to give that back though. They can return home.

You wouldn't bring it up so much if it wasn't on your mind. For you to think about it and post about it frequently indicates that it bothers you. And since you are more or less complaining that we have this support group on these boards while you do not, it stands to reason why it bothers you.
We certainly don't need back up. The majority on this board taking one side of this issue is representative of the views of the rest country in this case. [/*]
