“On November 5, 2007, Lance Cpl. Lauterbach informed the military prosecutor she was certain the child was not Cpl. Laurean’s based upon a recent Obstetrics Gynecological examination and recalculation of the conception date,” reads the letter from Lt. Gen. Richard S. Kramlich, director of Marine Corps Staff.

He pointed to two incidents in May, shortly after Lauterbach lodged the rape allegation, in support of his allegations.

Lauterbach reported that a man approached her in a parking lot and punched her in the face. She also told authorities that someone “keyed” her car, leaving a gash in the side of the exterior.
http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/2008/04/marine_laureancaptured_041008w/

I thought the keying of the car and the slug in the face happened in the fall. This is saying in May.

My husband kept tellingme he would be found. I had my doubts though. [/*]

LOL, we will always remember what we were doing when we heard the news!
I was also asleep on the couch, and woke up to hear Greta saying that CAL was captured and would have more on her show! I had about 10 minutes to do everything before being gluded to the TV!

I dunno, but I have a feeling Christina could use a good education about Diane Zamora just about now. She 'loved' her boyfriend, too - until he decided HE wasn't about to take the blame for murder & said it was all because of HER.

JMO [/*]

Exactly. I think CSL is very nervous tonight......wondering what he is going to have to say once he is back in Onslow County.

He may have thought long and hard these past three months if it was worth him taking the full fall for all of this.

Did anyone notice Cesar's hands? The blog I posted upthread said that he had been staying at a ranchero (spelling) but they didn't know who owned it. Also said when he was found he only had 10 peso's...now I don't know how much that is but he left with like 5 grand didnt' he?

Maybe he thought that his family would take care of him. Then he found out they would not touch him with a ten foot pole!

Im watching CNN and it looks as like they still are not blaming CSL for anything.

It looks like they had info he was wanting to go to Vegas and they wanted to get him there so they could get the dp!
Im just glad they go him!

Yeah.. was he wandering around like that, or did Mexican LE have him roll up his sleeves for the pic?

To me, that tattoo is a skull surrounded by medieval blades... lol, I had a theory about that somewhere....

I think so also, MW5.
The one thing is that he does not know all that LE knows.
He has to know that he is in very deep poop, and that no one believes his story that Maria cut her own throat. He knows that COD was blunt force trauma to the head.

Thanks for posting the slideshow link. One thing about Mexico, they do not seem to care if everything is filmed. IMO, if Cesar had an identifying tattoo on his butt & they had yanked his drawers down & had him bend over to get a picture of it - we would be seeing that on the slide show as well. They really do have a very different outlook on the way the public sees people who have been arrested.

(CNN) -- U.S. Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean, the main suspect in the killing of a 20-year-old pregnant Marine, has been captured in Mexico three months after fleeing North Carolina, the FBI announced Thursday.

"I loved her," Laurean told a Mexican reporter who asked whether he killed Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach.

And we have Christina 'heartbroken' over CAL cheating on her and writing her love letters to him in a dairy!
Now the POS says he loved Maria. Wonder how Christina will feel about that when she reads it? Will she turn against CAL?
Also, as CAL has put out nation wide that he loved Maria, maybe HE will implicate Christina!

Geesh am here in Amsterdam - spending my last day here but instead of hitting the road for the last walk - i am getting stucked here on the kiosk pc just to get developments on this story.

This is great justice for Lauterbach's family and hopefully we could hear Cesar's side of the story. He had 10 pesos ( 1 us dollar ) left on his pocket and he was able to communicate via email with his wife- how can he do emails there- when he has no money - no place to stay and he'd rather use his money to access internet instead of buying one burrito? Hmmmm - He also wanted to return to United States but who is preventing him from going back to USA?

One article said Christina communicated with him via email but LE said they dont have evidence that she helped her after the fact? Why would Christina communicate with her husband - using her sister's pc and not using her own pc if she is a damn cooperating witness? It doesnt make any sense. Obviously , Christina loves him but i do sense that Cesar loved Maria instead or else he wont tell the whole world that he loved her. I would think that we will be hearing more on this and i am glad am going back to California to post more ...

And again he said "Proof" and "I loved her"- So far- IMO, his words doesnt look good for Christina IMO....

Blanca Laurean told one reporter that - he doesnt know the entire story - ok now i do think that they should all start talking.

And yes i do believed that Cesar and Maria had a relationship ( signs: Knowing the PIN number of the ATM - I dont think Christina knows that number - no way - but Cesar - very possible )

IMO creepy-

"I loved her," Laurean told a Mexican reporter who asked whether he killed Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach.

....

A law enforcement official said federal authorities recently seized a computer belonging to Laurean's sister-in-law, which Laurean's wife was using to communicate with Laurean while he was on the run. Laurean apparently told his wife in e-mails that he wanted to return to the United States, the official said.

Authorities also seized the wife's diary.

"It's clear she's still deeply in love with him and she is vacillating between loving him and being angry at him for not being faithful to her," the official said. "It's not necessarily illegal for a wife to talk to her husband, but if she had tried to help him in any way, there would have been a problem."

Well it's not a crime. How would it be? Otherwise wouldn't they have to arrest everyone who was talking to him? Supposedly family was helping him. He could have been talking to 50 of his friends and family while he was gone. Should they all be charged with something?

