New statement from the McCann's on Sky news after Gerry rejoined Kate in Portugal
http://news.sky.com/skynews/article...1266780,00.html
I didn't find the video yet but this came from the article:
"Police are now said to believe the children were fast asleep when Madeleine, also thought to have been asleep, was taken from her bed.
The indication contradicts reports in the Portuguese press that detectives were assuming Madeleine was either drugged or taken by someone who she recognised.
The girl's aunt Philomena McCann told the Daily Record: "We believe Madeleine slept right through the moments she was taken from the room, which would have meant there was no noise.
"It breaks my heart to think of the way it would have happened. I honestly try not to think about it."

I guess, what OMOM, is asking , and I'm not suggesting, she is, this is only my interpretation from what I'm reading is;
Whether or not its whats done, volunteering for a polygraph is a choice. It may not be admissible in the United States court systems because constitutionally it is protecting a defendants rights. With that said, whether its England's or Portugal's legal protocol, offering to take the test in privacy with the attorney's present , plus the examiner, is offering to remove ANY incinuations that the parents are guilty. {After all the bashers and complainers about posters, I want to be very clear, I'm not accusing or assuming anything. I will keep my own opinion to myself, for fear of more bashers, I've had my fill. }
I am not suggesting they are or are not...I am only saying between their hired attorney's and themselves, with a certified Polygraph administrator, why not do it?
Maybe, because they are doctors, they are educated in anatomy, physiology and numerous other courses that educate how the body's central nervous system , cardiac and mental states effect the person being tested. SO MAYBE BECAUSE THEY ARE UNDER DURESS, THEY MIGHT FEEL , THIS WILL POSSIBLY ALTER THE LEVELS OF THE TEST, AND THAT THE RESULTS MAY BE FALSE POSITIVES OR EVEN SHOW RESULTS OF UNCERTAINTY. So I will speculate this is why....they decided against testing, if it was even suggested.
It is my opinion that if it was me, I would definitely offer to polygraph and I have a legal backround, and am well aware of my US CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to deny such a test.

Compassion fatigue?
An article asking if all the publicity for such a sustained period could eventually work against the intention. How the public are being affected by all the intimate details/photos of the family's agony.
Also as the McCanns are obviously under immense strain, are their decisions being made from a rational perspective?

Why is it Gerry McCann didn't report the theft to the police? And wouldn't proof of what Gerry claims be on the ATM camera? (Perhaps that's why he didn't report it...hmm?)
Seems very strange between he and his sister they wasted no time in reporting the ~alleged~ incident to the media.
Sorry, I'm just not buying the McCann's actions (nor reactions) anymore.
And how odd they haven't updated the Fund total yet Gerry regularly updates his blog. What are they waiting for?

:)
I think if the article tells us a few things about them, their behaviors and their treatment of children is demoralizing. We can only draw inference, and I guess speculate as to this is what they are capable of. The abuse of ones own 5 year old child was severe and ill-reputed., but, did they kidnap Madeline McCann? They both obviously have a low-value opinion of human life and share no moral thinking, only narcistic persona-that is why they are attracted to each other and can operate in a seemingly unremorseful criminal manner.
They could be go-between people working for anyone, claiming to do any job. They could also be in the tourist business, like so many of the POI'S ( persons of interest), in this case police have interviewed.

Grim New Theory, New Suspect Emerges
Police are now understood to be examining a grim theory that Madeleine McCann may have been killed inside the apartment and dumped in the sea. Sources cited in a report from the Sun newspaper said cops had consulted João Alveirinho Dias, professor at the University of the Algarve and specialist in Oceanography, to examine where local tides might have taken her body.
In another development, an unidentified man has been under surveillance after significant links were established with Robert Murat, the only named suspect in the Madeleine McCann case, the Sun UK is reporting. Police hope his behavior or movements could lead to clues about missing four-year-old Maddie.
A police source said yesterday: "Murat is not the only name in the frame. Another man has been under surveillance for a period of weeks. Factors relating to his background and movements at the time have led police to suspect he may be involved."

"If media interest is to be sustained, if the world is not to forget Madeleine McCann along with thousands of other missing children, then the campaigners need to accept that the difficult questions won’t go away and need to be answered. As any PR will tell you, a media campaign is a two-way process. If you refuse to get the media on board, their interest very rapidly lags. The McCanns need the media buy-in. Yes, they have had it for a couple of months on their own terms but if they are to continue with their search, they will need to recognise that this is a reciprocal relationship."

The parents of Madeleine McCann say they are determined to keep believing she is still alive amid reports that traces of her blood have been found in the apartment where she went missing.
Gerry McCann said: "We're not naive, but on numerous occasions the Portuguese police have said they are looking for Madeleine alive.
"I don't know of any information to have changed that."

