Search for missing Wash. boy to resume Sunday
TOFINO, British Columbia - A huge search for a young Bellingham boy amid the rocky shores and forests of Canada's Vancouver Island was called off as darkness fell Saturday. The search will resume Sunday morning.
The boy, William Pilkenton, 8, was last seen Friday at about 10 a.m. playing on a rocky beach near Tofino, on Vancouver Island's western coast. His father turned his attention away for a few minutes and when he turned back, the boy was gone.

"The biggest challenge right now is the terrain," search leader Garth Cameron of Westcoast Inland Search and Rescue told CTV Newsnet on Sunday about the hunt for William Pilkenton.
Sadly, I think he ended up in the water, and will not be found alive. So tragic

The search for the missing seven-year-old boy on the Vancouver Island community of Tofino appeared to be switching seaward Sunday as divers equipped with infrared technology were joined by a Canadian Forces Cormorant helicopter.
Over the weekend, about 200 people combed the beach at Duffin Cove where American William Pilkenton was last seen playing on Friday at around that 10 a.m., raising speculation that he may have wandered off or been swept out to sea.

Tofino is a popular tourist destination year round.
In the winter, tourists come for the storm season to watch the big waves crash along the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

Search for missing boy scaled back
Intense three-day effort in rugged area turns up no sign of seven-year-old
The ongoing search near Tofino for seven-year-old William Pilkenton has been scaled back after an intense three-day effort to locate the Bellingham, Wash., boy.
William disappeared Friday during a waterfront walk with his father, David. It is not known whether he fell or was swept into the water, or wandered away.
The father called police about 20 minutes after William went missing. The boy had been left alone for a brief period.

This is just devastating!
Reminds me that none of us are promised tomorrow and that we have to love and care for each other while we can. Never know when you could turn around and your life could be changed forever.
I feel so terrible for his parents.
I hope that he is found soon. The knowing but not being sure has to be the worse hell.
God Bless Them, the rest of his family, friends and neighbors (who are devastated as well) and of course little William!