I don't believe she told them he was communicating with her; they found it out themselves through computer surveillance. From what I understand, she has been "cooperative" since the computer was confiscated.

I believe I heard last night that she was "vascillating" about him.

Do you normally get photos to show up? Or is it just this particular case? I'm sure the traffic to them is horrendous and that might be part of the problem.

Otherwise, check to see if you have a yellow box (assuming you're on Windows) where maybe the photos have been blocked and you can click on that to unblock them.

If you're getting a red X in the box where the photo is, I don't know what that is unless they are changing out photos and plus the traffic.

If you don't normally get photos, you may need to go thru tools and internet options to check the box that allows them.

Edited- they just showed a 10 second blip on him being arrested- how come this isn't all over the news? Enough about the airlines...and he said "I loved her" re" ML? Wooo, bet cooperating Christina didn't like hearing THAT one. Hmmm, one of my theories is she did it, and he took the rap, they better keep her under very close surveillance, it wold be embarrassing as he is returned to the US she flees to parts unknown...now thats hes caught we will see the fur fly, IMO and I predict.... [/*]

He looked rather gaunt to me Annie.

He seemed to be tired and disoriented. I think he was ready for it to be over......the local police said he gave them his own name.

Now I have always said there is some major factor that we do not know in this case and IMO it is how Maria and CL felt about each other.

In his notes when he described Maria's changed demeanor it was obvious to me that he knew Maria well.

We may never understand their relationship but I do believe it existed. I think he will come back and tell his lawyer's investigators all about the times and dates they were together and where.

Twist and turns are going to be paramount in this case imo.

And before even coming back he has told he loved Maria and he also mentioned he wanted "proof". I think he is saying HE did not do this to Maria.

The FBI seems to be wanting to take all the credit but actual it was the local Mexican police who got him and then of course the Feds were notified. I thought it would happen that way...just a happenstance and they would run across him.

Everyone is WOO_HOO-ing this. But, these vets are coming back with a whole-load of psychological problems and the VA doesn't address them. I'm a USMC civilian and see it everyday. These vets serve beautifully, we demand a great deal from them, but when they come home, we give them (and their families) SH*T as far as social services. I see it everyday with returning vets. They sacrifice so much. And we do so little. I dont' see any reason WE (the US) should be saying WOO-HOO about what this war or how we have treated our veterans... [/*]

Ok, not sure how to start this. I agree with everyone on here that Cesar Laurean needs to go to prison for what he did! He needs to be behind bars, most definatley. I'm glad they finally captured him.

But I can see where Nina is coming from. My dad is a disabled USMC Vietnam Veteran. He is not physically disabled, but mentally disabled. He came back from Vietnam a different person. He is not and never will be the same person. My dad suffers from PTSD very bad and if you have never lived with someone who has this, you have NO idea what a person like this goes through, let alone what the family they live with goes through. I was born at Camp LeJeune Naval Hospital a year after my dad came back from Vietnam. To make this short, some of these guys come back from war really messed up with PTSD and the VA and social services don't want to do anything! My dad fought for years with the VA, in and out of the VA hospital, and at the age of 56 they finally decided he was 100% disabled!! How my father managed to work when I was a kid, I have no clue, but he did and supported us well, with the help of my mom. My dad had periods when he would go through rages at home, he would be in a different zone. If you made a noise and suddenly woke him up (he was a light sleeper) he would think he was in the jungle of Vietnam and was ready to attack. He still has that issue. That's just a little part of what I grew up with. He finally go the help he needed and has changed a lot, though he still has some bad weeks.

So I think the poster is just trying to say that some of these soldiers who come back from war, suffering PTSD have some very uncontrolable rages.

I am not sticking up for what Cesar Laurean did. What he did was unthinkable and he should be in prison for life.

I think when soldiers come back, they most definatley need to get help and support from our country. When you have never served in a war, you no idea what a person goes through, it can really mess them up, just like my dad.

PTSD wouldn't apply to someone who had never served in anything more than an administrative capacity in the personnel office at home in the U.S., if it does, I want benefits too!

I don't know for sure if he was guilty of rape, but was damn sure guilty of something, he admitted to burying her body to cover up a crime, which is a crime in itself.

I don't think he's the type to kill again, but I'm glad they caught him.

Like I said, I'm not sticking up for the guy. I just know what the one poster was trying to say about our soldiers coming back from war and not getting the help they need.

The VA system is very horrible to deal with.

I work on board Camp Lejeune and the marines are cheering this arrest, a rumor is spreading that he was in contact with his wife via the internet the whole time, may not be true but that is what folk were saying. [/*]

Well, IIRC - he is facing the death penalty & MX could grant a delay in extradiction until the DP is off the table. I have read several times over the years that Mexican jails are horrific.

If the claims are true, that his family did keep in contact with him and sent him money, then they should be charged with "aiding and abetting" and any other various charge that could deal with that.

I don't have a figure on how much $ the search for this man has cost, but I imagine it is pretty high. Whoever was in touch and helping him out financially should be prosecuted for their part. The FBI was involved, the military, as well as local law enforcement -- that costs a lot of money, tax payer money.

There is no excuse  for helping this murderous psycho, even if he is part of your family.