'They Are Giving The Town A Bad Name'
Updated: 15:24, Thursday August 09, 2007
Madeleine McCann's parents should leave Portugal and go home, according to the lawyer for the only official suspect in the case of the missing four-year-old.
Under attack: McCanns not leavingFrancisco Pagarete said people in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz wanted the couple to go because they were suffering financially from a dip in tourism.
He said locals think the McCanns "should just go away and leave this town. They are giving it a bad name."
Mr Pagarete, who represents suspect Robert Murat, also criticised Kate and Gerry's "strange" behaviour in leaving the youngster alone on the night of May 3 - when she disappeared.
The McCanns have recently come under increasing pressure from the Portuguese media, who say police now think she was not abducted but died in their holiday apartment.
The couple have ended their daily routine of taking their two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie to the creche at the Ocean Club resort.
It comes after concerns about photographers taking pictures of their children and disturbing holidaymakers using the child-minding facility.
Madeleine McCannKate McCann has insisted her family will not leave without Madeleine.
Mr Pagarete said he thought it was weird that the McCanns would leave their children alone in a foreign country.
The couple, who were dining with friends nearby at the time, have defended their actions, saying it was safe to leave them alone and they were "at worst" naive.
Mr Pagarete told the Evening Standard: "I think it's not normal for someone to leave their kids alone. It's not attacking the McCanns in any way, but it's not the normal thing to do."
Meanwhile, police no longer think that Murat was involved, according to the reports.
DNA analysis of blood traces found in the holiday apartment is now being carried out at a Birmingham laboratory.
One paper has even suggested police "intercepted" emails and phone calls between parents Kate and Gerry McCann and the friends on holiday with them when Madeleine vanished.
Family friends have said they are disgusted about what they said was a smear campaign against them.

Declaration of the Inspector Olegario de Sousa:
The PJ did not find indices which can indicate that the child died, this is why one continues to seek a young girl in life thus sweeping reverse of the hand ALL the allegations of the whole of the European press and particularly Portuguese who baited himself with speaking about corpse, dead child etc the PJ very clearly wants to be, for them, the British young girl is in life! This same PJ declares that it would have a new track. This situation present a change of position in the statute of Robert Murat. The recent excavations in its residence and the expertises carried out in its vehicles contribute to this change.
A new suspect
In the vehicles seized by the PJ for expertise, Opel Corsa was rented near a company of hiring of vehicle by a British citizen. This last was in Praia De Luz of April 28 to May 6. It in addition, took part in research which one followed the removal of Maddie. After having returned the car, on May 6, the individuals returned with RU. The investigators who was already in possession of video images of the new suspect snuff during the operations of research launched by the authorities also had the details of its voyages between RU and Portugal. The suspect will be convened soon at the office of the Portuguese PJ.
I dont understand. Are they saying a suspect hired a car and come back with a Russian and that they want hi m in for questioning?
The pictures show the McCanns had to walk about 120 metres to get to the apartment where their children slept.

Madeleine may be dead, police say
Madeleine disappeared while her parents were having dinner nearby
Police interview
Police in Portugal have acknowledged for the first time that missing Madeleine McCann may be dead.
Speaking to the BBC, one of the detectives leading the investigation said new evidence had given "intensity" to the possibility she was killed.
Chief Inspector Olegario Sousa said Kate and Gerry McCann were not being considered as suspects following recent rumours they were under suspicion.
Madeleine vanished 100 days ago in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6942198.stm
Forensic scientists
Mr Sousa said renewed searches by detectives with British sniffer dogs have revealed clues which could point to Madeleine's death.
He was referring to traces of blood found inside the apartment room where Madeleine was sleeping, which are now being analysed by forensic scientists in Britain.
A service was held marking 100 days since Madeleine vanished
Mr Sousa refused to confirm or deny reports in Portuguese newspapers that the sniffer dogs had detected odours of a dead body that had been in the apartment.
The police spokesman made it clear that other lines of inquiry have not been ruled out.
He said Kate and Gerry McCann and their friends who had been on holiday with them were not being treated as suspects.
And he said witnesses might be interviewed again depending on the results of the forensic tests.
'Journey of hope'
Under Portuguese law, police are not normally allowed to speak publicly about the details of an investigation.
A spokeswoman for the McCann family said: "It is obviously heartening that the police in Portugal have finally confirmed that Kate and Gerry McCann are not suspects following the hurtful and unhelpful comments that have been made this week.
"Kate and Gerry understand that the police in Portugal are working hard to do everything in their power to find Madeleine McCann.
"They continue to hope and pray that Madeleine is still alive."
Mr Sousa spoke after Kate and Gerry McCann attended a church service marking 100 days since Madeleine's disappearance.
The church of Nossa Senhora da Luz was packed with holidaymakers and locals, many wearing green and yellow to symbolise hope.
A piper in Glasgow and Madeleine's grandmother Eileen McCann
Kate McCann asked the congregation to "stay with" her and her family as they continued their "journey of hope" and to keep Madeleine in their prayers.
When the couple came out of the church they were greeted by loud applause from waiting holidaymakers and residents.
In recent days they have been forced to deny allegations they were somehow involved in Madeleine's disappearance.
Francisco Pagarete, the lawyer of the only suspect in the disappearance Robert Murat, has criticised her parents' alleged "strange" behaviour on the night she vanished.
Madeleine's grandparents Brian and Susan Healey manned a stall in the city centre of Liverpool, where they live, on Saturday asking for donations.
Mrs Healy, 62, said, "It's been very hard this week."
Lament
There are also prayers and pledges of support being said on Saturday by sports stars, including England rugby star Jonny Wilkinson, jockey Frankie Dettori and Everton Football Club.
Teams in the Premiership have been wearing T-shirts with Madeleine's image during their pre-match warm ups.
Among the international events is a Mass being held in the pilgrimage town of Lourdes, France.
And a lone piper played a specially written lament for the missing girl at an international bagpipe event in Glasgow.
The four-year-old disappeared from the apartment room at the Praia da Luz resort on 3 May while her parents were eating with friends at a nearby restaurant.

Missing Madeleine McCann's favourite pink Cuddle Cat toy was taken from her arms as she slept and placed beyond her reach by her kidnapper. That is why police are certain Madeleine was snatched while she was asleep - and was NOT killed or injured in the holiday apartment.

from The Mirror:
Human Remains Detection Dog: (HRD) This detection canine specialises in crime scenes..old cases...small scent sources...and residual scent. HRD dogs are trained to exclude fresh human scent...feces...urine..semen... and all animal scents....Eddie and Keela are the best in the world...
The dog that marked the death is trained by Gauze being placed on human remains on the stomach area and then taken off so it is the Gauze that is used not human bodies...the human body only gives off the scent odour after it has been dead from 1hr 35 minutes minium to two hours after death..so if this dog picked and marked the area or area's then this dog would have been 100% correct... if the reports are true what we have read about death in the Apartment then things dont look at all.

Is it my imagination or do they seem to be cold and he seems to be lying..........it just doesnt ring true and how she (the mother) can sit there and say, in reply to the question what would you say to your little girl?
"She knows I love her............" and NO EMOTION, it just blows my mind.
I think they overdosed the drug that they have been giving their children to keep them asleep and that is why,
a) the other two babies did not wake up when Madeleine was "taken"
b) would account for a child being carried in a blanket.
These two should be struck off any medical register and be prosecuted for child neglect.
YThey are guilty.
A new development in the Madeleine McCann case is expected within the next few days, Sky News has learnt.
http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,91210-1280490,00.html
Portuguese police are investigating claims that Madeleine McCann could have been abducted by burglars behind a string of break-ins at the Algarve holiday complex from which she disappeared 110 days ago.
Detectives are due to reinterview several members of staff at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz. They are also expected to speak to two British tourists who claim that they may have seen the abductor.

The parents of Madeleine McCann have insisted their daughter is alive and may be in Spain.
Kate and Gerry McCann gave interviews to Spain's three top-selling newspapers in which they insisted there was a 'very real possibility' their daughter had not been killed
This appears to go against recent Portuguese police statements acknowledging for the first time that Madeleine could be dead.

At the Ocean Club all four families had apartments in Waterside Gardens Block 5, which overlooked one of two pool and restaurant areas on the resort. It was not a gated site and Gerry’s and Kate’s ground floor apartment, 5a, was on a street corner. The group occupied two of the neighbouring apartments, 5b and 5d, and another on the floor above.
On the first night, Saturday, April 28, the adults and children all ate together at the Ocean Club’s other location, some 10 minutes away, the Millennium Restaurant and Terrace. But the next night, and for all the nights thereafter, all four families settled the children in their apartments and then walked down to the nearby Tapas restaurant with its open air tables offering a clear line of sight to the apartments, about 50 metres away.

MADELEINE McCANN DISAPPEARANCE: TRACES FOUND ON A SECOND APARTMENT AT OCEAN CLUB (13h33)
The Forensic Science Service, in Birmingham, is analysing several samples collected on another apartment of Ocean Club where, in the early morning of May 4, Portuguese sniffer dogs have signalled the presence of Madeleine McCann.
A new set of results will be send to Portugal in the next days. Those results are considered “very important”, as Police expects they can confirm or, at least give strong indications about the presence of Madeleine McCan on the second apartment at Ocean Club. Among the samples of this new set of results are also traces of biological material collected at apartment 5A and in the house the McCann rented, at Praia da Luz, when they left Ocean Club, several weeks after Madeleine disappeared.
The last set of results received by Portugues Police has a low degree of reliability – between 50 to 60 % - which is not enough to be admitted as evidence, on a trial. However, they were useful to help to give more consistency to other clues that Polícia Judiciária, in a close cooperation with British Police, has been collecting during the last four months. A surveillance operation, for example, has been set up one month ago and all movements of the McCann couple were followed closely by Police.

"Another UK scientist called into question the value of DNA evidence in its own right in the case of Madeleine's disappearance. Dr Paul Debenham, a member of the advisory body the Human Genetics Commission, said there could be legitimate reasons as to how DNA from the missing toddler found its way into the hire car rented by the missing girl's parents."

It is known that some of the officers who undertook an examination of the McCanns' apartment did not wear protective clothing, which means there is a risk that they passed on DNA to the vehicle and "cross-contaminated" it."

"An offer to provide senior Scotland Yard detectives to review the evidence in the Madeleine McCann case has been ignored by Portuguese police, The Times has learnt.
Investigative reviews by an outside force are standard practice in Britain and occur after just a few weeks in murder and child abduction cases if no great progress has been made.
The Metropolitan Police, highly regarded internationally in homicide investigation, are understood to have offered the services of experienced detectives several weeks ago when the search for Madeleine was floundering. The McCann family is believed to have asked, independently, for a review of the evidence. But Portuguese police have not responded in either instance."

Moral superiority: the ugly new stick to beat Kate McCann
"How ugly this moral superiority is, and how many of us, especially parents, seek it. For some it becomes almost a way of life, the only way they can gain validation, somehow. ...........We have witnessed it almost from the start with the story of Madeleine McCann. It was there in the beginning, as in: they left their children alone in the apartment while they went out to eat, I would never have done that; and we’re seeing it big time now as the tide turns against them."

Madeleine McCann: the global reaction
Germany:
"The publicity has focused thoughts on Germany’s home-grown problem: there are 1,600 missing children in Germany, more than anywhere else in Europe. “Every day there are 200 to 300 cases in Germany of children who have disappeared or have been found,”
France:
"The French showed only mild interest in the Madeleine McCann case until last weekend when it appeared that the parents were suspects. French reporting and dinner table discussions on the subject were mainly about the phenomenon of the British media orgy rather than the story itself."
Japan:
" No particular judgment is passed, but those covering the story express their (traditional) fascination with the way that Fleet Street gets itself worked-up over this kind of thing. They are always ghoulishly impressed by screaming headlines, dramatic switches in the story and the energy with which the British press hound everyone involved."

Interesting comparison of the Chamberlain case and the McCann case.
"The car was full of copper oxide, a residue of mining in Mount Isa. That would later produce positive results for the ortho-tolidine test for the presumptive presence of blood. In the front seat were remnants of spilt caramel milkshake and beneath the dashboard was a tiny spray of a bituminous sound-deadener, inadvertently squirted through a hole during manufacture. During the police investigation, these innocent substances became blood."

"The picture remains far from clear. Initial reports suggested a "99 per cent" DNA match, from blood found in the car but an officer took the unusual step of denying the report on which this was based. There has since been talk of an 80 per cent match from bodily fluids – but the statistics used have been odd. Forensic officers don't use percentages, but chances in a million, or billion, against a match."

As did others. Hundreds of miles away in Glasgow, relatives of missing Madeleine were joining 60,000 fans at Celtic Park to keep up the focus on the hunt. Madeleine's aunt and uncle, Philomena and John McCann, live in the city, while her father Gerry used to work for the club.
"There was a vigil on Thursday in Liverpool and last night here in Luz. They gave us strength. They prayed for Madeleine and took our strength and made things happen. They made Madeleine's disappearance more public and showed we are doing everything we can to get her back.
"After [Friday] night's vigil our spirits were lifted. We walked out of the church thinking we will see Madeleine soon and we'll get her back safely. You have given us the strength to believe."
At the end of the surprise address, the congregation, spilling out into the small square in front of the church, broke into spontaneous applause.
Madeleine's aunt, Diane McCann, is a P3 teacher at the Knightswood school and the pupils and staff were keen to show support for her and her family.

We, like everyone else, await the results of the forensics from the recent searches. We do not know who has taken Madeleine or why. Sometimes people do things for reasons that even they cannot understand. An act of madness, an accident or sudden impulse can lead to consequences that people may never have imagined or intended. Faced with such a situation we believe any human soul will ultimately suffer torment and feelings of guilt and fear.
